Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thread!

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Congratulations to everyone who made Part 4 such a kickass thread!!!

And thank you to the ever generous, intelligent, lovely, and kind Nichole, who let me start the thread even though she won the last one. 🙂

Seems crazy unless you are shooting for academia to go to an expensive private school. The job you get isn't going to pay for the education for quite some time.

Even then you don't have to go to an expensive undergrad to go to a "prestigous" medical school for academia.

It's the appearance one

Some guy was saying that he wasn't looking forward to getting dressed up then someone started talking about hippies. I felt like they were calling out to me. (Though I do try to shower from time to time, I'm very un-hippy-ish in that way :meanie: )

 I agree with Haemulon: you hippies are a URM. Good luck finding any fair-trade coffee on the wards.

BP for me is normal, 120/80. As I said to jlw lastnight, my heart rate was 100 😱 during my appendectomy. The surgeon said it was too high. I got on a bike for a year after that. It got to the upper 70s at my best. Now it's probably in the mid-80s. I should join the club. I'm screwed, too. 😀

 Was this post intended to be funny? I found it hilarious to the point of rolling around on the floor. 😀

My heart rate was 100 in the OR...maybe that's funny? 🙂

The last line was supposed to be a joke. It seems Durden, M3, and I don't have the best genetics when it comes to our cardio systems, lol!!! 😀

Durden, do you know what else is in a secondary besides the essays?

Other than the expected extortion, just odds and ends. You might get requests for photos, a form for your dean to sign saying you never cheated on exams or with his/her spouse, a question asking if your relatives went to said school or have a hospital wing named after them, a list to fill out with the courses that match up to their pre-reqs, a query about your SAT scores, etc. Nothing to stress about compared to the essays.

I was reading up on the interview compilation on the SDN front page link, some interesting questions. One of them was: why should we not accept you?

I'm stumped for that. I don't like giving them ideas to write on a rejection letter.

We have to pay them AND do their work for them? Ridiculous! 😡

Add me to the club - I'm a little scared to think about what happened to my cardiovascular system during my pregnancies. My BP got very high at points and was consistently 150/95 ... so about 16 months of that. 🙁

I'm normal now but I'm pretty sure I'll have issues as I get older. My dad has BP problems. 🙁

I don't think I could ever find myself being a motorcycle guy. I think I started riding one WAY too late to make it second nature.

My friend has a smaller than average size dirt bike. Less power, etc, nothing extraordinary. I got used to using the clutch and everything, also braking and downshifting while rev matching, but I could never get the turning part right. I had to lean the bike to one side while turning the wheel, not a pleasant feeling. I always felt like I'd fall over. More often than not, I'd plow through someone's front yard lucky enough not to hit any women and children, let alone a tree. Never again . 🙂

I think my concentration abilities has gone down the drain 🙁

Residency: MGH Radiation Therapy and peds Rad onc fellowship
