it's a med school class...our first exam is a little over a week away.

Damn! Our teachers never taught us stuff the first week because it was drop/add and the students for the class wasn't determined yet.

seriously? our profs covered the syllabus for 1/2 of the first lecture, and then immediately went into the material for the 2nd 1/2

Yes, my classes met twice a week. For first week, say on a Tuesday, 15 minutes for syllabus review and we were let out (instead of 2 hours). No class on the Thursday, but she would be there to go over syllabus for students who signed up later.

wow. I've never had that happen.

Well, that only happened for in-person classes. My other half were web-based since we had 1,500 students per class (no rooms big enough). So the professor would video tape his lecture and it would be posted online for you to view whenever. This meant that the professor went straight to hard core stuff right after syllabus since new students could view the classes whenever. 🙁

Good part was, I watched lectures 2x play speed and didn't miss a thing. 🙂

I think my biggest class EVER was about 150- general psych.

Because of this, my learning suffered. Couldn't deal with class problems in small groups, which I liked for my upper level Econ classes.

Exams were a bitch. Since there were no rooms for space during day (or else it wouldnt' be online), we had night exams. I loved this part because I would usually wake up the day of the exam at 7 and start studying and not go to class (hell, only had 7 hours on campus, didn't miss much). On top of that, parking was a pain. We had 1,500 students divided into say 7 rooms. Sometimes we had multiple online classes, so up to 5,000 students at night on campus!!! I almost didn't find parking once at 8PM! Of course since it was online, answer key was posted online 15 minutes after the exam. 😀

In person, my largest was probably 650. It was in the largest auditorium at UF in one of the most popular classes: Exceptional People. Easy, fun, class. 3 credit hours that met 2 times a week. 1 hour Tuesday and 2 hours Thursday. We were there for no more than 45 minutes each of those days. 🙂

Other than that, my next largest was Physics and Bio, both 300. Then Biochem, 250.

All of my classes that had over 700 were business and online. No way would those ever work out in person. After hearing Durden's attendance policy, I'm so glad I went to UF, lol. I didn't even go to Biochem after the first half of the semester. That meant I was only on campus for 90 minutes (exceptional people) a week. All that time off did wonders for me health-wise. I got into crazy shape at the gym!

Intro to Poetry this morning is still a possibility, but the daily thought papers and 40 minute presentation in Literary and Cultural Analysis was put on the chopping block.

Daily thought papers??!! :scared:

I do not have enough thoughts to write about them every day.

I'm pretty sure my intro-psych class was my biggest at around 450-500... there are 3-5 of those each semester... I don't think we have a bigger class auditorium than 500

Is that the potato chip? Are the med school lectures over there or in the med sci buildings?

Speakings of teaching med students, I am supposed to teach the week I am going to be on vacation. I frantically ran around trying to find somebody to switch with and couldn't. So then I emailed the prof and told him I was going to be out of town, etc., and he said just not to worry about it. 😀

I did my first year of college at McGill. I think we had an auditorium that seated well over 1000 people. Of course, since I only went to class like one time ever the whole time I was there, I am not entirely sure about this. 😎

It's only the English department that cares. As if missing a peer discussion on some dusty novel or poen will seriously impact my education. 🙄

beats me about the med school lectures... although the potato chip bulding looks pretty sweet in my opinion, although everyone seems to hate it around here. I think my dad might be moving his office there from the NIB...

anyways, I was talking about Aud 2 in the Modern Language Building (at the north end of central campus)

Yeah, I think the potato chip looks cool too. I don't even know where the Modern Language building is. I want to explore some more of U Mich sometime, but first I need to finish learning my way around the medical campus. 😳

i know the med students have a lecture hall in the med sci building (II or III, can't remember, the one adjacent to taubman library) b/c I did some research in there... do you live in island park apartments, btw ?

Nope, I live a few miles north of town off of Pontiac Trail. It is really nice to live in the country but be so close to town and have such a short drive to the hospital. Though the parking at the hospital is a nightmare.

I've done the big class thing in first year undergrad. I had 2 courses of roughly 1000-1200. It wasn't bad because they'd have theatre style seating, the lectures were all power point, so you could follow the notes easy, and the university I was at made a point to choose the more dynamic profs to teach them. I'm spoiled now...most of my classes don't have more than 20 people in them. I've had as low as 4 students in one of my classes. It was great!

yeah, but they're only $25 (US) plus s/h, so they're quite the bargain!

I hope no one justified buying them because they were that cheap. Somethings should be just left on the shelf...no matter how cheap.

But here's a trend I don't get. And these probably cost 200+ dollars. I think I had a pair of these when I was eight. But no fishnets though. (And still don't)

yeah at the one I work at.... they are redoing the parking garage... we park at a local college 2 miles away and get shuttled in a yellow bus

Nikki - no interview scheduled yet. 🙁

Okay I've been thinking about the big "what else would you like us to know about you" section of the secondary. What if there is nothing else?? LOL Pretty much my entire life is on that stupid primary application. 😉

Would it be a good place to talk about the small discrepancies on my academic record that I didn't explain in my personal statement but it just didn't fit? Or is that too negative for that section?
