3rd time is a charm! 🙂 Welcome to the best thread on SDN: The Random Non-MCAT thread--PART 3!

So I've decided that most pre-meds are complete arrogant jerks. I love that I'm a non-trad so I'm really not around them (except in classes, but I tend to keep to myself in class).

All of you in the random thread are exceptions of course! 😍

But pre-allo and some parts of this forum are scary.
Be careful who you call a jerk, because some of those jerks are going to be your classmates in a year and your colleagues for the rest of your life. 😉

Not much... Just relaxing, about to read some mcat books, looking for some shoes for my new seersucker suit 😍
 What a mental picture I'm having now of Tucker in the seersucker suit. What kind of shoes go with a seersucker suit???

Really light tan or white. Maybe I'll get some driving mocs to complete the Miami Vice Don Johnson look.
Perfect for your interviews. 👍 Make sure to let us know how the interviewers respond. 😀

It's also interesting to meet people from the internet in real life.

Wow, TX schools start interviewing early. I didn't have my first interview until mid-August last year.

Geez, things just keep getting earlier and earlier!! I applied super early and I think my first one was in November!

Hubby is replacing toilet seats...and his attitude is in the bowl. 👎

Mushy, how was the movie?

Q, did you say a (bunch) of pages back that the existing MCAT study books are not going to change for the CBT? I want to buy some more, but I don't want to buy them if they are useless. What are your thoughts?

Honestly, I don't know how to answer that. I do think that some schools care more about MCAT scores than others do, but it seems that most schools have a certain constellation of characteristics that they're looking for in applicants. If you have great stats, they'll want to see if you pan out in those other areas too. The thing that makes this process so hard and frustrating is that you really don't know what it is that some of these places are looking for, and that makes it hard to know if you fit the mold. 😛 Well, that's why you don't just apply to one school in most cases (except ED).

I *can* tell you that Baylor is willing to consider people with "low" GPAs. They interview later than the TX state schools though, so don't be disappointed if you don't hear for a while. I went to their first interview date, which was in early Sept. last year. It's kind of a weird interview. They have like 60 people there at once. The good part is that they don't interview as many people as a lot of other top schools do (only about 600), so if you make it to the interview, they're definitely interested in you. And if you're one of their top choices, you'll hear back from them right away in October. Nonrolling schools are the pits. 👎
Awesome - that makes me feel a bit better.

How has everyone's day been so far?

OK. I am alternating between playing WoW, playing with my new radio, and studying/preparing for a presentation I have to give on some random fungus on Monday. Need to focus more on the fungus. 😳

I want to get out of the house some and will go to the store in a bit. I was thinking about working on my presentation tomorrow, but tomorrow is NASCAR day!! 😎

Yeah, but when I say I applied early, I mean that I was ready to hit the submit button at midnight on June 1. 😉 I had also written several of my secondary essays ahead of time after seeing the questions here on SDN. Most schools don't start interviewing until Sept. The only exception in my case was Vanderbilt.

Get the science review books for now. The content tested on the MCAT is not going to change. What's going to change is the strategy. You're going to need to take practice tests on the computer, and especially practice doing VR on the computer. Contrary to popular belief, it's not harder to take computer-based tests. (I personally even prefer it.) But you do need to use slightly different tactics.

I infinitely prefer computer tests. I hate filling in those little bubbles. And on the computer you don't have to worry about making sure you're filling in the correct bubble that corresponds to the question.

I hate taking computerized tests. I just can't concentrate. I need something to hold on to and make notes on.

Why??!! The ENT folks were the ones who took it out. We just get to grow it in the lab and figure out what it is. 😀 Actually on Friday we weren't sure exactly which species it was yet, which is making it difficult for me to prepare for my presentation. 🙄

hey beary! maybe you can talk about the 1 or 2 most common species that can present like that?

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do. We should know exactly what it was on Monday and I should have a bit of time to finish it up then.

How was your leadership conference thing?
