3rd time is a charm! 🙂 Welcome to the best thread on SDN: The Random Non-MCAT thread--PART 3!

This is a place to chill and talk about anything besides the MCAT. 😎

Seriously though, the show is great on so many levels, it's so great to have complex, grey characters in a scifi - there are points in the show when you wonder whose side you're really cheering for. Plus there's all this stuff in the second season that is such a great allegory for the western vs middle east conflict. Fantastic show!!

(for background stuff - I'm like a HUGE fan of the concept of the anti-hero both in literature and in film/tv. If you're not in to that, Battlestar might seem unnecessarily dark at times)

Wow, that sounds great. *adds to top of queue*

I like dark stuff. I have sort of been in a dark mood lately and have been reading lots of dark things.

oui un peu quand l'ecole

Woot! Wonder how that translates into French. 😀

I should start talking about all y'all in French.

When I moved to Nebraska, some people thought I had a French accent. But I didn't really, because I grew up in New Jersey and New York.

My daughers' stuffed animals have been breeding during the night, I swear. I just went through their collection and am going to get rid of all the ones that don't have sentimental value (ie I can actually remember who gave it to them!).

Seriously ..... stuffed animals are insane! I listed them for free on craigslist (too cute to throw away, ). I wonder if anyone will actually want them. I can't imagine any mom who would! :meanie:

Okay, I haven't understood the last couple pages of this thread! Speak either English or German people!

Don't know any German or Spanish. English and French is it for me.

When I moved up to Montreal, I had to take FSL (French as a Second Language).

I love stuffed animals. I still have a huge amount of stuffed animals in my house. Yes, I am 28. 😳

I'm good, thanks though. 🙂

I had to throw out a lot of them when I moved. I was sad.

Awwww. See I can't throw them away. They drive me nuts because they end up all over the house, but they're still so darn cute. And I can't get past my kid days where all my stuffed animals were "alive". I'm really hoping craigslist works.

Has someone been watching toy story?

Dude, I have 220 movies on my queue. 🙄

Do you like Battlestar Gallactica? It seems like I would really like that show since I'm an uber-nerd but only saw it once and wasn't into it. Should I check it out?
BG really is a great show. It took me a few eppys to get into though. My hubby is a sci-fi friday geek. I'm hooked now too. 😳 Esp that the woman who played Inara (from firefly) is going to SG-1. That show NEEDS some life. Its so boring. SG-Atlantis isn't much better. STRANGE plot lines.

Beary - I'm updating my sig :meanie:

Oh and as soon as I leave ya'll come back 🙁

I was at a party with mostly polish and russian peeps. I felt so out of place being unilingual. They were all talking and singing in their native languages. I was SOOOOOOOOOO lost. Scarred me for life I tell ya.
I wish I knew Japanese, but here in FL spanish would prob be most beneficial. 🙄

I'd love to learn russian.

I took a year of it for fun while I was working on my Ph.D. Slavic languages pretty much have the same grammar rules, and I took it to help with my Polish grammar. I did well, but I don't remember much since I never really used it as much as Polish.

Wow! I had a busy day. I went into San Fran and saw my first methhead actually take a hit in the middle of the street. They're crazies out here I tell ya.

:calls beary to discuss the greatness of the MW:

I wish I had the time for fun. I'd retake spanish and take russian.

smierc=death, I don't think that's what you were going for 🙂

I always do that!

I remember when i was with my ex, we were driving down the street and I wanted to go eat. I practiced my Polish by saying "Jestem gorąca!" but I really meant "Jestem głodna!". He of course wanted to skip dinner and just head home after that 😉!

I remember always mixing laugh with death, too. I need to practice more, but my husband is American.
