Sad. Pizza's the best. My every-friday-night junk food. Except for this weekend, since Mama cooked today. It'll be tomorrow that the pizza comes. Oh, if I could only keep this metabolism forever... I know my time is limited.

OK, my 1000th post HAS to be about pizza.


I really like to make this one at home - it's very quick and has few ingredients.

Dough - about 1 cup regular flour, a bit of salt, 1-2 tablespoons oil, 1/3-1/2 cup water. Mix and roll it really thin. I like to roll it on a sheet of foil, so I can easily transfer it to the grill (yeah, I make mine on a grill - never tried this one in a stove).

Toppings - a little bit of mozza (not much), shelled cooked prawns (shrimp, whatever they call 'em around your parts), pesto (homemade recipe follows), feta cheese, and sundried tomatoes.


Just spread the toppings on (don't layer too heavy) and top everything with a little bit of pesto - don't put too much on, it's very greasy. Throw it on the grill for literally 5, MAXIMUM 10 mins on low flame.


Pesto:

chop basil in a food processor
add about 1/2 cup oil
run the food processor again, you should have a fairly liquid paste
add shredded/grated parmesan to taste (1/4-1/3 cup for me)
add pine nuts to taste (1/4-1/3 cup for me)
a little bit of lemon juice, salt
Run the food processor again until everything blends into a smooth paste


SO GOOD! I ripped it off from this restaurant chain around here.

My advice - become addicted to Vietnamese or Japanese food. Still take-out, but tons of healthy options that still taste good.






I ordered soft shell crab maki and tuna and salmon sashimi tonight. I order the sashimi 4 out of 5 times, but this is my 1st time trying the crab maki.

Ummmm I would have to travel 1 hour to get that kind of food 🙁

It's pizza and burgers where I live 🙁

But I LOVE Asian foods of all kinds!

I just keep thinking this is it.. I can't believe i'm going to turn it in without decent MCAT scores... ahhh.

BUT the good scores WILL come, they WILL make it through, my application will turn out just fine.. and maybe (hopefully, prayerfully) a couple places might want a second look at me.... 👍👍

For this cascade to begin, however, it's back to studying. Sigh.

No, too focused on orgo...but I think I WILL be nervous once they start verifying it, since I hear sometimes it takes forever, and other times they put it on hold for no good reason.

Oh yeah, I did smth stupid, too - I made up my AMCAS with my US SSN, but took my MCAT with my Canadian SIN. There's no way to change this now (I'd change the SIN part to SSN, not the other way around). Talk about DUMB. I can totally see how this could translate into a verification delay.

😀 I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. What creeps me out about my Avenue Q CD is that it is a burned copy gifted to me by an at-the-time 17 y/o client of mine. I'm like, "Uh... should you be listening to this?" But then again, knowing her, she could teach me a few things. 🙄


btw, I rode the SI Ferries every day in grad skool. 😍 tres cool view of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. (that was when the WTC was still there.. it's sad now.)

Oh fun... I'm sticking with AMCAS only this year, and probably next. There aren't any close D.O. schools, and I would rather bite the bullet and stick it out another year to make it MD and closer to home.

So I just remembered how much I loved Tato-Nut (potato) donuts as opposed to regular ones.... And they make 'em filled now too. I'll never be able to live more than 4-6 hours away from Tato-Nut. (Really 2-4 is far enough). In all honesty, I guess that means I'll be a Coast-onian (as my 'inland' friends like to laugh at me) until the day I die...

I gotta load up on BCPM classes to raise my BCPM GPA for next year, in case I don't get in.


I have to go full-time in the spring...right now all I have planned for sure is:

Calc II (only if I'm in the running at Duke, so 99% I won't be taking it - it'd kill my GPA) - if not, some fun psych class
Enviro Chem (urgh)

env science and ecology should count as long as you took them from the bio dept. Heck--i took a biopsychology class from the psychology dept. and that counted toward my bcpm.

Ohhh, maybe I should take this 6-credit psych class instead! "Counselling Women" - this should be interesting. The 6-credit class is double the regular load, so I'd be able to use it for 2 classes. It's not going to count for BCPM, but it WILL be beneficial to my cumulative.

I'm applying to this Canadian school where I'll get an automatic interview because of my MCAT and b/c I have 1 undergrad year above 3.7...but then the acceptance (if I get one, it's 25% chance after the interview) would be conditional on this coming year being above 3.7, so I have to make sure I don't take too many awful science courses.

Oh, they have a biomedical ethics class! That'd help for the interviews (both US and Canadian). Maybe I should take that in the fall instead of Psych as a Natural Science, and take that class in the spring.

Thanks! Good to know. I would LOVE to end up somewhere around DC, and GWU and Johns Hopkins are off my list already for various reasons, so this is comforting.
