It was on Fox when it first came out. I didn't watch it either (I may have been in the UK when it was first on, but i don't remember). I remember the first time House came on on BBC - I was so hooked from that first episode.

I just recently went back and re-watched Sense & Sensibility -- and House is one of the semi-major characters! I realize British is his native language and all, but it still sounds odd to hear him speaking it.

Have you ever seen Black Adder? I forget which reincarnation of that show it was, but Huge Laurie played Louis XIV on one I think. So funny.

Off ot see "The Devil Wears Prada"...after working in the news business...it is SOOOOO true.

Kisses to all and to all a good kiss. 😍

Oh my goodness, I've never met another American who liked that show, or had heard of it, for that matter... I've only seen bits of the WWI season... one of the Brits with us in Baghdad got his wife to send him the DVD collection and we had Black Adder nights. It was hilarious, I've been looking for somewhere to rent the rest.

Every once in a long while I can catch some episodes on BBC America. Do you have cable? Check your local PBS station too - usually late at night they'll show British comedies and maybe you'll be able to catch it. The BBC store may sell it on DVD, I'm not sure.

The WWII season was my least favorite season actually  I hope you get to see the French one at some point. That was the best in my opinion.

Nope, no cable for me, not until either me or my fiance stops making a grad student stipend and starts making an actual salary.
Or until I pursuade him that I'll drop dead if I spend even one more day without ESPN. The World Cup would have been my best chance for that, but I missed it. We've been catching the occasional game on univision, with awful reception. 66 men chasing 3 soccer balls around a field, and a guy carrying on about it in Spanish!

 I don't know what I would have done in Belfast w/o Sky (cable/satelite company) - CNN international was the only way I could get the Daily Show!!

 that sounds like fun!!

I pay for cable but only b/c I get my internet through the cable company instead of through DSL (would be much more expensive since I don't currently have a home phone line and don't have a need for one).

But I do get my fix of comedy central and the NFL network, of course 🙂

Why are parents so stupid sometimes? Right before I left for work my dad tells me, "Wow, you're looking kind of chunky."

I was so upset I had to go change into a baggy t-shirt.

sometimes guys (even dads) can't stop themselves from saying stupid crap. you're gorgeous--don't worry about it.

that's terrible! if it were someone other than your dad, i'd say smack him upside the head. but i guess you shouldn't do that to a dad. i would hope that he meant something else.

my dad says stupid things like that sometimes that he really doesn't mean to come out the way they sound. whenever i get my hair done, instead of saying, "oh, your hair looks nice!" he says "whatdja do to your hair??" with that onebrow up. really makes a girl feel special 🙂

exactly S&M......exactly

I was totally grossed out by that story until I got to the bong part.
beary, you remember the stuff we had to do in gross anatomy? hemisections, etc... i swear, i use to tell my lab partners that if we did that stuff anywhere else in the state we'd be sent to prison for years.

I think I have more stuff like that ahead of me. 😉 But did you ever think of using the parts as a bong? 😱

I saw a guy leaving the grocery store with his white coat on and his stethoscope around his neck.

my sister works as a social worker and she does this all the time. she just gets in her car with the coat on and doesnt take it off until she gets home, even if she has to stop at the supermarket or whatever first. 🙄 i take that sucker off the moment i get to the parking garage. i dont even like going to places with the scrubs on, forget about the stethoscope.

I don't like wearing white coats period. I think partially because I'm always hot anyway. The pockets are great but then it pulls on my neck. I pretty much never wore one unless they made me. I hope my coat just sits in my closet for a long time. We got 3 for residency so I will keep one at work just in case I would ever need it.

do you wear scrubs to work everyday beary or are you dressed professionally? my guess would be scrubs.

i've had to be in full clinical dress these past 2 weeks, even in ER! next week is neonatal though, scrubs and sneakers all week... sweet. 😀

I like wearing scrubs too. It depends on our rotation for us. Autopsy and surg path are all scrubs. Clinical path rotations like micro, blood bank, chemistry, etc. we are supposed to dress professionally. So pretty much 50/50.

My feet always kill me so I got a "nice" pair of solid black sneakers that I wear even when I dress professionally. It's never been a problem. I know lots of folks wear Danskos but they don't fit me right.

Hasselhoff injury
The 53-year-old actor, who played lifeguard Mitch Buchannon on the TV beach drama for 11 years, was shaving at a gym in the Sanderson Hotel on Thursday when he hit his head on a chandelier, showering his arm with broken glass, his publicist, Judy Katz, said.

Reminds me of the SNL skit with Scarlett Johansson doing the chandelier commercial. Who needs a chandelier in the gym?
