Most def. I also got the new Smirnoff grape thingie which I have never had, as well as some grape schnapps. Guess I am in a grape mood. 🙂

Which vodka do you folks prefer - Smirnoff or Grey Goose? I think I prefer Smirnoff. (Of course, I have some of both chilling in my freezer. 😎 )

I now make fun of one of my friends who would never shut up about the stuff. He'd keep telling me how it's so good since the way they purify it (he never said "distill"), but also how it never gives a hangover because of this.

Everytime I see him I ask, where's the Goose!!! We need some Goose! :laugh:

ok, you know how I've been complaining about the sore throat? well I'm a big baby and I never go to the doctor. but I knew something was really wrong, so yesterday I decided to do something about it.

since I don't have a FT job anywhere, I get my health insurance through school, and they strongly encourage using student health center, which is only staffed by NPs. if I see someone without a referral from student health, my copay doubles. (plus my PCP moved out of state, so I don't really have one.)

I called yesterday- they're open until 7pm, I'm done with work at 5. I request an evening appt, only to be told "sorry"- no NPs around, and maybe I could come in today (no-go b/c I was at an all-day continuing ed seminar), otherwise- see ya Monday! 😡

so I wound up calling a friend who said "sounds like strep but you need a strep test" (preferably before Mon), then admitted that there'd be nothing he could really call in for me anyway, since strep is viral. (nevermind that he's a pediatrician and I'm... well let's just say I'm over 18)

so since yesterday, per my pediatrician's orders, I'm on Motrin for the fever and throat pain, Cepacol spray for the swelling and to cool it, and then I prescribed myself Coldstone Creamery yesterday in an attempt to "cool and soothe" my throat.

moral of the story: Lite Cake Batter is nice in its own right, but it ain't no Cake Batter.

It is a bit smoother. Fortunately, I rarely get hangovers so am not sure about that, but have heard that as well.

jlw - I am so sorry you're not feeling well. 🙁

Strep is bacterial though. I would totally call in an antibiotic for you, but doubt I can since my license is a Michigan license. 🙁

I really hope you feel better soon.

I'm not much into vodka, but for those I know who are, they only liked stuff that isn't as distilled. They take a lot of stuff out, which I guess some might prefer. Either way, all of them said that real stuff from Russia is much better. I've never had any, but maybe it is. I think they invented the stuff. 😉

My bro (who drinks more beer than anybody else on the face of the earth) makes fun of me for drinking vodka and says you should only be drinking vodka if you are wearing a furry hat. :laugh:

Grey Goose is pretty much all marketing more than anything. Just like Corona. I remember there was a blind taste test out of 100 beers and it finished 3rd from last! However, when the beers were ranked by the same people knowing the brand, it was in the top 5!!!

I'm not much a beer drinker so all that crap tastes the same to me.

now that I think about it, (I was upset), he may have said that it MIGHT be viral, and that without a strep test he didn't want to do anything..... I dunno. but it's definitely better, although not great.

i completely agree with your Corona and Goose analogy... you can say the same thing about Belvedere too... Wyborowa or Zybrowka are the real good ones, they just don't have the fancy bottles.

and when it comes to Corona, lets just say there is something wrong when a beer leaves your body a darker color than it comes in 👎
