congrats JLW!!

How was everyone's weekend? I had a most excellent weekend, including my office party on Saturday night and then culminating with a Steelers win yesterday. Sorry to those of you who are Bucs fans. I was just happy to see the Steelers finally step up and play the way they should have been playing.

BTW, is it possible to go 5 minutes w/o an AA thread in pre-allo? Jeebus. Nothing will be said in those threads that hasn't been said a billion times before. You'll just end up with the usual suspects screaming at each other, getting pissed off, and saying nothing. It's like that John Mayer song, "Belief" :

yeah--i'm having a pretty good morning! gonna go get a flu shot (eep!) then i have class. but right now--i need coffee!!! if i were you, i would have a serious lack of motivation.....it's hard enough to study biochem as it is

I actually LOVE biochem! We're doing B-oxidation which is pretty interesting... I just now I have all day to study (no more A&P lab) so it's hard to work up the energy to go out into the cold to the library and study.

haha, i'm trying to! i got to test out my nice new winter boots today! we have about an inch of snow on the ground. but it's yucky wet snow, not nice fluffy snow. i'm sure there will be more coming soon, though. 🙂

UGH!!! I just found my old immunization records. I thought I'd had the HepB series, but I haven't. 🙁 I have to get that done before I start med school.

I HATE shots. OMG .... I'm seriously freaking out.

i'm sorry. this is gonna sound so dorky but i swear it works! when i went to get my TB test in august before starting school, the nurse told me to close my eyes and imagine being on the beach--imagine hearing the waves--imagine feeling the warm sunlight on you--being really relaxed. take long deep breaths--and don't tense up. but seriously--you've had 2 kids!! i am totally underqualified to be giving you advice--lmao

oxeye, i know how you feel. i'm not a huge fan of shots either. those ones aren't so bad though. definitely not as annoying as the TB tests. :luck:

It's been 12 years since I had to do the Tb test, but isn't that one just a skin prick and then you watch the bump for a week or something?? Or has it changed? I don't remember that one hurting so much. I have to do that one within a month of matriculation and then each year afterwards.

I just remember the tetanus shot I got a couple years ago just being miserable, though. 🙁 Shooting pain in my arm as they injected the stuff and then my arm was sore for days.

But seriously - childbirth isn't so bad with an epidural. 😉 And you don't notice the epidural going in at all because you're already in so much pain from the contractions. :laugh:

I do something very similar to this when I'm getting lots of pokes. It helps a lot. Relaxing is really important. 🙂
