Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

Okay so since I still haven't heard from Vandy I'm alittle nervous. Should I call them tommorrow and ask them when I'll hear or just sit and wait?

The mail is bad down here I'm scared I might have missed a letter. 🙁

Well, I'm going to bed - yes, at 9:30. 😱

Hopefully I don't have any autopsies tomorrow - or if I do, it's early at least. I would like to get out of here in good time for my drive to Cincy!

jlw- OMG I wanted to kill people in Walmart today (she called me while I was dodging shoppers!). Ladies - PMS and Walmart during pre-Thanksgiving shopping DO NOT MIX.

At any rate, I'm going to take my nightly hive medication and go nighty-night.

Yup...I can relate to that one oxeye.

Of course, there was also the time I worked in news...stress city...a 19 day migraine ensued. I worked for CitySearch for a very short time...AWFUL. Management was demanding and completely unforgiving...they downloaded everything you did from your laptop everyday. I believe that is beyond the micromanagement label. It can always be said that my most successful position was also the worst. 10-14 hour days with a business partner who was never satisfied...she started embezzling $$$... and then to top it off assaulted me. So, yeah, I guess everyone has jobs that they hate...or many of them.

What is it about the holidays in particular that turns people further into obliviots????????

I wish I had my grad school schedule. I used to work in my lab from 8pm-3am and then do the shopping around 3:30am. Peaceful!

Ugh you have my sympathy 🙁
No PMS here but I'm still not looking forward into fighting the HEB crowds tommorrow to get supplies for the weekend. What makes it worse is that shopping is a family affair here, so any time I need even milk I have to wade armpit deep into a sea of humanity. (Did I mention I have a phobia of large crowds? 👎 Yeah not fun 😛 )

I just cried over a dead little baby. 😳 She was so cute and came down in a little jumper with a little hat and a stuffed animal. 🙁

Anyway, we have one autopsy this morning which is my co-HOs. Pray please that another one doesn't come in before 1! Because that will be mine, which will mean I won't get out of here until this evening!!

All right, I'm signing out placentas at 9. Can I get my whole day's work done before then? :meanie: *commences flurry of activity*

The more time I spend around the hospital, the more scared I am of having children. So much can go badly wrong.

so did you also autospy the stuffed animal for abnormalities too? Why would they send all that down? 😕

Glad you slept. I slept crappy. S&M how'd you sleep only 5 hrs 😱

I talked with someone about how they couldn't do the PICU for that reason, but they are in the NICU and I was thinking that for the most part it is a different subject matter. For the PICU children are either trauma or very very sick, for NICU, its usually a defect, bacterial infection, premie, etc and usually birth is better than death. I think I could remain subjective in the NICU but not the PICU. 🙁


Last night I was trying to find some stuff and I found a website for a girl who had my own name. Her parents created a memorial for her, she died the day after she was born (pulmonary issues) in 2000. That made me even more depressed at 1am. 🙁

because everything has to go with a kid.. tragic way of thinking, but what if there were a substance on the stuffed animal which may have contributed to the death? etc etc etc... 🙁

sorry you have to see all of that, beary. I'm not looking forward to my first death at the hospital. I pray every day I go in- "Please don't let any kids die today."

well, i came back from the hockey game (go terriers!!) and our after-hockey game dinner and it was 12:15...at that point i had to pack everything for my thanksgiving trip to CT. so i went to bed at 1:30, and got up at 6:30. 🙁

No stuffed animal autopsy. Usually folks are just sent down with their clothes on (or hospital gown, etc., whatever they died in). We have lockers for their personal belongings down there that are picked up with them when the funeral directors come. Usually the family takes their belongings before they come down to us. That was part of what made me sad - like the family wanted this little baby to have the stuffed animal with her even after she had passed. 🙁

The guy we autopsied yesterday (an older gentleman) had on a Michigan t-shirt and shorts. That made me sad too.

really? not where I am.. we take everything, even tubing and stuff. 🙁 if it's from the ED, anyway. may be a little different if the pt was in the hospital for a while and it was somewhat expected. I imagine they'd get the important stuff (stuffed animals) back eventually, but I dunno.

Yes, that is how it is here. Tubing, etc., everything stays if the death was in the ED or the OR. Expected inpatient deaths they can either take out the medical waste or leave it (and then we take it out).

For ED and OR deaths, obviously we huck the medical waste, but any personal belongings (clothes, jewelry, in this case a stuffed animal, etc.) always goes to the funeral home with the body. Then of course the family can take it if they want.

homicidal, I tell ya. there is no place else that I go where I get bumped into, hit by carts, stuck in the middle of a blocked aisle because someone won't move, etc etc etc from the time I pull into the parking lot until the time I leave it.

on a peripherally related note- my walmart excursion on Saturday was in part to get some superglue to fix the sole of a shoe. did you know you have to be 18 to buy superglue? I gave the girl crap for not carding me. 😳 😀
