Our lovely Randames.

Morning....ugggh, I'm so cranky! I shouldn't have slept from 2 PM to 1 PM.👎

I just realized I have to go to the hospital today, for orientation...Not feeling like it. Especially because I have to go to the teen one!🙄 The next adult orientation is scheduled while I'm away, and the one after that is not till September, and I kind of wanted to get all the organizational things out of the way before I leave, so I can start once I'm back. I hope the teens enjoy my company.:meanie: I hear they get to do such awesome things as deliver ice water to patients....how fulfilling.:meanie::laugh:

Hey guys, I need your help.

I only got a 42 on the MCAT and my grades dropped this semester cause I got the "-itis". So instead of the 4.0, I only have a 3.994.

Do you think I should still apply this cycle or should I wait? Should I do post-bacc? How about those one year master's programs?

helllllllllllp!!!!

Why do you have to make fun of me? It hurts. 🙁

i love frogs and lizards!!! i also love snakes (nice snakes--not mean poisonous snakes) flying and thunderstorms don't bother me.

My phobias are spiders and millipedes. i run away crying like a little baby at the sight of one. i get these little tiny millipedes in my house and they practically give me a heart attack.

also horseflies......ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Frogs and lizards are slimy which is why they creep me out. However, you are right in that spiders are creepier and really make me scream. I don't get millipedes in Fl. but we do get roaches and those things especially make me scream too if I see one.

Snakes, well if they are someone else's pet and in a cage then I have no issue with it, but if I see a snake like outside in a parking lot or outside the house then I'd be creeped out because I don't know whether or not they are poisonous.

I hate spiders....though it's gotten better, now I'm pretty cool with the small ones and can go look at the bigger ones at the zoo or at their pictures in a book - I used to not even be able to look at a PICTURE of a spider. I almost freaking DIED one day in Montenegro when we climbed up this mountain to a deserted castle and there were spiders the size of an apple dangling off of every single tree branch.😱 😱 😱

I had a really weird dream last night, which had me studying very intensely for the MCAT....😕 :scared: I mean, I HAVE thought a bit about retaking, but not very seriously, and I definitely decided not to consider it until I'm done with physics anyway.🙄 So yeah, that was pretty random. I was getting 12s and 13s though.:meanie:

I think you should just give up. There's no way even a Caribbean school will take you now.

Nikki, you be-yotch!!!! You had to go and tell me about the cinnamon Wheat Thins, didn't you? Just HAD to. 😡

(damn these things are gooooooooooooooooooood :biglove: )

cinammon and wheat thins are two things I love, but I've never heard of cinammon wheat thins. I will have to look this up the next time I go to publix (our grocery store in Fl.).

😍

So I just got back from my hospital volunteer orientation. I had to go to the "teen" one, b/c the "adult" orientation was next week, when I'm out of town...I met some gunners.:meanie: We all had to introduce ourselves, and I made a conscious choice of NOT mentioning anything about applying to med school or being interested in the career of a physician. Some girls were like, "I'm thinking about a career in medicine, so I just wanted to see what working in a hospital is like" - cool, right. Then this little one is like "Hi, my name is Cynthia, I'm 15, and I am going to become a doctor." It was so hard for me to keep a straight face...there was also another one, who was 13 and said she wanted to be a pediatrician, but hey, whatever...it was that certainty at age 15 that got me.

Guys, I don't remember if I have already bragged about this here or not, but if I have, it never hurts to brag 2x...I recently found out that one of the 2 Canadian schools I'm applying to for sure (U of Calgary, my in-province school) happens to weigh the WS score quite heavily....so point-wise, my 32 T puts me on the same level as someone with a 35-36 P....and all I must say is "RIGHT ON!!!!:hardy:" 👍:meanie: I'm so stoked.👍

Haha, yeah, but it sucks for people who can't write worth $h%#.... There's someone on our forum with a 39N or smth like that, and several schools that'll take my 32T with open arms are off-limits to him, which I'm sure sucks big time. However, while some Canadian schools look at the MCAT ONLY for cut-off purposes (e.g. it doesn't matter if you have 40 or 30 once you've passed the 10-10-10 cut-off), there are indeed some where the total score matters - U of C being one of them, and Manitoba gives the MCAT 50% weight for out-of-province applicants. So at least there's some variety across the board, so both people with average and with high MCATs get a chance.

Man, yeah, that sucks. Making progress on kinetics. Woohoo. And I'm beginning to think after teaching myself so much physics, the fall is going to be a breeze...

Well, I hope he isn't, just because there are already a few out there.:hardy:

Yeah, I just saw one. Didn't like it though, showed my chances waaay too realistically. I need one that is skewed towards getting in. F*&^ realism for the next 51 days, I need all the assurance and encouragement I can get.

Well, it's kind of obvious, probably, but still, may I suggest applying to WashU?:hardy:

If only I lived closer.. 👎

Holding out hope for my state school. If I get 2 A's this summer, my BCPM will go up to a 3.82... and that'll pad me a little for that interview cutoff magic number. With about 4-5 points on MCAT, I'll be sitting right in the middle of their average admission magic number 🙂
