yeah, florida is nice to its residents. 🙂

dont worry Fe, just because your home state doesnt favor its residents it doesnt mean you wont get into med school.

yea i'm just whining, I am getting more and more confident as things progress.

The only thing that frustrates me is that Pa is having huge issues with keeping doctors and malpractice insurance. It doesn't make sense to me to favor OOS?

you are a 3rd year med student, you are supposed to be tired 🙂

are you done for the day at least?

yes, i was when you posted this. thanks Fe, i cant wait until May 2008. 😀

So, I downloaded my oncocytoma at work today but it somehow didn't email correctly. 🙁

Also, I will post a pic of the 102 cm of colon with 7 foci of cancer that everybody from the whole hospital came to see. I have a huge list of people to email pics of it (HOs from other departments) so they can email it to their friends. 🙄

How much of resident work is under supervision of someone training you? You seem to be fully independent. I like that. 👍

I gross 100% independently (sometimes I ask for help if I have absolutely no idea what to do). Signout diagnoses with an attending.

Oh A-man, please be nice! I can't tell you how awful it is to have a pap done when the doc just shoves a swab up in there and pokes around. OWWWWIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

its very structured for most specialties. i dont know how it works for beary in path but for OB/Gyn for example the hierarchy is like this:

attending
4th year resident
3rd year resident
2nd year resident
1st year resident
medical student

so yeah... i suck.

the residents do most of the work and med students help out where they can with that. attendings then sign off on the work of the residents or take care of the complicated cases. so my day for example starts off with me the med student seeing my patient and interviewing them, doing a physical, getting their labs, checking their "flow sheet" with all the nursing data in there like vitals and putting that all into a note. i present to the residents when they get there and they read my note and go in to see the patient and basically do most of what i did all over again to verify the PE findings etc. then they write their own note AND orders for the nurses such as a change in meds or whatever. then the attending comes and either i present to the attending or the resident does, the attending then goes in to see the the patient themselves and do their own history and physical. they then write another note, sign off on the resident's plan and sign anything that needs the attending physicians approval.

today was funny actually, i presented to the 3rd year resident, then the 4th year resident, then to the attending. there were 4 notes written on a patient within 2 hours.

i'm good meg, i swear. didnt i say the other day that i get them done really quick? its such an easy procedure its crazy. it just sucks that we have to insert the brush into the cervical os to get endocervical cells for dr.beary, thats what hurts but i dont just shove the thing in, you just need to get the tip in to get the cells. thats what hurts but its real quick, just a few rotations of the brush left and right and thats it, we got the cells for pathology.

Yeah, I know. I just have a real sensitive cervix I guess. Whoa. TMI.

I've only had 1 doctor be really insensitive during the pap. The rest have been decent. I've had both men and women docs look at my hoo-ha and there's no difference in gentleness between the sexes 😉

lol, nice to know you don't just jam swabs up there.

Thanks for the info on the residents. 🙂

There is no emoticon that can convey my fatigue, frustration, and sheer anger right now.

I just left grossing, got a pop, went into a quiet office by myself and shut the door in the hopes of avoiding going postal.

And it is only just past 4 oclock? 😱

i'm so frustrated, I got student tickets this year but want to sell them (because i am not longer a student) A total screw up by the school.

Anyway, I paid $160 for the season package.

This is what I could be getting:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Pen-w-free-Penn...ryZ16122QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

But I told my cousin that I would sell him my tickets, and now I feel obligated to sell him them face value 😡 Oh well, i guess I gotta help a family memeber out

That is totally BS. Look at the bids. Obviously someone is pumping up the price.
