this is our stress relief thread....or our group anxiety thread, whatever..... :laugh: 😀

I ended up getting an 87 on the friggin' hardest exam of my life (orgo). So in our class exercises and practice exams we learned all the typical alkene reactions plus regio/stereochemistry, but most of the exam questions were like "Here's your reactant, what's the most likely catalyst and products and is there one more favored than the other?" :barf:


Plus seriously obscure questions about lab exercises.

I'm glad I pulled off an 87, but there's no curving in this class, and it looks like I'm stuck in solid B-land for Orgo and Physics.

Now I have to ask the question: will adcoms hate me for having B's in orgo and Physics? 😱

Hi guys! 😍

Just stealing a few minutes of internet.

I loved, loved, loved Baylor (Just like i expected to). First interview was bad, really bad. I think the guy was trying to pimp me about English Literature and Russian Politics (both of which relate to my app but still... wtf?)

I loved the second interviewer 😍 She was a complete sweetheart and someone I would love to do a preceptorship or something. She told me she was impressed with me and enjoyed talking to me but I think you never know if that means anything or not.

Now I'm chillin' with some decaf watching my friend's husband play Final Fantasy and debating about when the Diablo II ladder might reset so we can try to rank on it again.

Hey Beary! I finally got the CD I promised you all packaged up. Now I just need to take it to the post office (which shouldn't take as long as it took me to get this much done! LOL)

Hopefully you'll have it by late next week. 😀

And remember how I thought my first interviewer hated me?? Lots of people say that sometimes the "bad" interviews are actually the ones where you come out looking really good!

Hey there! I'm so glad you liked Baylor (though remember that they totally suck compared to U Mich. :meanie: )

Yeah, the WoW ladder is being reset too. It is causing me much confusion and uncertainty.

Thoughts?? San Diego with just my husband and the girls next summer (where there are lots of fun things to do) or Iowa to visit my SIL and her family (in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do! LOL)?

I told my husband I would think about Iowa because he really feels like he owes it to his sister to visit her. Would you feel like taking a trip out there next summer Beary? 😀 That would be probably the only thing to sway me in the Iowa direction!

Ooohhh... Iowa!!!! 😍 There actually is lots of fun stuff to do in Iowa. My niece/nephew is due in early June, so maybe I will take a road trip and spend a few days in Iowa on the way out to meet the baby! I don't know my schedule yet, so can't promise, but would absolutely make an effort to come out to Iowa to meet you and your family! 😍

I can't remember where in Iowa you would be staying. Let me know and I can give you some ideas of stuff to do. Though, I will admit, it might not be quite as exciting as San Diego. 😉 You could check out the hospital and stuff though for residency! It's a VERY NICE hospital.

It's a litte town called Waterloo. I think it's an hour or so from Iowa City but I'm not sure which direction!

:laugh: That would be hilarious. I put people's real names in posts all the time by mistake.

The lady who delivers my mail is SO CHATTY. It's really nice to have a friendly person, but seriously, seeing her means I'm in for a good 20 minutes. And she knows absolutely everything about me. It's amazing what you can tell about a person by studying their mail everyday. Anyway, she knows I'm an aunt since I get mail to "Aunt Beary" and a Dr. since I get mail to "Dr. Beary," knows I'm interested in politics, sports, etc. I can just see if I got a letter literally addressed to Beary - that would require quite the explanation! :laugh:

Well I'm gonna hit the sack and hopefully sleep. I think my nighttime fevers are getting less??!!

Tomorrow I'm going to be stuck listening to the Huskers beat up aTm over the internet since we don't get it on TV. During the game though, I'm going to study placentas and for Step 3. Really. I am.

It's been 6 months since I graduated med school. :scared: Seems like SO MUCH longer than that.

I'm sure I'd have a good time with his sister and her family but I think I'd have a better time in San Diego. And we haven't ever taken a "just us" family vacation (well, our honeymoon I guess!) It seems like all of our travelling is always to visit family so I thought it would be nice for a change. But my husband feels really guilty about the fact that he hasn't visited her in IA for about ten years now (though we see her out here every year!).

We have our check-out and final exam on December 7th. 🙁 But if I finish my final experiment early I might be able to be there for the 5th or 6th. I'll just have to see how quickly I can identify these stupid unknowns!!!

Time for me to try to get to sleep. I'm so excited to meet my niece tomorrow!!! I'll be leaving pretty soon after we all wake up so I might not post before I leave. So bye for a few days if I don't get a chance to get on a computer while I'm gone!

Yeah, that must be really tough. I have sort of been feeling that way about vacations, and I am single! Whenever I have any time off I always go visit family, which of course I love doing. But I sort of want to go back to Vegas, South Dakota, the Rocky Mountains, etc. I had this great vacation planned to Colorado Springs after graduation but it didn't work out.

1) I have had long conversations (PMs back and forth) with people I have no recollection of ever talking to.

2) The funniest PM I received, again from someone I do not recall, was entitled "cilia is weak." :laugh: :laugh:

Hopefully - I still remember my friend's face last night as I kept saying, "and then this guy pimped me about Russian Politics 😱 ..." when I was done she was like, "Okay you gotta explain 'pimp' because apparently that means something entirely different..." (She a mech engr... she got me back describing why she had to go into work this morning... something about a pressure valve... I have no idea.)

Hope you get into Baylor!!! Keep us updated. Same with all you randomites interviewing somewhere. That goes to WilliamsF1, Mr. T, RP, S&M, Durden, etc.

Well I'm going in an hour to get ready for a festival we have called IndiaFest. Not to make S&M jealous but there's going to be lots of yummy Indian food there and various vendors selling clothes, jewelry and the works pretty much.
