ARGH!!!!!!! Someone send the sickies away from my house!!!!!!!!!! The baby still has a fever and both kids have :barf: today.

Seriously - one or both of them has been sick continuously since Mother's Day.

+pity+ <-- That's for my little pity party that I'm having over here.

Morning A! How's your studying going? Is that what you're up to today?

I must get my big TV and Tivo hooked up in time for the NASCAR race. 🙂

friday i read the high yield behavioral science book, yesterday i read the high yield cell/molec bio book and now today i'm knocking out the high yield neuroanatomy book. i feel like i'm in the matrix and i'm being jacked up with new knowledge. if only it were that easy!

enjoy the race beary! 🙂

talk to you later guys!

is it really? not necessarily something i would want cameramen falling over for.

i'd just want my kids to be born here. celebrities give birth in the US all the time.

i dont blame brad and angelina for trying to get some privacy though, look at whats happened with britney spears. she had her baby here and now the media has tried to spin her into the worst mother of all time.

yea, i could sit and say, hmph, sucks to be me! i have to write 3 essays! but then again, i definitely want the MSTP, so i'm going to kick some butt on as many essays as i have to in order to get there! 😀

ok, finished a (very rough) draft of my md/phd essay! now onto the research experiences essay...that one should be easier b/c i'm just explaining what i did in my research.

MSTP essays suck. At least many of them overlap.

Let me know if I can help.

Likewise. If any of you want me to read your essays, let me know. Including the research ones. Scentimint, I didn't know you were going MD/PhD. Awesome. 👍 Now we have three. 😀

No more worrying about scores, girls. In a few more weeks they'll come out. In the meantime, stay focused on getting that AMCAS done. You only have another week or so before you can start submitting, and you should do whatever you can to get them out in June if you're applying to any rolling schools....

I'm feeling totally bad here - scentimint, teerawit, and who else?

Oh I see. I was thinking of folks just starting the two degrees. 🙂
The community of physician scientist students is pretty small. There are only several hundred MD/PhD students in the country, plus a handful of people in combined MD/MS programs and a few people like me who do separate degrees. That's what was so awesome about going to the APSA meeting. You're just surrounded by MD/PhD types. It's awesome. Scentimint and Teerawit, y'all should definitely come next April. 👍

thanks for the offers for help, beary and q! 😀
i would love to go to APSA next year if i can take the time off work without a problem (i'm sure they would see it as relevant to my future 😛). do you know where the meeting will be held?

It's in Chicago every April, with the AAP/ASCI meeting (American Association of Physicians/American Society of Clinical Investigation). You might not be able to go in med school, but definitely try to go sometime in grad school. There are travel awards available - I won an individual one one year, and my program had a few awards to give out as well.

cool beans! i will look into it.

uh oh...mariah carey girl has turned on the CD player again...blasting the mariah through the courtyard behind my apartment.

It's going to be April 15-17 in Chicago for 2007. Here's the webpage for APSA: http://www.physicianscientists.org/ You can bookmark it, and also check for announcements down in the physician scientist forum. beary's right that most attendees are in their grad years, but some med year people come too. It's Fri. through Sun., and it only costs $30 to register, so even if you can't miss Fri., you should still come Sat. and Sun. 🙂

Mariah Carey = :barf: It's too bad, because I think she is actually pretty talented (I read somewhere that her vocal range extends over FOUR OCTAVES :wow: ), but she just puts out such crap. And don't even get me going on her sense of style....

hahaha, yea, she puts out some pretty bad stuff now. she used to be really talented but then she completely overworked/overextended her voice, so now most of the really high notes she does in concert are actually pre-recorded and/or enhanced in some way.

ha, nice avatar s&m!

just taking a break from neuro and neuroanatomy... its driving me crazy. 😉

as for all you MSTP people, you soooooo have my respect. you people arent just brilliant, you're patient! after having finished 2nd year this month if they told me i had another 5-6 years to go or whatever until i graduated i'd die.

Just checking in you guys...thankfully, not very many pages to catch up on. I feeling really lousy, but at least the boxes are in the house so I can feel awful AT HOME. There isn't any room to walk (not that I feel much like walking though)...hope y'all are all doing well. Hopefully, our internet will be up and running soon. Somehow, we are getting a weak signal from a nearby house. 😀

I hope you are feeling better soon PW.

I love that when our internet goes down, I can usually still get online by borrowing a neighbor's unsecured wireless network. 😉

Super doc to the rescue!

Pretty cool, eh?

Wow!!

The first thing I thought of was how fast a doctor would be sued in the US if they did that, though. Pretty sad because it sounds like he saved the boy's life. Of course, I suppose that they would have access to enough blood here, even if it is a rare type.
