This is a place to chill and talk about anything besides the MCAT. 😎

A few years ago I was trying so hard to lose weight and tried to convince myself that food would make me sick. The scary thing was I started to believe it 😱

I've never been able to convince myself of that.

I wish I could tell myself that the stuff that is good for me tastes better than yummy fast food, though. 😉

Is Iowa pretty competitive? I've heard really good things about it so I worry about being able to go there even my husband and I decide it's our first choice.

I'm really hoping we'll get some better residency choices here - my only options at the moment without moving would be internal medicine, family practice, or psychiatry. I don't think the school here has a pathology residency at all! 😱

No path residency??!!! 😱

Wow, that is limited for residency choices. Even if you went into one of those specialties, I think it is good to have other folks around to consut with.

It depends on the residency for if Iowa is competitive or not. It is one of the best (like top 3) programs in the country for ortho, optho, and oto. So those programs are EXTREMELY competitive. On the opposite side of the spectrum, FP never comes close to filling because most folks wanting to go to a rural state for primary care choose community programs. So it just depends. Their path program is very competitive.

How competitive is OB? I'm keeping my options open, but that's what I'm most interested going into this.

The school I'm hoping to go to (since it's 5 minutes from where I live now!) does have other programs, but IM, FP, and psych are the only ones here. OB, surgery, and peds are at the other end of the state. That's where the university hospital is also. I think those are the only programs they have. It's not a huge school.

lol - oh I hate the pre-meds at my school almost enough to do this.

Q: Yeah I know. I already got called a bitch and hung up on when I told one friend. 🙁 He hasn't talked to me since.

I talk about it on here because I'll never talk about it in real life I think.
You can talk about it here because we won't tell you that you're a b**** just because you scored in the 99.9999 percentile. Well, at least I won't. 😳 😉 Seriously, though, people are really funny about it. Even my parents, who love to brag about me shamelessly, had to stop telling people, because it was just a conversation stopper. :meanie:

Quick version: I got refills on my billions of scripts right before I moved from IC so I didn't have to deal with finding a new dr right away. (I get one month at a time, but have 6-12 refills on them). I got refills when I was visiting my folks in Ohio. So today, I go to the Walgreens here to get them. Turns out, you can't "transfer" prescriptions more than once since one of them is a "controlled substance" (Ambien). The pharmacy tech was a complete jerk and was 100% treating me like a junkie. I was really mad, things were getting heated, etc. He said I would need to contact a physician to get new scripts. I said, "I am a physician." He said, "Is that so." I said, "Yes." He asked for proof, which I of course didn't have on me. That just made it worse because he was acting like I was lying about being a doc to get drugs (99% of which are non-controlled heart meds).

End result: I don't have any medicine and run out in two days. 😡 I am going to write a complaint to Walgreens basically just about that guy's attitude, their policy, and treating me like a junkie for absolutely no reason.

Beary, I would DEFINITELY take back proof to THAT guy ASAP. Make him eat his words.

ALL NIGHT LONG! We had a 115 pound dog on the bed all night long. Did hubby have to deal with it? NOOOOOOO. How about TypeA? Of course. She took all the covers and pushed me off onto the edge of the bed. WTF? Hubby just thinks it is cute...until she bugs him! Ugh! I am so tired, but I am up at 7. Why? I have no clue. 😴 😴

Anyone else notice how they advertise "Cayman" Crocs and "Beach" Crocs? Beach are just the Caymans with the strip flipped forward. WTF? Do they actually think that this fools anyone?

"Oh Buffy, I simply must have a pair of the Beach and the Caymen!....oh, and in every color!"
