Welcome to Part 6! Everyone did a bang up job by hitting 10k in less than 12 days--11 days 19 hours and 18 minutes to be exact. A new record! 😀

For those not familiar with what we do here, Molly has been kind enough to put together a nice description.

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

VD - those pics were awesome 😍 I didn't know Texas actually HAD change in seasons 😉

I like the pics from beary too.

MY dream is to live in a place like that VD. Just gotta come up with the money. River/lake front is expensive everywhere. It costs just a cool mil here in OK for lake front of just maybe even 100 acres. 🙁

I think he means something like the Texas Hill Country and the answer is: more than the rest of Texas but still pretty durn cheap.
Yeah. I was hoping it would be DIRT cheap here in OK, but its still expensive as compared to "me who has no money". I want to buy the land NOW as an investment but I can't come up with a sizeable chuck of money without income. 😡

That will be in like 10 years

River access land is easier to come by in TX than Lake access land. But still - land is expensive. I was thinking about buying a condo if I end up in Nashville or Houston as an investment but I don't think I have the credit for a morgage. 🙁

you'd be surprised. If you wanna talk about it, feel free to PM me (I was a mortgage underwriter in my last life 😉 )

OMG Page 7 already!!! 😱 You guys move fast!!!

😍 Good morning randomites!!! How's everybody doing this morning?

I'm already behind on my study schedule 🙁 and need to catch up pronto!

 Well I had watched Alias right before I went to sleep the night before I had the dream so I blame that (even if it was a day off).

And yes it was yummy. I was in an episode of Alias. It was SOOOOOOOOOOO weird. Never had a dream like that before.
Does he have any new shows coming up? I'm not saying I'd watch it just because he's in it, but.....

Oh who am I kidding. That's exactly what I'd do. 😳

gooooooood morning, folks

beautiful day here, and my first two appts cancelled, so looks like some of us are working noon to four today. I'm gonna be exhausted tonight!

 Glad you are having a lighter day!

I just rolled out of bed at 11 AM. Am going to take a nap after lunch. 😎

Gotta be ready for my niece you know! My days of sleeping in on vacation are over! 🙂 I just went through all the stuff I brought home for her and chose a little book to take to her at the airport. 😍

Look around wherever you end up. Even though you won't have income, there are some banks that will give mortgages to med students because you have so much income potential. I would recommend renting for your first year and figuring out the area, prices, your budget, etc. and then maybe buying. That's what I did, and I ended up with a nice chunk of change that became a downpayment on my house in Ann Arbor.

Of course, I was there for longer. Maybe it's not worth it for 3 years with all the closing costs, etc. I don't know for sure. But you may be able to get a mortgage anyway.

Yeah - I know Houston because I have close friends that live there. I hate to drive so I want to live near TMC but there's no way I could afford to buy anything more than a postage sized condo.

The sad thing is that just a few years ago, when I was a grad student there, those condos were selling for 30-45K, tops. Then the market exploded.

He has a movie that he's in (not starring) that I guess might be coming out soon ....

But that's it. If he wasn't 39 I probably would have stalked him.

I didn't realize he was in "The Mists of Avalon". I tried to tape that when it was on but our VCR broke. I always wanted to watch that. Now I know subconsciouly why 😉

How about +/- 1 acre with river frontage at $375K? That's northern Illinois 60 miles west of Chi-town.

My parents bought 3 acres with 300 feet of water frontage on a small lake in SE Missouri for $125K. Not bad!

Depending on where you're looking to live you can find land for cheap or expensive. The main things to think about are improved roads, utilities access (water, gas especially) and where your job is.

We'd love to have 100 acres up in Wisconsin. On the east side it's crazy expensive but toward Minnesota it gets a lot cheaper. We're waiting until I get a job after residency to think about buying and building though. We could end up anywhere!

The housing market is really going down right now. It will probably still be a renter's market by the time you get to med school so you might get big breaks if you're wanting to buy. You could also get a cosigner as well.

That's pretty good! Even with the huge number of lakes in FL, it's still expensive. 🙁

3 acres lake front in Orlando will run several million. 🙁 It's up to 2mil/acre now in some parts.

It'd probably be cheaper now to just build your own lake like Disney did!

Hey Beary!

How many hours of sleep are you getting now that you're on vacation?

Quite a bit more, thanks for asking! Still an insomniac, but don't have to get up and am just much more relaxed. I sleep better in short intervals of a few hours. So I probably am sleeping about 9 hours a day now - 3 from say 2-5, then get up for a bit, then from 7-10, then get up and have lunch and do some stuff with my mom, then 2-5 in the afternoon. 😀

I'm just getting ready for my afternoon nap now! Unfortunately, work hours don't allow me to sleep in shorter bursts, unless I slept all evening, then got up for a few hours, then slept for a few more, but that majorly cuts into social life - the little social life that I have. 😳

google has a personal calendar ? is there anything they don't do ?

Hey Williams,

Shuttle launch postponed again for Friday.

👍 Sounds good. I can't get enough sleep. I got almost another 10 hours again today. 😀

Hello all!

I went from being a total bum to being really busy this week so my posting has slowed down. I hope everyone is doing well, and hopefully I can get back to full postwhore status soon 🙂

I know how you feel man, I haven't popped in here for the last ~300 posts.

Ok VD...I have to totally disagree with you on this one and I believe I can with quite a bit of authority. Land is cheap in TX. Cheap! Cheap I say! It was the cheap land in Texas that made my nearly keel over of an MI when I saw that the cost of a neighborhood lot in these parts goes for what a great house (including land) goes for down there.

Houston, more expensive than say San Antonio, but dude...we're still talking CHEAP!
