how's your studying going guys? are you freaking out? burned out?

this is our stress relief thread....or our group anxiety thread, whatever..... 😀

for those of you that have no idea what the mcat random threads are about, check out molly's explanation:

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Awww, you guys, I got a "care package" from the Iowa MSTP! 😍 They put all sorts of cute little things in there. Candy, cards, pictures, etc. So so sweet.

Though somebody put a Tony Stewart hat in there. (Right idea, wrong team. 😉 )

I think I heard on the radio that they've raised over $1mil in the last 12 years that they've been doing this? Definitely a cool thing. Old coworker of mine is a supervisor at the agency which benefits, so that makes it all the nicer, too!

Wow, that's impressive. Read a sad stat today...HIV/AIDS is expected to be a top 5 killer worldwide soon (if it already isn't up there yet). Most of those will come from developing countries 🙁

Okay guys, I really hate to sound obnoxious so you guys can tell me to shut up if you like but I've gotta make this decision by the end of December and it's killing me (I promise to help out the people trying to make this same decision in April). San Antonio vs. Houston

San Antonio:
Awesome Organ-based curriculum
Awesome student life/student body
Closer to my dad should something happen
Place just "feels" right (felt totally at home with the people I interviewed with)
I could get a dog!
but...
Facilities are a bit more run-down
San Antonio is a great town, but I know no one there.
And still waiting on a scholarship offer.

Houston:
Great clinicals
Great brand new facilities thanks to Allison (Sim man labs, beautiful gross anat labs, etc)
Houston is great, and my best friend lives there (read: support network)
Great student housing/rec center
Oh yeah and 10k a year
but...
Curriculum looks traditional and scary as hell.
Not so great Step I pass rates/scores
I hear it's about as diverse as a Pat Green Concert.
Parking sucks ass.

Ugh - I don't know what to do. 🙁 I guess it all comes down to money from SA. If they offer me as much as Houston I'll go there in a heartbeat but I'd be a complete idiot to turn down that money, huh? 🙁

I really like that curriculum too... to me it's a toss up between where I *think* I'd be insanely happy and 40k 🙁

My opinion Ana - go to SA. I think your happiness is worth a lot more than $40k. You're going to be making a physician's salary - $40k is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
