Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thread!

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Congratulations to everyone who made Part 4 such a kickass thread!!!

And thank you to the ever generous, intelligent, lovely, and kind Nichole, who let me start the thread even though she won the last one. 🙂

UK turned you down? I didn't have any debt when I graduated. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for my education because I really don't think it was worth what they would've charged.

i.e. the business stats we were talking about. Not worth $400.
Not rejected, didn't get a scholarship.

I was only rejected by Duke and UNC.
Got good offers at Vandy, Tulane, Iowa, few others.

Oh dial-up....neva again! 😎

I'll probably bring my laptop which has wireless and try to use a neighbor's (if any have wireless).

If the shuttle doesn't launch by tomorrow this time, then I can't see it up close since I will be on the other side of town (west) and my dad doesn't care for shuttles.

I took the SAT and ACT. Got enough for the requirements for the scholarship (barely, though  ). I prefer the ACT because it's more of a well-rounded exam. Science, humanities, math, grammar stuff, etc.

They let you guess all the questions like the MCAT, opposite of the SAT. They said they won't give anyone a 36/36 on a section because they put in that "guessing" factor. So they assume you can't get a perfect (which pissed me off for math 😡 )

Huh....all the schools that I applied to didn't require the ACT, from what I can remember.

I thought your dad lives in Baltimore? 😕

You could substitute the two. I think only a couple schools at the time required ACT. I think it was Stanford because they thought it was a more well-rounded exam. Other schools required some SAT II exams to make it more "well-rounded."

I can't believe you guys are getting your score in like 5.5 weeks!!!

Cost and family.

I don't think undergrad institution makes a big difference if you're going to go to a grad school (which we're all planning to do on this forum).

I know some guy who went to UPenn after high school, but didn't get a scholarship. His parents took out a second mortgage on their house 😱

He came down for a week in Orlando. He has a condo here. I'm not sure if he'll live permanently in Baltimore, though.

My parents have a time share there.....it's in Sheraton Vistana .....that's where we stayed back in 2002.

Seems crazy unless you are shooting for academia to go to an expensive private school. The job you get isn't going to pay for the education for quite some time.

My cousin got into A LOT debt for going to UPenn for undergrad. That's why he did MD/PhD in Texas so he wouldn't have to pay for any of it. He still wanted to do research, though.

OMG.....no way my parents are doing that!!!!

hhhmppp......with your practice scores....I'm sure you won't be needing to retake 😎

I dunno. He was freaking out about AAMC 8. Can you believe he got a...gulp...32? That's the worst score I've seen barnone! lol

You did fine BB. I predict a 38 for you 😎

Yea, I wouldn't suggest it unless you get a full ride or your parents are loaded. Of course if you like the school, too.

an MD, PhD sounds interesting....but 7 yrs....whoa!!! Plus I don't have enough research experiece under my belt.

We'll see...I keep thinking about that Physics passage I completely botched. Depending on my other 2 scores, I might retake.

I can't believe I actually like Physics now (well like enough)....which I think I would hate forever.....Verbal, OTOH, I thought would be a piece of cake 😎

It's 8 years for my cousin, but he's stretching it to 9. 😱 He took 2 years off after undergrad. Long time in school.
Are you just sitting around chilling?
Use your econ degree and do a TVM study about the break even point for MD/PhD. I've always wanted to do one but haven't ever gotten around to it.

I like the mechanisms because it shows you how it happens. 👍

I totally have to start thinking like this for every section on the test......I just want to take it this last time and break a 31.

I think it's too late for me to decide. I don't think there are even that many programs, right? It's gotta be a lot more competitive than just MD I'd think.

Well I figure certain programs like UPenn and NYU with more recognized MBA programs are more competitive

I was for a really long time but I'm thinking that I might not do it now.

Maybe MD/PhD.

So anyone who wants to do MD/PhD has to decide will applying, right? I don't think I'm much a fan of that. I rather see what it's like first while in MD program to see if it's something I'd want to do before doing it...

I don't think I want to do all patient contact or all research.... i want both but MD, PhD is just soooooooo long and I'm not getting any younger 😎 I still think you can do clinical research with an MD though.
