Welcome to Part 6! Everyone did a bang up job by hitting 10k in less than 12 days--11 days 19 hours and 18 minutes to be exact. A new record! 😀

For those not familiar with what we do here, Molly has been kind enough to put together a nice description.

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

I just got back from my NYU interview day. I loved it.🙂 We actually got to got see the med students while they were in gross lab, something I didn't know schools did at interviews. It basically got me so excited for med school😀

ps, don't take the GW Bridge

awesome, glad you liked it! yeah, GW bridge sucks the big one.

My current mood: :barf:

The adcom apparently met today so my fate has been decided. I just don't know what it is yet. 🙁 They'd be smart not to accept me. What kind of doctor am I going to be if just the stress of not knowing whether I'm accepted or not is driving me insane?!

Adcom #1: Did you see those adorable baby pics she whipped out at the interview?!!! 👍

Adcom #2: She should have bought that Civic. 👎

Adcom #3 (a male M4): But she's a MILF! 👍

Adcom #1: Where's that acceptance stamp?

congrats dude, glad it was better than you thought.

Where's jlw?!! I finally get to berate her for missing a milestone, instead of the other way around. :meanie:

I TOLD you, I was at dinner. As I will be tomorrow night. Because APPARENTLY (and this is news to me), there actually is life outside SDN.

I think she's taking another exam. I've never seen someone who's taken that many over and over. As long as she keeps the grades up. 👍

If not...we'll have a nice little talk 😱

2 tests in 2 weeks is a lot? see the above post.

and for the record, I think I rocked it. 😎 stay tuned.

as for any "slacking" I was doing tonight, I was at dinner with a colleague and a psychiatrist who sends us referrals. it was a "networking dinner". with beer. plus he paid. 👍

did I mention he's one of my LOR writers??

I had a 90 min delay on it this morning 😡 Thank god I made it there in time

awesome!!!!

I think you will really like it. The school, students, faculty, hospitals, and area are all awesome The only thing I was not impressed with was the housing options (most students live in old, college freshman style dorms. But hey, $600 a month in Manhatten aint bad.)

congrats dude, glad it was better than you thought.

I can't believe all the negative interview feedback I read on here. My interview was AWESOME. The interviewer I had was so nice and it was totally stress-free.

Had my physics exam today too. I think I did well! I ended up next to some schizo guy talking to himself during the exam, punching the numbers into his calculator and tapping his pencil. I couldn't help but smile and think about the MCAT forum complaints 😉

Just finished downloading ChemSketch. We were using it in our Orgo class and it's a really neat program, and free!

haha, I took mine alone in some little way-way-back room where they have the fax machine. one of the grad students came in with his kid (probably about 1 y/o) to fax a bunch of stuff that wouldn't go through. so in between his chasing the kid around the room and hallway, I'd get to tell him "sorry, you got a busy signal. you need to send it again!"

i think i've done more biochem tonight than i did in 2 semesters of undergrad.

it feels like someone is punching me in the stomach--it's times like this i wish i was a guy.......ok not really

 glad to hear you're excited about it now!

What a difference a day (and a visit) makes!

Here's hoping that they love you back! :luck:

I really hope so. I must say it was a little intimidating because I think I was in a pool of academic elitists ( one that I don't think I belong in  ) There were 2 kids from Harvard, 3 from Yale, a bunch from Cornell and Columbia, 1 from UC Irvine, and one from Notre Dame. A bunch of them didn't even know Penn State has a med school.

Are you and jlw in the same class?

I think I would be fine with that if i could get my own room, and/or a quiet roommate.

lol, the stress is hard to brush off pre-interview though.

oxeye, you do realize that 99% of docs are like that though right? 😉

you'll be fine, even if its not this school, it'll be another one that sends you that first acceptance. joy of first medical school acceptance >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> all others
So I'm not insane??
