On a side note, this is why procrastination blows. I've got to get up and catch a flight but I'm still working on going through my pics and making a power point presentation 😡 It probably doesn't help that I'm adding pics to facebook about as often as I'm adding them to the presentation. :laugh:

when I went in to Kaplan a couple weeks back I think they wanted 90-95% on a section...

on Kaplan's website they have info on being a teacher...

yeah... they gave me the impression that they were loose on the cutoffs and were more interested in how well you did on your 5 minute audition... I ended up getting cold feet and never going (I was going to do SAT), but I might show up to their next audition day

I'm thinking some extra cash might be good. Might be kinda awkward with me teaching my fellow classmates since I took it a semester early.

Well, better get ready for work. I have to give an hour long seminar this morning which is it not possible to be more apathetic about. I just want to get through it.

And so an era ends. Never again will SDN be the same before an MCAT score release. Never again will there be a 2 month buildup of anticipation and fear for the results of a test that is only given twice a year. Yes folks, we witnessed history last night. It was a good run and it finished in classic SDN style, with both classy people and tools. Congratulations to everyone who lived through it, and may you never have to take it again!

Good morning people......went to the bar with a few friends last night....slept at 2:30am and woke up @ 6:30am....go figure 🙁 Just had some pumpkin spiced latte from Starbucks to really wake me up....its cold today brrrrr

OK, going to go to school so I can take my biochem exam this afternoon. Hopefully I'll be awake enough that pentavalent carbons won't be a problem. 😉

I don't know because as I was saying before a lot of people once accused QofQuimica of the same when she got a 43S back in 2004.

But she was sincere and it showed in her application status etc.

You can tell sort of if they are keeping it real or trolling and the ones who post with only 5 posts are people who didn't feel the need to post and probably lurked the forums prior to MCAT but then join in on the other side in preallo once scores are released. For instance, I don't thin Kimka83 posted much til score release and then she ended up getting into like HMS Duke UNC etc. She was also a gold water scholar like our favorite Mr. T but went to a more well undergrad institution then him.

Point made, that she is one example of people with 40+ scores who actually do have those scores but just didn't feel the need to post until they really got into the app stuff after knowing scores.

The MCAT always brings new posters about. The ones who are truly trolling you can tell because they do things to hint it like Premedmachine or JustR from last year.

For the record, I'm scared ****less of teaching. I am a horrible public speaker, but they apparently really liked my 5 minute presentation. I swear all I could hear was the blood pounding in my ears.

I think they're really short of teachers where I am because they were talking about letting someone teach with a 32 before I came along. I think it really depends on the area.

For those on my facebook - I put up embarassing pics of a drunk night in Belfast. Please excuse the insanity - it's meant to freak out two other people but I realized the pics of me are REALLY unattractive.

Edit: And you can tell just how much weight I gained in the UK. Stupid fish and chips; so addicting.

I think they make those decisions based on individual section scores too, right? So if someone had a 32 but had a 12-10-10 split, they could teach for the section they had a 12 in.

Yeah I totally agree. Obviously some (probably most) of them are telling the truth and they totally deserve congratulations!

I think the internet/SDN have totally changed things. I took the MCAT in 1997. Back then, at least at my institution, NOBODY talked about their score. I still to this day do not know what anybody in my MSTP class got on the MCAT. I told my folks and that was it. Now everybody seems a lot more open about it.

I don't think the three week waits with the new MCAT will be as orgasmically satisfying due to the much shorter build up

Yeah the only way I wouldn't have posted is if it was lower. I'm glad its consistent. That's a relief. My only true fear was doing worse because you can say you feel a certain way the day of the test but the more you think about it you just aren't sure what you would have gotten.

I feel for the people who got like 23 or lower and who didn't even make the 24 cutoff that schools like USF, UMiami, MUO, etc. have.

Did I miss something or has Brett said he what has gotten yet??? What happened with Williams and Nikki too???

I hope they did alright. In nikki's case I think she'll be fine even with her old scores. She didn't do bad and if she gets the interview from her SMP school she'll most likely be fine. I think she's going to be ok. :luck: to all of them.

Brett is saving up for a huge post today, or that's what he said. I haven't heard from nikki, williams or anyone else that took it. But I wasn't on the computer and chat last ngiht with everyone.

I'm hoping for at least a 24 but I realistically need a 30+ to make up for gpa. I always get nervous around mcat time ... aniexty for future release. At least there won't be a big release like this again. It willb e in smaller incriments now 🙂

Yeah agreed with ironman. It is truly an end of an era. No more 8 hours and an hour lunch break. No more paper and pencil except for scratch work. No more taking the test at your school in classrooms or testing centers that are very different from each other. No more having to take the break at the same time as all people in your room. No more not being able to use ear plugs. No more random questions about bubbling or what kind of pens to write the writing section with. ahhhh the craziness and nerdiness that is us premeds. LOL And last but not least, no more waiting 2 freaking months for scores. I mean there'll be a day when it will be 2 weeks and I'm thinking wow there's no buildup in 2 weeks.
