how's your studying going guys? are you freaking out? burned out?

this is our stress relief thread....or our group anxiety thread, whatever..... 😀

for those of you that have no idea what the mcat random threads are about, check out molly's explanation:

MollyMalone said:
It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO POST HERE, you're welcome to jump in at anytime. Here's the final tally from part 7:

It's snowing! Quite hard - very pretty!

In other news, I just had resident colleague tell me quite seriously that pathologists aren't real doctors. The funny part is this colleague is a PSYCHIATRIST.

Gah, I don't want to shell out $150 for a Michigan Avenue hotel, but no one seems to be willing to host a poor Feinberg interviewee in the midst of finals week. Come on people, you're at a strictly P/F school.

I like that explanation though it's not even close to what I thought

Maybe I'll tell beary not to give you all that scut for being mean to me 😛

To me it's a song about cheating on a partner. I don't know the title though, but that's what I think based on the lyrics.

The part about needing help to shoot the gun has to do with guilt I think.

You're more than welcome to stay with me for free, but I live 25 minutes from the closest train station, and it's another 1.25 hours to Union Station downtown.

Thanks beary! Next Spring we're doing some decent landscaping. We cut down a big maple tree in the front yard this fall - roots were coming toward the driveway.

I forsee lots of hostas, daylilies, azaleas, rhododendron, lilac, and japanese maple trees

I will try that. 🙂

It's been 12 years since I had to do the Tb test, but isn't that one just a skin prick and then you watch the bump for a week or something?? Or has it changed? I don't remember that one hurting so much. I have to do that one within a month of matriculation and then each year afterwards.

I just remember the tetanus shot I got a couple years ago just being miserable, though. 🙁 Shooting pain in my arm as they injected the stuff and then my arm was sore for days.

But seriously - childbirth isn't so bad with an epidural. 😉 And you don't notice the epidural going in at all because you're already in so much pain from the contractions.

oh tetanus shots are the worst--i don't remember my hepatitis shots hurting that badly--they they def. don't make your arm all stiff

I agree, HepB shots are nothing to be skurred of. They're a pretty similar experience to the annual flu shot.

priceline. learn it. use it. love it. I've stayed x3 on Michigan Ave for $75/night. how else do you think we afforded all those chocolate martinis? 😕 :meanie:

this is life's way of telling you "Screw Northwestern- go to Wash U!!!"

priceline rocks the house. big time. 😛

Yup I've used it and loved it. A word of caution, if you do use priceline, be sure to confirm with the hotel you're staying at. My husband was burned twice at downtown Chi-town hotels through priceline because he didn't call to make sure he *actually* had a reservation.

You go girl. 👍

Yeah, tetanus shots hurt the worst of any shot I have ever had.
At least it will be 2014 before I need another tetanus shot .... 😀

But I have to get another HepB in 30 days and another in 6 months. 🙁 🙁 🙁 I'm not sure med school is worth it! (hehehehe)

I just paid $50 to stay near Dulles Airport for my shadowing. FIFTY! WOO HOO!

Here's our house after the driveway was plowed on Fri (looks the same today!)......

No snow here 🙁 I want a white Christmas!!

For needles, I find it helps if I pick a spot on the wall and totally focus on it. Posters help. Also works for having blood taken. I'm sure I'd pass out if I watched the needle go in. 😳

I'm the opposite. I have to watch it go in for me to be comfortable. Sick, I know. But I think after all the years of vial after vial of blood being drawn, I focused on how much blood they'd taken so I knew about when they'd be finished.

I was getting about 3 vials of blood drawn every month or so for about 3 years - eventually you get used to it. I imagine that's what it's like for an insulin diabetic, too.

no snow here... but i think it's snowing up where my sister lives.... grrrr

hepb shot hurt like a mutha for me.... and i tried my best to relax my muscle as much as possible. i was sore for a week

Yeah, true. I don't have blood drawn very often. I can handle the pain, it's more the psychological aspect. I'm glad I'm not a diabetic (or nurse or phlebotomist). The strange thing is that I've donated blood before, and it's the pinprick on my finger that freaks me out worse than the big needle in the arm. Makes no sense. Maybe it's the greater number of nerve endings in the finger

No kidding. I'm sorely tempted to say **** Feinberg and stay at Vandy for the post-semester festivities.

You're more than welcome to stay with me for free, but I live 25 minutes from the closest train station, and it's another 1.25 hours to Union Station downtown.

I definitely appreciate the offer, but with an 7:30 AM start to the day, I think I'm stuck staying downtown.

No snow here either. 🙁

Aww, you poor thing. Better get used to it though, as there's no snow in Glendale, AZ either. 😉

Ditto. I want to do the same to FSU. UF basketball lost to FSU yesterday at FSU. I feel sick. If there's one team to not lose to, for the love of god don't let it be FSU. The students flooded the court with the victory. I actually didn't even know about the game til after the fun of going to the BCS game. Oh welp, I'll call tomorrow for hotel room or something. I have no choice.

Love is in the air 😍 😍 😍
oh, I would definitely not go that far. 😳

you know how some guys really can't talk around women so they wind up saying something stupid and insulting? and you can't tell if it means they really hate you or they really like you? yeah. that's him. 🙄

OMG - give me 1/2 an hour to finish up reading about differential media and then you're totally spilling everything over AIM. 😀

lol

I don't mind having blood drawn at all - I can watch that no problem. I just don't like shots because it hurts when they push the stuff in you. The needle pricks don't bother me.
