Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

one of my best friends since childhood got some ridiculous charges of assaulting a police officer because he threw a snowball at an undercover cop car... ended up getting in to Columbia, so I think most schools don't care at all about misdemeanors

I wasn't saying that it would necessarily have an effect on your admission or not - it's just a little ridiculous that they want to know about every speeding ticket.

i know what you were getting at... 👍 it might somehow be a yardstick on how ethical you are.... but I'm seriously considering listing my three different stints in jail on my AMCAS application.... you know diversity factor ? :laugh:

The first couple weeks suck. The good teams play the bad ones for the most part.

I'm just a funny girl, I guess. Just ask the airline reps. 🙄 :laugh: I cracked a few of my classmates up too the other day. We were talking about the ethics of attending dinners and seminars sponsored by pharmaceutical reps. So I made the comment that they could pitch to me all they want, but it won't do them a d*** bit of good, because I won't be prescribing anything to anyone. And one of my classmates asked what I mean, so I said I was planning to stay in research. And then of course I got the inevitable question of why I'm going to medical school then. To which I replied, "Because I want to do MEDICAL research." 😛

I'm just glad that there are people in the world like you. I love research, but I love taking care of people more. I could never have a strictly research-based career and be happy. 😉

I don't think I'll be strictly research-based. Ideally, I'd like to do clinical research (so I will be seeing patients, just not prescribing drugs for them), and also teach. I really enjoy teaching. Of course, if I follow dr. beary and go into path, there goes the patient contact. But path is a very popular specialty for MD/PhDs because it meshes with a clinical research career so easily. Lately I've been thinking about doing psych or neuro too, and I still have anesthesiology on the list. So we'll see. 🙂 Maybe I will follow A-man and go into EM. I'd do clinical tox in that case. 😎

I haven't. No tickets, ever, except for one time I got a parking citation for $10 because I was partially blocking a driveway.

so megboo and I were just reviewing 15 pages of posts since yesterday, and a couple of things jumped out at us:

1. this thread truly is random
2. we're sick of the tennis talk- enough already
3. you people crack our **** up. carry on! (except with the tennis stuff)

Ok, one more funny story for y'all, and then I'm outta here.

This morning, I woke up at 3:30 AM to the sound of some girl in a neighboring apartment who was apparently in the throes of climax. It went on for several minutes, and of course if I could hear her, so did the rest of the neighbors. I went back to sleep and forgot about it until just now, when I once again am hearing her ecstatic cries. If I can figure out where the heck she is, I'm going to go by later and tell her that while we're all happy for her that she's getting laid so regularly, she might not want to necessarily be sharing that news with everyone in the entire neighborhood. And in particular, I don't want to hear about it at 3:30 in the morning. 😉

we picked a few random pages, but did happen to see both Jumbo Shrimp and Doctor Zhivago and called out BOTH of them long before anyone who was playing.

yes- we know Dr. Zhivago, and we collectively felt your pain, Q.

(or more specifically, we looked at each other and said, "How young ARE these people??????????")

I've actually never gotten a speeding ticket either. But everyone else I know in real life has.

I have gotten several parking tickets - in Berkeley when I forgot to move my car on street cleaning days. 🙄 Seriously - that was just a revenue generator for the city.

Yeah - we've heard of Dr. Zhivago. I've never read the book but I did see the movie 😉.
