Woooooohoooooooo took 5R and went up to a 29. 1 point from a 30. I had a 10 on PS a 8 on VR and a 11 on Bio.

I've been getting 9's on VR from other practice tests so I have faith that I can do it.

My house is almost the cleanest it has ever been since we moved in.

Congrats, especially considering the fact we lazy Randomites passed on helping out with the cleaning or baby-sitting. 👍

Our back garage is now beautifully re-sided by my brother in law and it cost $3125. I think if he charged us regular labor it would have been around $4500. *whew*

I am also waiting for an estimate on replacing the railing/stairs on our deck and re-sealing it.

Busy summer for home improvement. But, I am ok with paying extra for someone else to do it!!!!!

I don't know how you guys do it... do you just sit with this thread open in the background and refresh every 10-15 minutes throughout the day? For some reason I'm getting jealous' of everyones post count and want to get in on the fun... I'm averaging about .6 something posts a day... clearly I'm not up to par 🙁

Hmmm I wonder how they do it too 😳

thanks for the tips beary! hey.... you just took the ob/gyn shelf like 2-3 months ago, if you remember anything from that one too feel free to pm me. 😍 *hugs beary*

Hey A-man. Will def give you tips about the ob/gyn shelf. 😉 Trust me, if an unbelievably apathetic who already matched can pass that thing, so can you. 😀

I just had random things pop into my head about the peds shelf.

FLUIDS. Guarantee you there will be dehydrated kiddos. Replacement and maintenance fluids.
Also, those weird leg things - congenital hip, legg-calves-perthes, osgood-schlatter
And diabetic ketoacidosis, I think especially electrolytes.

I'm trying to prep myself for my interviews - what stuff do I need to go over? Maybe I should just go do a search in pre-allo but it is so much more fun to ask you guys.

The hardest thing for me was "tell me about yourself." Prepare a little 2-3 minute spiel on that.

How long before the interview should you start preparing?

UGH ...... I'm going to be a nervous wreck. I can do a practice interview with my pre-med advisor before the real thing. Probably a good idea, huh? She could give me feedback.

I am feeling nervous too, but most people tell me that interviews are no biggy....a lot of my friends said they talked about sports  🙂

I think a mock interview is definitely the best thing you can do to prepare. Maybe do that at least a few weeks before the first real one. You will see which questions you stumble over, etc. And can think about things like "strengths and weaknesses."

And just be prepared to talk about whatever you are passionate about and emphasized in your application. Like a job, volunteering, research, whatever. It sounds obvious because we talk about it all the time, but interview situations are so artificial. I practically live and die for my research, but at my mock interview for residency the interviewer said, "Tell me about your research," and I was like, "well, um, CFTR, cilia..." And then obviously every single person asked me that on the interview trail.

Definitely do a mock interview if you can.

I have no idea what people want to hear for the "tell me about yourself" question. I only encountered it once on the trail, but it was horrible and sucked badly. 🙁

Wow. I got it a lot, I think, for med school interviews. Not so much for residency interviews.

In some ways, it is a good question if you're prepared because you can emphasize whatever you want. And likely, that will be the first question of the interview so you can sort of throw out some things you would like to talk about. I would probably just do a few sentences of biographical facts and then talk some about what you are passionate about and want them to know about you.

Would it be bad if I broke out pictures of my kids??

I had a job interview where the guy asked me "tell me about yourself." I actually get angry at those questions. It's his fault he can't think of anything to say so I just end up answering the question as if he asked "how did you end up choosing this career path." Those are the bad interviewers imo. I had a few other interviews where it was more of a conversation between two people. Character comes out a lot in those cases where in the other, it was almost an interrogation.
