(and I have no idea what the song is without looking)
there's a 7500 song?
it's taking me pretty long to get up to the 3000 milestone 🙄

Took my last FL - 31 🙂 👍

Now it's just light review and keeping those scores awesome for the real deal.

When's the test? I'm assuming the 20th?

Good luck!!! We'll pray you get the same scores on the real deal. Just have faith in yourself.

Nope... Thursday is my big day!! The 9th!

(the 20th was the first day of classes...haha)

Thank you! I have faith, prayers, my 45T "t"shirt, and Jif-To-Go (peanut butter is good for the brain, so sayeth the ACT proctors) Let's get it done!

We gave our old MCAT instructor a tshirt that said: "The MCAT Is My Bitch" a few years ago. It was hillarious.

Haha... that's awesome. I'm usually not too superstitious/luck-seeking, but I've worn that shirt for all my 30+ practice tests soooo I'm seeing a trend. If nothing else it is confidence boosting to look down and see the "45T":laugh:.

I'm back! We returned a little earlier - planned to stay till tomorrow afternoon, but the night was freezing and he got a nasty head cold, so we decided to call it a day and just wait a few days until it warms up some more. We're planning to go to the mountains probably this Friday, for 2-3 days this time. There's nice horseback riding and fishing there, and this time we won't be as stupid and will actually bring more blankets, and I'll grab my jacket, so we aren't freezing as soon as the sun sets. Here's where we went - it's unofficially called "the dinosaur valley," because there are lots of dinosaur fossils in the area. These weird sandstone hills are shaped by erosion and they call them "hoodoos." They have a lot of writings on them, made by local Native tribes (mostly Blackfoot) in the 1700s and later - the most recent dated to roughly late 1800s, so the park is named "Writing-On-Stone."

I have 2 more secondaries left
and one of which I havent even received yet (drexel)

why would med schools screen anyway
secondaries are free money for them
I dunno, considering I'm already at $2500 (if you count the MCAT), I'm just fine with getting rejected pre-secondary as opposed to being drained of another couple of hundred dollars with the same result.

Must....remove....another....98 characters....from....secondary response...aaaah.:scared:

Don't forget to nix your past/present/future progressive verbs (we had been going = we went)

I found I could cut a lot out by doing that.
Yeah, I play around with the grammar and also cut out uninformative words like "often" and the likes.

I didn't save my initial AMCAS essay but I had over 7000 characters initially and miraculously weeded it down for them and then more so to 4500 for AACOMAS. I hate that though because it seemed too choppy in the end.

Oh well.

Ah, finally got the grade for the first half of my physics lab reports - managed to pull a 92.5%, which is an A+ here, and so my average now is also a weak A+. Hopefully this compensates for how I think I did on the midterm. *shudder*

Howdy folks! Been a while...but I think I'm finally emerging from thesis hell. How's everyone's summers going?

Nice pics Jochi!

Ooo, and good luck with the secondaries :luck:
Thanks! So far I've submitted all the ones I have. AMCAS still "ready for review..." *sigh* I'm focusing on physics now, which is getting more and more unpleasant with every single second.👎 Stupid optics sucks...

I have to admit that I'm still pretty clueless about applying to the American schools 😳 I take it you're still waiting for more secondaries?

Man, I gotta work on the post counts. I thought just maybe there was a song for 1500 posts, but I gotta keep moving along to 2000. Soon as I defend my thesis, I should be here more

Yeah, I'm waiting for 27 more. LOL.🙄 My Canadian ones are all done except for Alberta - gotta respond to a few more short essay questions there. I forget, are you an MS/MPH student?

I found I could cut a lot out by doing that.

Or you could take long big words and try to find a synonym which is smaller.

For instance if you say, I possess the following characteristics, you take the word characteristics and change it to "traits" so that it is half the length.

Or take the word "posses" and change it to "have"

Or if you say "demonstrate" or "illustrate" change it to "show" or something equally short.

In reviewing personal statements this past summer, I've found this tip a little useful for people who've been over the limit.
