Welcome to Part 6! Everyone did a bang up job by hitting 10k in less than 12 days--11 days 19 hours and 18 minutes to be exact. A new record! 😀

For those not familiar with what we do here, Molly has been kind enough to put together a nice description.

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

RANT.

My cardiologist just STAT PAGED me to get blood cultures STAT because of the pacer wire erosion, fevers, and elevated WBC to rule out endocarditis. A few comments about this:

1) WTF.
2) All of this happened last Thursday. We have had no communication since then. Did he just get hit by lightning or something and think of this?
3) I have fevers a lot. I don't know why but don't think it means anything.
4) I was under the distinct impression that this wire erosion deal was purely mechanical and didn't mean anything.
5) I had endocarditis before and it sucked.
6) Finally, WTF.

I need PW to find me a smiley of putting out fires. One normal week once in a while would be really nice.

BTW, thanks for the good wishes for my test beary and Mush...i hesitate to say how I did. The prof knew I was freaking and asked me when I turned it in if it was ok...I simply said "maybe." That's how I feel about it. It took everyone a really long time. When she called "5 minutes left" everyone except 3 people were still working. 😱 Which, really was a bummer because I was the next one finished...and...

I was so excited that I walked out the door and right into a huge trashcan! 🙄 I couldn't help but bust out laughing....as did the rest of the class. I continued on (trying to play it off) and my prof ran out into the hall..."TypeA! Are you ok?" I was like "...um...yeah..." Then she said: "oh, so just a clutz!" 😡

Good thing I like her!

Unfortunately, she didn't write the exam. All of our quizzes and tests are standardized by the MathLab at my Univ. Everyone in every section (regardless of the prof) of a given math class gets the same test with the same time allowance. Go figure. I would love it if she would write them.

Ok, here is apparently a little known fact...

Edmunds and KBB online are not identical to NADA which is the official "Blue Book"... dealers go by NADA. You can't access this online. It comes out 4x/year and you can buy one for $9.95 at any bookstore. INVEST IN ONE! It will save you a lot of stress and perhaps money. 😉

I looked into all the different types of car pricing systems - NADA is the highest which is why the dealers use that. Most places say that KBB is the absolute highest you should pay for a used car, Edmunds shows what other people in your area are paying.

Right now I have my eye on a 2005 VW Passat. It's at the VW dealership here - and only listed at $400 over the Edmunds TMV. The mileage is kind of high for an '05 - 35k, but the carfax is clean and there is still 15k on the warranty. I could go for that or a 2004 Passat - listed quite a bit more over Edmunds TMV ($800), but it has lower miles, 25k, 2 year or 25k miles left on the warranty. It also looks like that one has more features than the 2005.

So I'll probably go check out both of those tonight. I'm feeling better about walking out on the Volvo deal last night.

Oh, I miss those so much!!! In Iowa, and especially in Nebraska, there were always those commercials. I think I liked even better though the commercials for different types of farm equipment.
