I like the committee thing. It means you don't have to follow all the schools' individual rules for LORs (like # of research supervisors, professors, etc.) because you can just substitute the committee packet. Less record keeping and telling your professors to send letters to a bajillion schools.

it's nice in that aspect, it just sucks at a big school because it can set you back months in the process

I feel lucky that I got in this early

Lili--it's like $15 to set up an account for one year. Then--your profs can submit letters through mail, by fax, or electronically. Then interfolio mails them for you (it's $5 a pop) they are very fast and i love it.

i will have to sign up for this. i was wondering how i was going to handle the letter things... espeically cause some proffs like seal letters and ****

i am so like unaware of how this works

My committee took 3 weeks to get to writing my letter. We have over 300 premeds applying each year, so it's not a big setback here.

Awww, screw the kiddies.

Uhh, well, no, I mean... 😳

Sorry you're so busy!
ok get this m&m, i leave the hospital last night at 1230, get home at 115. i had to be showered and gone from my house by 530 so that gave me about 4 hours home. instead of sleeping i read up on my patients condition on up to date and went through my admit note like 3 times and picked out anything i didnt know so i could find out more about it. i had to present to the wards attending (also the course coordinator!) today for the first time so i wanted to be ready. they guy kept asking me questions on my patient today that i would have never known had i slept and not read up, i was literally told to "teach" meningitis on the spot to the rest of the group. ie, a resident, intern , and like 10 med students. things like how to distinguish between viral and bacterial, labs, epidemiology, PE maneuvers, etc... i have never been more happy in my life to have skipped a night of sleep. 🙂 i wasnt able to answer everything he asked me but i was able to answer most and i think i showed him i put in the work.

Silly that you needed to be. But, oh, well.

thanks molly, i need all the luck or voodoo i can get.

i think my med school already knows my score though. i was reading the step 1 forum now and it looks like med schools can see scores online the day they are mailed to the students. i doubt my student affairs office would release the score early to me though. maybe its worth stopping by tomorrow and trying? i just dont want to get back a bad score and look bad in front of the dean of student affairs.

I'm a firm believer in the "it never hurts to ask" theory.
