I doubt we're gonna have this here....it sounds too perverted for Canadian tastes.:laugh: We do, however, have a Double BigMac available at all the McDonald's here...no clue who ever orders those things, though.

Haha.. its a really thin crusted dessert pizza at Domino's... with vanilla, oreos, and icing. Sigh. *drools*

Hello again to all the randomites! I tried to keep myself off SDN for a few days and I had to go through like 4 pages to find where I left off! (HAD to work on that pesky PS . . . yes, SOOOO late, but que sera sera, I'm going for it this year and that's final! To h*ll with the naysayers . . . and all of my money!)

Anyway, yes, a lurker from the 'Lou! It's fun to think I may be mere blocks, single- or double-digit miles away from some of you right now (the internet is a weird, weird place! Pingouin - where did you do your post-bacc stuff? I've been at WashU . . . Maybe I know you. 🙂) Well, I should say I'm not actually from the 'Lou but "passing through." I first came here for my art history grad program four years ago . . . and pretty much thought I'd be outta here in two, on to the PhD somewhere super-uber artsy like New York . . . but plans are made to be broken, and once I decided that studying objects felt awfully shallow, I embarked on this post-bacc pre-med path, got a job, got married, and felt like I settled here. But, my hubby is definitely done with this place (I think we're nomads by nature), and so I'm applying everywhere but Missouri/StL schools! (actually not applying to that many . . . just to schools in cities we've decided we'd be happy in. Ooh . . . I just ended that sentence with a preposition . . . bad!)

Anyway, that's me in nutshell right now. (How did I get in this nutshell?) I need to get back to my dang PS, but thanks for the welcome and keep the randomness coming!

Sheesh... I just got back from the anatomy lab and folks were spouting off innervations and blood supply with relative ease. I wasn't. I think I have a lot of work to do. Time to get busy...

My grandfather went in to have his stents redone this morning. The right side is still completely occluded...no dye would go through, so he has to keep the urostomy. The left side was difficult as well. I just wish things would get better for him.. he's been through enough..🙁

OK, it's been nearly a month for me since I last heard smth definitive from med schools... (i.e. not a hold) It's time for another interview or another rejection!

Great job, Dr. B! Congrats!!

I totally forgot abt my micro test tomorrow.. and it's a killer (survey of microbes section). Remembered at about 5 oclock during physics, and spent the next 3 hrs in the library hashing over it with a friend.

Getting a bath and some caffeine and it's back to the book. 🙁

At least I went to the Science Syncytium's Symposium Lecture today (on the Genomics of Lyphedema - which was very interesting btw), and that's a +5 on tomorrow's test 👍 and +10 on physics quiz!

After getting depressed by all the acceptances today (and i'm still interviewless... now my "complete" file doesn't look as exciting as it did... way to go me for hanging in PA and checking acceptances), I'm going to bed.

Thankfully, there were no acceptances mentioned yet for my #1 or #2 👍 (So i'm not really that upset)

Congrats to our randomites who got accepted today. That's something I DEFINITELY didn't get depressed over. I'd like to be in a med school class with every one of you. 😍


OK, it's really bedtime now. Lecture @ 8 followed by a bit of studying (ca 3 more hrs) and the micro beast.

I appreciate it 🙂 Unfortunately, I woke waaay before the med schools opened, so no interviews under the pillow. But maybe later today!

Micro test awaits this afternoon. That's throwing me off... usually our tests are at eight (but our class sucks so bad at taking them he added an extra one so it's during lab period).

I'm going to re-gram stain my unknown one last time, now that I think I know what it is, and see if it looks like E coli under the microscope. 👍

OMG, I'm worried sick right now....The deadline for Calgary apps was yesterday, and I submitted well ahead...but then today people were talking about some section where you had to describe 5 activities in detail, which I never saw!!! Apparently, it was basically hidden - you only got that section after you clicked the "done" button in the EC section (I just clicked "save" and it saved all of my ECs). The section was also NOT on the app checklist - everything else was, and everything had a green checkmark next to it showing that I had completed every single part of the application. And when I submitted, nothing popped up saying I missed a section, either! So basically, the app had this section that was NOT on the list, and it let me submit without filling it out, so I've submitted an incomplete app!😱 :scared:

I'm FREAKING OUT now...I e-mailed the office, hopefully something can be done about it. :scared: :scared: :scared: I called and it just goes straight to voicemail...

OMG, I called the office again and got an answer this time...and they said they have received multiple calls about this today, but they can't do anything until the Admissions Director makes the decision on this! She said if the Director refuses to let people add this info, my app would still go through...but I'd be missing a chunk of my app, so obviously I'd be less competitive compared to people who DID have this section!!!

ARGHHH!!!! I'm gonna have a heart attack now. She said it might be a few days before the A.D. gets back to them about this!!!


I hope that given that MULTIPLE applicants called about this, they'll let us add this info!


To quote someone else from the MCAT forums, I'm gonna go get drunk and lie on the train tracks now.

What a great start to the day. After driving to work a bit early hoping to get a head start on procedures, I come to HSC campus to see about forty fire engines blocking off access to the parking structure. Apparently some jackass tipped over a LIQUID OXYGEN TRUCK right in front of Keck and they had to evacuate the parking structure. Now every other parking lot on the entire campus is full and I had to park in BFE about two miles from my building and hoof it to the lab. 😡+pity+

Hopefuly no one lights up and blows up the whole campus 😛

i'm having a similar crisis here

I had my file complete since august and a school that shall remain nameless filed everything away without marking me complete. I just called today and they apologized and sent my file over immediately. 😡

Ahhh, I knowwwwwwwwww....U of C is one of my top choices, too!🙁 And I think it's also the one of my top choices where I stand the greatest chance of admissions!👎

OK, I managed to find out who the Dean of Admissions were (took a good amount of Googling and a phone call to the Dean of the school :laugh:) and shot her an e-mail.:scared:
