i'm good meg, i swear. didnt i say the other day that i get them done really quick? its such an easy procedure its crazy. it just sucks that we have to insert the brush into the cervical os to get endocervical cells for dr.beary, thats what hurts but i dont just shove the thing in, you just need to get the tip in to get the cells. thats what hurts but its real quick, just a few rotations of the brush left and right and thats it, we got the cells for pathology.

👍

well ok we've had like 4 different profs already and they have all been really great so i'm happy with that. we have this skin lecture tomorrow and we have microanatomy lab.....only it's not in a lab--we just sit in the lecture hall and look at slides on our laptops

You're right, that is what hurts. It sounds like you've got the knack for it though.

wtf.... they just grabbed this fan at the dolphins game and told him that they were giving a car away to the #1 fan at the game and that he had been dressed up and cheering so well the whole game and that he won. then they gave him a freaking toy car. thats so ****** up. 😱

poor guy, afterwards he was like... "um yeah, i really needed a car too."

yeah, its 2006. you rarely get to look through a microscope in med school anymore unless you're proactive and go hang out with the path folks.

i know, its freaky... i'm like becoming a doctor. 😱 :scared: :scared: :scared:

its funny being a med student though, as soon as you feel you have something down or are comfortable in one place they move you to the next segment of the rotation. tomorrow is my last day of gyn, i start gyn oncology this monday. i heard its super depressing, by the time they discover ovarian cancer for example - its too late for most.

that is gonna be rough 🙁

Why is SDN so freakin' addicting......I wanna rip my computer apart! .....or go to rehab 😀

I know a lot of you will be pissed that it'll be down tom for a few hours, but thank god, I can finally get some work done.

 I'm more efficient when SDN is down myself. 😉

I just want to post this again (can't remember if I said this while I was thinking it this afternoon) but I really hope your day got much better, Beary. I was thinking about you ever since I read that. Don't stress too much, sweetie!!

Ok I have a general question.....how long does it take for someone to be a resident of a state? Does it depend on the state? I've always thought it was 1 year.

Yeah, I think that's the deal in most states. It is in FL.

Ana!!! What's the good word with invites? Any new ones I don't know about?
San Antonio, UTMB, UT-H, Vandy, Mich and Indiana - so far! 😀 I got a nice recruitment letter from UT-H - which they may send to everyone but it made me feel warm and fuzzy because it had a personal note to me. 😍

How is med school treating you!?!

Ooooh, you got another one! You only had five the last time we talked! Congrats!

Med school is good, except that it takes away too much of my SDN time. 😛

I was also going to ask the med students: which Biochem textbook do you use? Lehinger's (or however you spell that)? I just bought it for my biochem class and I wonder if I should plan on keeping it.

Also what A&P book do you guys use? The prof doesn't care about us getting a specific book so I'd rather get one that can work as a reference in med school.

No kidding!! We miss you!! Didn't help with the MCAT pandemonium that cut into your "quality" SDN time. ("quality" = with the randomites not keeping people in line and generally being a supermod badass :meanie: )

You probably won't be able to use the same biochem book; ours at least is a clinical biochem book and it's pretty different from what I used in college or grad school. There are several anatomy books that we have; I was just looking over the book list for the next block, and I seriously need EIGHT BOOKS for block 2. Gulp!!!

I don't know about what the TX state schools do, but Baylor lets us OOS people become in-staters after the first year.
I know for ugrad that isn't true. A friend of mine had to drop out of A&M and work for a year to get TX residency for vet school. Dunno how the med schools work.

I wonder, though, if med schools would ever be biased against someone who's only been a state resident for 1 year.

 Oh well. A good idea done to dust by reality. 🙄

That was just ridiculous. Everyone was behaving on Sat. and Sun., and then all of a sudden all heck just broke loose. 😕

whoa - I must have missed that. I didn't really go looking into the other threads. (I guess I could have helped by reporting posts but I'm lazy) Take it that they got out of hand. 🙁 Sorry about that. We still 😍 you!
