Ooooh, yummy!

We did sooo much cooking over the last few days, since my bf's daughter is trying to learn how. We made potatoes dauphinoise, pork chops, stir fried squash and zucchini, pesto fettucine, risotto with portobello mushrooms, a variety of salads, and cheesecake.

It was great, but now that they're gone, I *really* have got to get back to the gym.
you just made me so hungry. I didn't get dinner tonight. 🙁

all i need to know how to do is write SOAP notes up on patients. no paragraphs needed.

When you learn, you should do them while you see the patient. It saves so much time.

Of course, I write a full page for mine because I have therapeutic objectives and data to show.

whole pages? what a superachiever. I'm lucky if I get a paragraph in, and those are usually filled to the brim with abbreviations.

you just wait until that psych rotation of yours- that's when the SOAP notes get really fun. 😎 quotation marks are your friends.
haha, i can just imagine. i'm actually looking forward to the psych rotation, from what i've heard its not only fun but its pretty laid back.

If the minivan hadn't seen him at the last minute and yielded there would have been splattered @sshole all over the highway and I would likely have been caught in the wreck.

This literally made me laugh out loud.

Splattered @ssholes = more work for me. 🙄

On my way home, I was in the right hand turn lane at a red light. I always turn right at a red if I can, but you couldn't see if there was anybody coming or not, and didn't want to splatter myself and my car. This @sshole on a motorcycle was behind me, revving his engine so much that his tires were burning rubber on the pavement. 😡

I know! And Q closed it between Nikki and me getting the 10k+1 post!! 😱
oh man beary, i saw a baby in the NICU today with potter's syndrome. kid was born with the classic bilateral renal agenesis, he was on peritoneal dialysis when i saw him. poor little baby was like 2 months old and is gonna need a transplant to survive. as if that wasnt enough he was also born with the low set ears, literally it looked like his ears were sprouting from his neck instead of the side of his head. 🙁

sorry about that beary, i was just in a hurry to get home. 😛

Q HATES these threads. she literally told me last summer that we should close down the first version of the random thread since the mcat was over and we didnt need it anymore.

Is that why she originally shut it down at 9995?

oh geez you guys are sick. i posted... what, a little over an hour ago and there are like 90 more posts?

it's summer.... go summer things
it soooooooooooo doesnt feel like summer to me lil. seriously, it feels like we should be in september. STARTING a school year in mid-June is totally messing with me.

SDN is being very freaking slow for me, which is impeding my post-whoring. Boo.

That sounds like a really sad case, Arsenic. 🙁 I'm reading up on it right now.

I never saw a baby with Potter's in med school. I could never do peds genetics though - so sad.
i just read up on him right now. potter's mortality is very high within a few hours of birth so he must have a less severe form. god i hope so, from what the attending told us it just sounds like he was born with the rocker bottom feet, kidney agenesis and the low set ears.

ok, enough sadness.

how was your day beary? i want details! 🙂

I can count too. 😀 I knew that statistics degree would be good for something!
Ewwwwww don't remind me that there's only 44 days left. You can remind me that only after its done and we are waiting for scores.

On a side note, Oxeye, I would have thought it was your teaching your daughters how to count that thought you your numbers.  :meanie: :meanie: :meanie:

sdn's been slow for me too.

the 3rd and 4th year clinical exposure is one of the reasons i chose Miami, its one of the busiest medical centers in the country so you see A LOT. especially since a lot of caribbean and central/south american patients fly here for care.

Are you ready for the test, guju? What's the date? Aug. 19? Someone tell me how many days it is until test day.

I'm getting there. But I'm sure I'll be when the date comes around. Let's not remind me that its drawing near though.

Finished reading the article. Wow, that's really, really sad. I find genetics to be fascinating but wow, I don't know if I could do peds genetics as a career, either.

Semi-random question: Is peritoneal dialysis standard for infants or is hemodialysis an option as well? Why would you pick one over the other?

Since I stupidly used the word "wow" twice in my previous post, I take this as a sign that now is the time I am supposed to ask beary which WoW server she plays on.

I got the game about a month ago but I just haven't gotten into it.
