how's your studying going guys? are you freaking out? burned out?

this is our stress relief thread....or our group anxiety thread, whatever..... 😀

for those of you that have no idea what the mcat random threads are about, check out molly's explanation:

MollyMalone said:
It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO POST HERE, you're welcome to jump in at anytime. Here's the final tally from part 7:

jlw, you must let me know when Michael Bolton comes by! That will get me down there for sure!
is it not enough for you people that the clown doc was here this morning passing out red foam noses? or that I have actually SEEN the Tooth Fairy, accompanied by a person in a tooth costume?

OMG - Tommorrow is the 15th and there will be screaming from the rooftops... I swear.

In other news, still not complete at Baylor. I'm going to kill San Antonio College and whoever there that takes a week to process and send out a transcript. 😡

dumb placentas!! who needs em?

Nobody. Nobody cares. This is a source of great bitterness in my life at the moment. I actually was going to make a stink about them taking advantage of residents as placenta grossing machines, but apparently somebody recently did this and got the smack put down on them. :scared:

In other bitterness updates, I already have an autopsy tomorrow. Vicodin overdose. I have noticed that for the overwhelming number of autopsies, we already know why they died. 🙄

Anybody else get a flu shot this year? My arm seriously hurts from it! How wussy am I?

OMG - Tommorrow is the 15th and there will be screaming from the rooftops... I swear.

Me too... because I will be halfway done with my first month of autopsy. 😀

As of tomorrow, I will be 9/24 of the way done with first year!

9/96 of the way done with residency!

OK, somehow that doesn't make me feel that much better. 🙄

Nice smack down though 🙂

Very nice smack down. I like smack downs with data out the hundredth of a percentage. 😀

I'm going to start putting smack down on people I think. I literally had a co-resident (in my class!!! not even a senior!!) yell at me today because I haven't done enough autopsies!!! Yes, the service has been relatively slow! Am I supposed to start go killing people?? 🙄

I just ignored him in a very blatant way but sometimes I don't think that works very well from me since I am naturally kind of quiet. Perhaps if I really started yelling sometime that would be really effective.

I'm a scientist. Of course we go to the hundreths place.

on a sidenote, I'm taking an Anatomy and Phys course that I guess is geared for nursing students and I don't remember taking anything easier in my whole life... other than Stats and Physics, of course

Yeah, I took a pathophysiology course in UG as a bio elective after I had finished all my required courses. It ended up being mostly nurses and was taught by a Ph.D. in nursing (I didn't know it was geared towards nurses when I signed up for it). It was UNBELIEVABLY easy.

I'm one of six guys in the class of about 200... which should entice me to go to lecture a lot more, but after I heard the prof go through the most DUMBED down review of gen chem since junior high physical science, I decided I'll just read through the book... two lectures=three tests=three 100s 🙄

This makes me not respect nurses already 😳

I can't even count how many of my senior friends are signed up for Nutrition 101 in the nursing school next semester. What's funny is that it fulfills technical electives for the BMEs.

I wanted to sign up for nutrition metabolism, but they restricted me based on major... 😀 I think they figured out that anyone not majoring in "Nutrition" is just a ringer trolling for an easy A

LOL, i'm an nutrition 101 right now.

wow, definitely wasn't the case at my school. are you a BME major as well?

Last semester senior year:

Ancient Greek IV (kicked my ass but I got a pity A)
Social Psychology (which I loved but was a total joke)
Philosophy of Religion (Loved this class - never missed a lecture)
Intro to Biblical Archaeology (the only thing I learned was how to spell Archaeology 😉 )
Fencing
Archery

My onlyl 4.0 semester at A&M 😉 Gawd I love being a liberal arts major 😉

No S&M, I'm a ChemE. Unfortunately I can't learn about the food pyramid for technical credit 🙂meanie🙂, but I do intend to Pass/Fail quite a few classes next semester. If my advisor starts to complain, I'll just tell him an interviewer told me to enjoy myself this spring and take it easy.

I have had the same prob with SAC. Their ability to process transcript requests is about as quality as their faculty. *thinks about the Alg prof that spoke about himself in the third person and told TypeA that she was dumb* 🙄

Yes, definitely take it easy. I took 12 hours (the minimum to be full time) of total fluff my last semester of UG. 👍

ahh, chemE is also v. cool. 👍
don't worry, i couldn't take the food pyramid for credit either.

I am in Nutrition too. But it is Bio 217. I thought it was going to be a total joke...NO WAY. Damn. It is being taught by a prof with a Ph.D. in Path and I have learned more about Bio in Nutrition than I have learned in Bio! I was expecting food pyraminds from day 1....no such luck.

ME TOO! I am decent at archery though it has been many years. One of these days I will have to see what I can do a gun...well, other than skeet shooting.

There are tons of shooting ranges around here since it is Militia-gan and all. Sometime I really want to try it. And fencing just looks so totally awesome!

Edit: TypeA, we should go target shooting together next time you are up here!! 🙂

I might take some Art History, but trust me, I'll be scanning the syllabus on the first day for anything like BB's scrapbooks. Possible replacement: archaeology. A sample ratemyprofessor.com comment: "If you don't get an A in this class, consider yourself legally ******ed."

you are in Ann Arbor though... are you talking about closer to Livingston county and up in Whitmore Lake ?

wow, sounds intense!

ps: the flu shot made my arm sore for a half day or so. you're not a wimp. or if you are, i'm one too. 😛

My best guy friend was ChemE... but now he works for the State Department 😕

Guess that makes as much sense at a ChemE going to med school.

In other news: Ana has drunk 1/2 a bottle of cheap wine by herself and si starting to feel it. Perhaps I Should back off til my dinner is ready

I'm sorry your arm hurt, but glad to hear it was only a half a day!!

My left arm has sort of been hurting anyway (though is better now), got a relatively new PICC line in my right arm, and now got a flu shot in my left arm. I'm just taking out both arms. Also, people all day were friendly punching me in the arms. 🙄

HA HA HA. Beary is funny. "Hey." ROFL.

I am actually a kick-ass shot at both. I thought about trying out for the A&M archery team for that spring season but decided it wasn't worth it. Wish I had figured that out sooner 🙁
