i just got a phone call from wachovia bank, someone just racked up $1,000 on my debit card over at a local walmart they also used the card at a gas station but that charge hasnt posted yet. 😱 😱 😱 😱

wachovia canceled the card and put the money back in my account and will be sending me an afidavit to sign in the mail. i get my new card in a few days.

guys watch out, apparantly they used an actual card and since i have mine right in front of me right now they must have cloned it somewhere. the wachovia person told me they go to gas stations to test the cards to see if they work and that they may not have actually spent any money there but when that charge posts they will delete it from my account.

now i have to make sure all my other accounts are fine. wtf... wtf... wtf

they said there's been a spike in credit card fraud in florida lately

of all the cards they got your debit card. that sucks--I'm glad your bank is so awesome. i honestly didn't know they could make fake cards--that is so weird. not unless they somehow stole it from your mail or something.....

a-man, that sucks. i hope everything turns out ok. i haven't heard of ppl making duplicate cards, but i guess anything is possible these days.

the lady on the phone explained what they do sometimes. they make fake cards that look like real credit/debit cards with whatever name they want on them. they then get an ID with their pic on it but with an alias that matches the name on the fake card. they then use a machine to program the magnetic strip with the stolen number. they even put the real credit card number on gift certificate cards or something else that has nothing to do with the real one.

crazy, thank god banks refund your money immediately while they do the investigation.

A gets fraud caught (my luck they'd wipe me out and then some on my credit line and I wouldn't know 🙁 )

Oh yeah. I got a 75% yield too, on a small-scale reaction. Now I just need a CMR and a HRMS (and I guess an IR, just in case whatever journal we wind up submitting this to idiotically requires it 🙄 ) And now back to cleaning things up and writing the paper. Woohoo. 😀

i was gonna finish micro made ridiculously simple tonight but then that whole credit card fraud thing derailed my night. :laugh: seriously though, i 😍 wachovia. they not only caught it within minutes but they put my money back with a couple of clicks. when i had the account pulled up showing the $1,000 in fraudulent charges the lady literally said "ok, check it now" and the money was back. 😀

i'm gonna end up finishing micro tomorrow and then knocking out immuno between tomorrow and saturday. i'm a day behind schedule but i'm ok. i take my first official NBME practice USMLE early next week.

I think everybody pukes or passes out at some point in third year. It's ok. 😉 Just sit down for a bit, get something to eat and drink, and you will feel all better. I have both passed out AND puked. 😳

it's actually not the kind of spa i thought...i thought it was like a massage, facial, mani, pedi, relax kind of spa....no, it's the botox/microderm-abrasion/collagen-injection type of spa. i think i'm going to call them and tell them to draw another winner b/c i don't think i can use it.

I have so may of those type books PW its not funny. I just have never the time to read them all. Maybe today will be a reading lazy day. I haven't decided. I have a bunch of books from the library on vaccines and disease I wanted to read too. Decisions. I don't read much for fun anymore. I think its because I do it too much during the day. :laugh:

I know what you mean. I buy them and never read 'em. Been doing that since high school. Amazon is so bad for me and now I have that Amazon Prime thing where 2 day shipping is free. Amazon bad for PW! Bad!

I became so frustrated with reading over the years...I mean that whole words spinning out thing kinda puts a damper on enjoyment. So, I was only reading when I had to ... even then I didn't do it half the time. But, now that the eyes are fixed ...whoa, a whole new world. Thank you, Johns Hopkins! :laugh:
