Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thread!

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Congratulations to everyone who made Part 4 such a kickass thread!!!

And thank you to the ever generous, intelligent, lovely, and kind Nichole, who let me start the thread even though she won the last one. 🙂

I don't think I want to do all patient contact or all research.... i want both but MD, PhD is just soooooooo long and I'm not getting any younger 😎 I still think you can do clinical research with an MD though.

If I base my life expectancy on my relatives (men, but they weren't born and raised in US like me), I probably won't live til 70. Meaning time is of the essence. :meanie:

So anyone who wants to do MD/PhD has to decide will applying, right? I don't think I'm much a fan of that. I rather see what it's like first while in MD program to see if it's something I'd want to do before doing it...

Some schools let you switch into MD/PhD after your first year, but it's pretty rare.

Are you just sitting around chilling?
Use your econ degree and do a TVM study about the break even point for MD/PhD. I've always wanted to do one but haven't ever gotten around to it.

I would also be very interested to see the results of such a study. 👍

My dad's side has high blood pressure and my mom's side has high cholesterol. I'm screwed. 👎

Oh cmon you guys this is the reason why we're all going to be doctors.....to lengthen our own life expectancies, lol.

BP for me is normal, 120/80. As I said to jlw lastnight, my heart rate was 100 😱 during my appendectomy. The surgeon said it was too high. I got on a bike for a year after that. It got to the upper 70s at my best. Now it's probably in the mid-80s. I should join the club. I'm screwed, too. 😀

My BP is so low!!!

I think it will SHORTEN since we're becoming doctors. A ton of studying, long work hours, high stress sometimes, little to no time to eat and exercise right.

Then again, everyone starts to die once they're born. So we're all in the same boat 👍

Doesn't it suck that docs are trying so hard to increase someone else's life expectancy when theirs is shortening by the minute.

That's what they told one of my friends because she has really low bp. Literally like 60/40 (half of normal). She's very pale and gets cramps in her legs and stuff. She can't do any physical activities really.

mine is not that low....i think lowest was 80-90/60

opposite for me....dad = cholesterol and mom = bp. So I'm right there with ya. Never had a cholesterol test, either.

Ugh, pre-allo is nothing but "Heard anything from ______ yet?"

Which is why I don't go there anymore. 🙂

Did you ever get the Duke secondary posted online?

I'm waiting for a response in that Mayo thread. Some student said they have classes everyday of the week. I want a verbal confirmation if that means weekends. If so, no thanks.

Hahah I remember one summer all she ate was eggs fried in butter and spam. Yuck!

I think Type-A posted a link about some guy dying when he was 116. He ate like waffles, bacon, and crap (not feces) everyday. They said his organs looked liked 50 years old instead of more than twice that. He has pneumonia and died.

I just go there to check the verification list. Apparently the 8-10 submitters got verified last Thursday but my 8-11 at 1 AM still isn't even under review. 😡

But yes, there's been an update to the secondary questions thread that includes Duke. No one knows anything about character/word limits for it though.

Most people can't be so lucky

Sucks to hear about that verification. Someone in the thread I posted a lot in (I think titled "AMCAS Verification") got verified in like two ****ing weeks! 😱

So what are you applying to? NP for HMS?

Yea, some of my engineering professors have been trying to talk me into HST but:

1) It's a pretty regimented program
2) Some residents I know from Harvard speak of it like it's the plague
3) I don't think my research experiences are competitive enough
4) It has an extra essay

The only failsafe solution is to build a space craft and travel near the speed of light. You'll slow down time enough to enjoy more of whatever you can do on the craft. 🙂

Hahaha I wish I can travel back in time....would love to go back to the Victoria era.

I haven't done much research myself to set me apart, either. I guess the good 'ole MD is the only thing I have a chance at.

Yeah me neither I wish I can still go to my pediatrician.....so much nicer

I know someone who just had some polyps removed from his colon. Now it's making me nervous that I should get checked up. :scared: Although he said it hurt like hell when he went to the bathroom so I guess I don't have them...yet.

omg polyps in the colon.....i thought women only get them in the uterus

My friends mom apparently had a lot in her nasal cavity. :scared: She lost her sense of smell for 30 years before getting it checked out and removed! I can't believe it didn't turn to cancer or anything.

Okay speaking of time, I gots to get going for now.....need to catch up on reading.
