Wow the Texas match thread was so stressful for me and I *knew* where I was going to end up. 🙁

I'm so sad - seemed like so many really great applicants didn't match. Is it that way every year? (like you guys would know 😉 Except maybe Evo)

Ugh - and I get to do this again for residency! Oh joy joy! 😛

DVN: Do you know when UT-H will let you know?

No. This year was much worse than the past. It may have been that only about 15-30% of the seats were availabe. Whereas obviously 100% were up for grabs in years past.

Really depressing for these guys. A friend of mine didn't end up matching and it's damn hard to see that. 🙁

Ugh 🙁 I'm sorry to hear that.

I really think they need to do away with the match or do away with prematch... they just don't seem to work together.

btw, i friggin hate hepatitis B serologies..... damn it, beary/Evo, this crap is like the clotting cascade for me... ive learned it as a 1st year, 2nd year, step 1, and now again for IM. this crap doesnt stick! as long as i retain it for 28 more hours ill be happy. then i can always look it up in a book later. :laugh:

2 more oral exam topics. ideally i would get a chance to go through the board review book for the shelf exam once today and then rapid review through the 15 oral topics for a 2nd look. i dont know how likely that is though, i have anemia and MIs left and anemias are so damn broad and i know that alone will take me 2 hours. =/

ok, let me get off of here before my break turns into slacking. :laugh:

Hey, good luck on your WL. I am sitting on 2 right now and looks like a rejection from UTH maybe a WL.

Ive decided to retake b/c at two of my interviews, I was specifically told that is basically a numbers game. Oh well.

I called them this morning, they said they don't have any status information for me...if they dont have any, I don't know who does....I was basically told that to wait after May 15...🙁

I know. That's what an arbitration is even though it's not in the gov't's court of law. The parties agree to the decision the arbitrator makes and cannot take the case to the court if they don't like the decision that's been given to them. 😛

Damn man, that sucks. I thought I read in pre-allo you had an acceptance at some point. 😕

If I don't get into med school this cycle, I'll be taking 3-5 years off. I'll think about reapplying at that point. No way in hell will I reapply every cycle til I possibly get in.

I think I would have reapplied once but then called it quits and gone on to Plan B.

you're going on taping for conan? do you know who the guests are? I went to letterman a few years back and the guest were cokie roberts (some newswoman) and steve martin :barf:

I'd probably have to retake the MCAT and I'd want to submit my AMCAS early in June. This cycle's waitlists don't end til about July in a lot of cases. It would also leave time to study and do everything well in advance if I push it back a few years. I'd also like to take some time off and not think about this crap anymore and when will I hear back for secondary, interview, acceptance, etc.

Damn...I just read that entire TMDAS (sp?) Rep of TX thread. Wow. I feel so bad for those that had to go through the match and didn't get in (even when a pre-match offer was their #1 listing). 🙁

I think that's a TMDSAS glitch - if it was pre-match and they ranked it #1 it should still hold. First year with prematches and it's a tiny bit insane! 😱

Haven't heard word from Mushy - she's avoiding us 🙁

Woke up to 0 degrees, but it warmed up to 11 with a windchill of -3. Weather.com has a 10-day forecast with temps above freezing next week. Finally!

Heather Graham is f'n hot and Lewis Black is pretty funny. Should be a good show. Is that airing tonight?
