Welcome to Part 6! Everyone did a bang up job by hitting 10k in less than 12 days--11 days 19 hours and 18 minutes to be exact. A new record! 😀

For those not familiar with what we do here, Molly has been kind enough to put together a nice description.

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

With all that said, let the green flag wave! Boogity Boogity Boogity!!!

Haha, we could have an SMOD battle going on .... cool. 😉
Unfortunately, it wouldn't be much of a fight, because I'd give A-man the spanking that he's had coming to him for months. 😉 And even if I DID by some chance get beaten by him instead, he'd still lose. I mean, how cool would he look if a tough guy like him beats up little ol' me??? :meanie:

ox, sorry to hear about the letter. FYI, you might hear tomorrow. Seriously. I got my first acceptance on a Sat. morning at midnight, and then my next two were both later on Sat. I've gotten weekend interview invites too. So some crazy admissions staff really do work on weekends, and maybe they'll be calling tomorrow. :luck: to you either way. 🙂

oxeye--this is what my exam is on. i had to dig through my post history to find this......damn i am a big postwhore

well that's funny you should ask

amino acids, triacylglycerols, glycolysis, pentose phosphate pathway, phospholipids, cholesterol and steriods, interconversion of hexoses, lipids and heart disease, gluconeogenesis, lipid storage and transport, glucogen metabolism, red blood cell metabolism, signal transduction, lipoprotein metabolism, dyslipidemia, iron metabolism, heme metabolism, disorders of RBC, protein energy malnutrition metabolic syndrome, vitamin nutrition and metabolism, disorders of heme synthesis and catabolism, case studies in anemia, iron and heme metabolism, vitamin nutrition and metabolism, hemostasis and bleeding, more case studies

i'm doing ok. i have an exam next monday so i've been studying my ass off. how about you--i bet school is going great for you
Good luck! I'm sure you'll do well. 🙂

Things are going well here too. I am starting clinicals this month, so I went and bought a bunch of blouses yesterday. I'm starting to look ridiculously adultish. It's disgusting. 🙄

I hope I hear tomorrow - I'm just not getting my hopes up. Why would they wait to call on Sunday when they have known since Wednesday?

I don't know for sure how they notify EDP applicants, though. Normal decisions are via certified mail. But I know of a waitlister who got a phonecall before the letter when she wa accepted off the waitlist.

So who knows - maybe they do just wait until 10/1 to call all 5 of the EDP applicants.

There are five spots? How many interviewed for them?

i'm not--i bought the cutest jacket yesterday--now i want it to get cold so i can wear it

Clinicals as an MS1? 😎
Oh yeah. That's a new trend for med schools, apparently. The first time I go, I'll be shadowing, but after that, I will actually be interviewing patients and doing things like taking their blood pressure and stuff.

As far as I'm concerned, it IS cold in Amishland, and it has been for quite a while. 😉

edit: according to weather.com, it's 55F. Brrrrr.

No - 5 EDP applicants. MSAR says they will accept three. Data in MSAR for class of 2009 shows only one EDP acceptance. Their website says they will accept no more than 5.

So my odds range from 20-100%.
You'll get it. You're an awesome applicant. 😍

oh really? yes that is horrible--i agree.

its always like that, ALWAYS. i remember i was sweating last christmas when i went outside, CHRISTMAS. 👎 👎

i love someplace someplace but a few years away in the northeast for residency would be a very welcomed change.

I went to Australia for Christmas one year. That was just weird. 100+ degrees and we were decorating a Christmas tree.

And they still sing songs like "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas". Yup, keep on dreaming!

We get a white Christmas pretty often around here. December/January 2004/2005 was INSANE here snowwise. We usually get a few inches and then it melts in a day or so. That winter we got 4 feet in a couple days and it didn't melt forever.
