Thank goodness for tornado sirens - I was sleeping and they were going off, I'm thinking wtf?!! Anyway, a huge storm has come out of nowhere, not forecast, and we are under a tornado warning now. *runs to interior room*

Everybody is jumpy after what happened a few weeks ago.

Crap, that means we're gonna get hammered in a couple hours.

Thanks for the heads up beary!

Hope you are safe! We've been getting pounded this spring!

Considering that I actually dropped out of grad school once, and I came very close to dropping out with no degree a second time three years ago, I am quite amazed to hear people say that my career is on a great upward trajectory. First I heard that from a med school admissions person, and then today one of my committee members told me almost the same thing. Wow, what a difference three years can make....

I'm a grad school dropout too..

*to the tune of "Beauty School Dropout"*
"Ph.D. dropout... no graduation day for you....Ph.D. dropout.... no getting ho-o-oded for you! You made it through the class work, you handled your major professor, the jerk, but then - you - changed - your - mind!"

My career was on the upswing when I changed my mind about a Ph.D. in my current field. I'm so happy to be switching!

I have had a similar experience. Grad school is so hard and I very nearly quit before comps. I actually did job interviews and basically had a foot out the door and then decided to just give comps a shot and then quit if I failed. I passed, and here I am. I wasn't even going to go back to med school because I knew I didn't want to be a clinician and that was before I knew how awesome pathology is. 😀

oh my gosh- I'm trying to keep up with reading this thread but I don't think I have the stamina!

just got home from my physics final 👍 I'm DONE for the semester! wheeeeeee!

meg- congrats on the A!

Q- way to go on the 2nd pub!

beary- don't know you, but stay safe from the storms tonight!

later, all!

Yeah, b/c it would be a huge disservice to humanity if i'd gone out and gotten a job as a masters level chemist. :meanie:

All kidding aside, I had a huge epiphany three years ago. I changed labs, dumped the loser guy I was dating, and finished my Ph.D. in 2.5 years starting my research from scratch. 😎

SDN was going nuts last night. I don't know what was up.

My test went well - I just needed to show up. He drops the lowest test and I already had an A. I went in planning to make pretty patterns on my scantron but ended up really trying. I finished in 5 minutes. I love freshman classes. :meanie:

Way to go VD.

I finished my exam in 10 minutes. Don't you love it when you are in that situation? People look at you with envy and loathing in their eyes while they frantically bubble and you're out the door.

I'm going to visit my mommy and daddy this weekend!

Things are really starting to look more positive now! I just made a final payment to pay the balance off of my husband's credit card, now we have no more credit card debt!!! WOOOOOO HOOOOO!

From our wedding and putting our debt together after the wedding, we ended up with about $25K between the two of us and with some wedding costs. We worked hard and paid it off in 6 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm totally stoked right now! I have to go get in the shower to get ready for work - have a great day everyone!

thats awesome meg 👍

attention people, attention please. 🙂 i'm phasing out my sdn posting starting today. i'll be back to full strength in mid-june. i changed up my schedule last night to reflect how long it realistically takes me to go through the material now that i've had 5 days to find out my uninterrupted pace. bad news: some subjects (ie gross anat and embryo) will only get 1 day of solid review because they are low yield and i probably wont have too many questions on them anyway. even if i studied a week for each i doubt i'd be able to answer all the crazy questions on them thrown at us by the usmle. i'll just look more intensely at their sections in first aid, that seems to be the consensus i've heard from most people. good news: my last 2 weeks before my test will just be solid memorizing from my annotated first aid and just finishing qbank and reviewing path/micro/pharm flashcards.

*poof*

That's awesome!! My husband and I had some major credit card debt when we first got married - wedding, honeymoon, issues with our house and cars, it sucked. I think we had about $30k in credit card debt/grandma loans. We paid it all of 18 months ago and haven't had any credit card debt since. It's a great feeling! All we have right now is the mortgage, car payment, and my tiny little student loan (that will get much, much, much bigger soon, LOL).

A - at least you will have Q to look over for you now 😉

Congrats to all the happy news (for the most part on here!) Just got my floor mat for my guest room/study! WHOOPIE! I'm going to watch some "safety" videos for lab now. 🙄 I'm screening themt o see if they are any good.

Figures....but I must've missed it somewhere when it became an official nickname. This is what I get for being out of the loop for a day here 😛
