this is our stress relief thread....or our group anxiety thread, whatever..... 😀

for those of you that have no idea what the mcat random threads are about, check out molly's explanation:

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

My college best friend (the Ph.D. psychologist down there I told you about) sent my build-a-bear a Cardinals uniform for some little fun last week. Being the baseball bandwagon fans that we are, last week he refused to wear it but now will happily wear it. After Halloween of course since now he's in his Superhero costume. 😀

Legs are one of the stupidest things in pathology because nobody cares. Folks with bad peripheral vascular disease end up getting ulcers, gangrene, osteomyelitis, etc. and end up needing leg amputations. So then basically what we do is take a section from the surgical margin to confirm that it's viable, dissect down the major arteries, take a few sections of them to show that they are occluded, and take some sections from ulcers/bone to document gangrene or osteomyelitis.

We hate doing it because it has no impact on clinical decision making. Even if we said that the surgical margin does not look viable (which I have seen), they're not just going to go in there and hack off some more leg. They will wait and see how the patient does clinically. Just one of these stupid bureaucratic things I guess.

no, both med campus and main campus are both in pretty decent parts. med's is officially within the city limits (main is in the county), and the CWE does have more crime.. I've been a victim x2 since I started working down there again in June '05- theft of a credit card, theft of my license plate renewal stickers (apparently a hot commodity in both STL and KC). I've heard of others being victims of muggings, but don't know anyone personally.

sometimes I'm at my office until 8 or 9, which makes me mildly uncomfortable, but I try to have everything ready to go so I can walk out with my last client. 👍
