OK.......

For the second time, since some of Mush's posts got deleted and sent her numbers just PLUMMETING from 31K to 25K posts ...

*cues up We Are the Champions by Queen, cranks volume to 10, and encourages everyone to scream the lyrics at the top of their lungs in honor of Mushy's re-30,000th post*

(I know I've had better DJing moments- sorry- it was a long and not-fun day at the hospital)
blah, its ok. 😀 I don't really care anyway. I'm sure my post count will drop again. Sadly I'd probably be at 50K by now b/c I was at 35K before they dropped me (or something like that). Sad part is now I hardly participate in random threads

How is everyone? Huge exam tomorrow. Need to be studying. Will be doing that all day again today. I feel no matter how much I study its just not sinking in.

I hear hubby snoring. 🙄 (Post-call)

Pretty much the same. I have several exams at the end of the week and I'm pretty burned out. Anyway, good luck on your exam on Monday! :luck:

:luck: tomorrow!

Here all is status quo... grandfather's bloodwork looked better today, he's dialyzing again today for 3.5 hrs. In the midst of all this, my great grandmother is turning 85, so it's bday party day (and its a huge one). Off to run last minute errands, get her, and party.

the party went great..anf grandfathers creatinine and bun are down from 10.4 to 5.6 and 110 to 40 (before todays dialysis) so he should look like a different patient tomorrow. hopefully tomorrow we'll start getting some 'why' answers.

gnite guys!

That's good to hear that the creatinine and bun levels are back down. Its gotta be rough going for dialysis all the time. We have a family friend who's grandma has been going through this for the past few years and was fortunate enough to be able to get a kidney transplant this past week on Thursday. She's still in the hospital but doing fine from what I hear. When she woke up from surgery she was being cute talking to the doctors in gujarati asking them to remove the tube from her nose. That's what my parents told me. My dad started laughing when he heard what she said from her son.

The transplant was done by USF's transplant team at our main teaching hospital which was kinda cool and neat to know because I know the guy who had headed up the transplant team in TGH several years ago. He's now retired though due to medical reasons.

Yep! 🙂

PS. Halloween is awesome!

CONGRATS! You will do great!!! Here's hoping to an acceptance.

I agree on the Halloween is awesome part. I love getting together with the little kiddies at ACH and setting up fall festival for them where we have pumpkin painting, face painting, games and prizes for the winner, and in door trick or treating for the kids. There's also food and drinks for the kids. Its so cute cuz they dress up in their costumes just as long as it is not naughty looking or inappropriate. but its fun. I love working with the kids cuz they are too cute and always have the most adorable outfits.

P.S. I love my masters program so much.. Classes are so much easier to understand then undergrad even though we learned the same material in undergrad. 😛

How's everyone else doing? Any special plans like Halloween parties this week for anyone? or med school halloween parties?? 😉 😉

Ok I'm off to the med school to study for micro and figure out what I need to do for my assignment that is due tomorrow.

grandfather is doing better today. no dialysis orders for tomorrow... just kinda a wait and see to see if his kidneys will start workin on their own. he's in much better spirits today which is always good.

baby blayne is doing well, she got off the jet today and is back on the regular vent (an improvemnt). all my illness updates are complete lol.

unless things change I'm headed home tomorrow to relax a couple more days and preview my organic and cell phys books.

so.. when's a good time to realize that it's time to reapply? im thinking right now would be fine

strange event of the evening:

friend emailed me yesterday, said she was in SF for a conference.

mutual friend of ours IMs me tonight, said he's in SF for a (different) conference.

I say "Well that's weird, b/c [insert female friend's name here] was out there as of yesterday, but I don't know when she's leaving."

3 minutes later he responds by saying "We're doing breakfast in the morning."

😆

funk... yes, I've fairly resolved myself to this as well. of course there's nothing I can do for now anyway... just wait on apr mcat registartion to open and keep makin the a's. maybe my inteeview is still coming...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MEGBOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

come live in my world... lililand, we don't care for these medical things

Uh, I sometimes want to visit that world, too. Especially this week as I slave over my notes and hacked, dead preserved bodies trying to learn the leg and foot anatomy in less than 2 days before the practical. Yeah. My head is ripe for the chopping block.

Happy Birthday to my Meg-Twin!

My grandfather is finally turning around... they think his acute kidney failure was the result of an obstruction due to the nephrostomy. He's on observation for 24 more hours, lab rechecks, and then possibly they'll remove the IJ. 👍

Made it home.... nothing like family, but nothing like coming home either! About to run errands and clean house... ugh, the joys of being an adult...

Have a fabulous day everyone!

Thanks guys!

I celebrated my big 31 with a 12-hour workday 😱

But my husband was kind enough to have cake and Ben&Jerry's waiting for me at home.

It's a 3some tonight with me, Ben, and Jerry. My husband gets to watch.
