how's your studying going guys? are you freaking out? burned out?

this is our stress relief thread....or our group anxiety thread, whatever..... 😀

for those of you that have no idea what the mcat random threads are about, check out molly's explanation:

MollyMalone said:
It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO POST HERE, you're welcome to jump in at anytime. Here's the final tally from part 7:

Btw, the last regular season game for a rematch in the championship game was UF-FSU.

#1 UF played at #2 FSU in the regular season. Close game with FSU winning.

#3 UF played #1 FSU in the championship game. UF blew them out.

1996 season. 10 years ago. 😀

that was a lot earlier in the season though, wasn't it ? 😕

FSU and UF always play in the last regular season game. Back then, the bowls were odd. Championship game was NOT #1 vs #2. It just so happened UF was the SEC champion and they play in the Sugar Bowl. The championship game was in the Sugar Bowl that year so it was #1 vs. #3. The #2 team (can't remember who) played at the Rose Bowl.

96 sounds like it might have been Penn St.

and yes, young 'un, you don't have to teach me about the history of college football bowl games 😛

although I can't seem to find who was the #2... Ohio St. won in the Rose Bowl that year

Sugar Bowl: #3 Florida 52, #1 Florida St. 20
Rose Bowl: #4 Ohio St. 20, #2 Arizona St. 17

wikipedia is sweet 👍

Coaches:
1. OSU
2. USC (if they win)
3. UF
4. ND
5. Arkansas
6. WVU
7. Mich
8. Rugters (if win)
9. LSU (if win)

Is this really what you think? NO WAY. I put Mich #4 tomorrow, and could definitely argue that they would be higher. No way would ND, Arkansas, or WVU be ranked over UM.

Oh yeah I remember that year. I moved to Nebraska in 1995 when they were undefeated and national champions. Next year, 1996, they played ASU in Arizona and got shut out 19-0. I was so devastated I was literally sick. My first Husker loss.

Hey, I'm just going by what the stupid ass pollsters are doing. If a team loses, they drop them a certain number regardless if they could beat that team heads-up. I know, it's dumb, but that's the way the BCS works.

I.e. WVU and Louisville are both 1 loss teams. Louisville beat WVU, but is ranked lower. It's because WVU loss happened earlier. <- Stupid logic, but they use that.

Heh, I didn't even know who was #2 because I didn't watch college football then. That year, I was watching Shaq and Penny in Orlando beating the Bulls going to the Finals against the Rockets and losing 4-0.

I'm currently watching the Magic vs. Bobcats. 53-40 Orlando. 🙂

ok... this is how I would vote it if I was looking at it as an impartial voter:

1. OSU
2. Rutgers
3. UF
4. USC (if they win)
5. Michigan

If I actually had a ballot I'd vote:

1. Michigan
2. OSU
3. Wisconsin
4. MSU
5. Northwestern
6. Eastern Michigan

(I'd make sure the other #2 contenders got the least points possible  )

This is why I love college football so much. Every year getting into these long discussions about possible scenarios. 😀

My favorite was 2001 when the Huskers were ranked #2 going into Thanksgiving and got killed 62-36 by #14 Colorado. There were like a million things that had to happen to get NU into the NC game and they all happened. Of course, then Miami killed the Huskers in the NC game.

I mostly agree but would put Rutgers #5, moving the others up a spot. I know they're undefeated, but I just couldn't put them #2.

Beary!!! Louisville beat WVU and both have 1 loss (tiebreaker to Louisville). Louisville is ranked BELOW WVU. How??? BCS, that's how. 😎 ******ed. 😎

Are you a playoff person?

As imperfect as this system is, I think it is so much fun. 😀

And let's not forget that tomorrow the NASCAR championship is decided!

Why can't I study for Step 3?? I don't know what my deal is. I used to study ALL THE TIME. Now I can't study for half an hour. I MUST get through First Aid at least once. My internal medicine rotation was more than five years ago!

I completely agree... I love the arguments about it... although my team has never been screwed over by the system 😀

It is fun talking about it for me, but that's until the SEC gets screwed like every year. I.e. 2004 Auburn most recently. They let a ****ty Oklahoma play against USC. Auburn would've ripped them to pieces.

yeah, and USC got screwed the year before...

You mean Oklahoma vs. LSU? Oklahoma didn't do that bad that year. They shut out the Aggies like 70 - 0 (after the third, scoreless in teh 4th). USC lost to an unranked Hawaii at USC that year iirc.

That's why USC went in 2004. I think they most definitely deserved it last year for '05 and I think they were better than Texas. USC lost that game, Texas didn't win it. USC was clearly the best team last year imo. Vince Young should be a WR because he's not a QB.

This year is a different story. Complete craze. Rutgers down 17-3. Cal and USC playing like crap. UF playing crap in past few games. ND gay. etcrap.

ok... USC-Cal score is 3 to 2 ? Am I trippin here?

Holy ****...Ole Miss is over LSU 14-7. Sheppard Smith must be a happy man. I found out yesterday he went to Ole Miss. Him and Jane Skinner (who is f'n hot btw...) were talking about OSU-Mich. Sheppard Smith said if Ole Miss wins at LSU, he'll be happier than any fan of the winner of OSU/Mich.

Check out this slip up with Jane Skinner. Shep did something similiar about J Lo some years ago ("Give her a curb job instead of a blow job...I mean block party"). The ending is funny, too. http://youtube.com/watch?v=1Gog_8mr6kw

So... here's a crazy fact for the day...

Big East has 6 bowl tie-ins and only 8 teams 👎

and here's an interesting read by a sportsbook handicapper about the National Championship matchup:

http://www.bettorsworld.com/pinnacle-pulse/1406.htm

It was written a couple days ago, and it really does depend on where Michigan will get ranked by the pollsters after this weekend (duh)
But according to him, it looks like Rutgers won't get in over Michigan even if they win out...

Yeah, I agree - they're gonna lose anyway (down 17-3 halfway through the 3rd).

Sweet, now I get to talk football with my dad. 😀

Rah row...looks like Cincy will score again. :hardy:

Edit: 20-3

And I was right. Wake Forest = S***

ACC sucks. They should NOT get a BCS auto-bid.

they should have a minimum ranking requirement for a conference to get an auto-bid... although the BCS does get 10 teams, so we can cut them SOME slack

Hey jlw - are you a UC fan? Looks like they may be everybody's favorite team today if they pull off the upset. 👍
boo hiss Bearcats. hell no.

UC= Useless College

Go Xavier Musketeers!

edit: I do realize we're talking football here, and that XU has no football team. but I really hate UC. So if I have to pick OH football teams, WHOO-HOO BUCKS!!!!!!!! or I'll root for Miami (OH).

I'd just like to mention that the last Big East "pretender" Rutgers is losing 27-3 to a Cincinatti team that lost 37-7 to Ohio St.

Cinci only lost at Louisville 23-17 ...

So, I'll jump off the rutgers bandwagon, right now... the Big East BLOWS!

Random question of the day: My mom tells me UC has a very nice/good hospital. Do you agree? Any better ones in Cincy?

that's what I've been hearing from people applying, also

I didn't apply there for path for some reason - I should have. I applied to Ohio St. and Indiana.

OSU - offered me three days to interview. Already had interviews scheduled those days. They wouldn't be flexible - c'ya!!

Indiana - LOVED it and ended up ranking them 3rd.
