I was volunteering at the elementary school today, and there was a black racer (snake) stuck under the air-conditioning unit. It was pretty big, and so of course the fourth graders are all over it. We were watching some of the teachers try to get it free, which they finally did, and amazingly, the poor thing was alive. It had some cuts on its back, and it had been baking in the sun half the day, but besides that, it was in more than good enough condition to hiss at us with its most threatening hiss. 😛 I think they're going to take it to a wildlife rescue place.

My precious little 3 year old niece loves eating chicken nuggets. It is sort of gross though because she happily dips her chicken nuggets in the caramel sauce for the apples.

Not really. In years past the Ph.D. graduation has been before the MD graduation so the folks would wear the Ph.D. hoods (which are a different color) and then get the MD hood put on as well. This year the Ph.D. graduation is after the M.D. graduation so we will look just like everyone at the med school graduation. We could wear our MD hoods at the Ph.D. graduation though (which I'm not going to attend so it doesn't matter for me). I am sure you will be able to wear your Ph.D. hood at your MD graduation.

We have to guy our cap and gown but just rent our hoods which I think is kind of lame. I would rather keep the hood than the cap and gown. Oh well.

Is your mentor going to hood you?

I had to buy my cap too, but I rented the hood and gown. It's still ridiculously expensive. 🙄 Yes, my mentor is going to hood me, assuming he doesn't forget to show up....I swear, he's the EPITOME of the absent-minded professor. :meanie:

I don't think I'll bother buying the hood, at least for now. I can always buy one later if I want.

*sigh* all I have left is my final in A&P. I have enough points for an A, but anyone that doesn't show up for the final automatically loses a letter grade, even if they have enough points. 👎

I just read somewhere that you could start filling out AMCAS today! I can't remember but I am pretty sure that we didn't start until quite a bit later.

I know Greyhound runs between the Twin Cities and Eau Claire... if renting a car isn't good you might want to check that out.

You will very likely see cows. You will even more likely smell them. 😀

It isn't cold this time of year... how long will you be staying in our pastoral paradise?

You will fit in, I'm sure. You can facilitate this process by eating copious amounts of cheese and other dairy products, by acquiring some green and gold apparel, and watching "That 70's Show" -- things really haven't changed that much. 😉

Sadly, I am not. But next year when I do, I will be applying to both MD and DO schools in Michigan 😉.

Actually, everything in a 500-mile radius I am eligible for is probably where I'll apply to, unless I have an MCAT of 33+.

The best thing I can possibly say right now is that *I* am not applying this year. 😀 And since I did apply to U Mich, I can second beary's enthusiasm for the school. 🙂

On a completely different note, if any of y'all have suggestions for the subforum, please post them. I'm planning to work on it quite a bit this summer. A-man just made an announcement at the top of the MCAT forum.

I started filling mine out yesterday. 😉 I'm applying this cycle. I have pretty much everything pinned on EDP so I hope it works out. It'll suck if they don't accept me that way and I have to potentially wait until April to find out if they want me or not.

I'm applying this cycle but there is no way in hell Mich would ever take me so I'm not going to waste my money. Sorry beary! 🙁

Yup, no UMich for me. 🙁 If I weren't so limited in terms of where I can apply, I would definitely include UMich. As it is, I'm debating applying to some California schools if EDP doesn't work out. I have family in the bay area, so technically I could make UCSF or Stanford work. But seriously - if I could manage to get in to UCSF or Stanford, I sure hope that NV would take me. 😉 And I'd much rather keep living with my husband (who won't move *sigh*) and go to school 5 minutes from where I already live.

i'm feeling like quite the procrastinator.

HOWEVER... I did order my books for the summer. There is no way I'm shelling out 200 for two books I'll never need again

someone actually does but the acct has been dorment for over 4 years now. an admin might delete it for you though so that you can take it if thats what you really wanted. i think drmom did that for someone a couple of months ago when a bunch of people changed their usernames.

yes.........................

lil really, when i retook it in august of '03 i started studying in mid June and it was plenty of enough time. it goes by MUCH faster the 2nd time around.

ehhhhhh... i know i shouldn't look. but the books are looking at me,and they have those sad puppy dog eyes and i can't say no to those eyes.

that just reminded me of this schizophrenic pt i saw at lunch today in the hospital cafeteria. i'm there eating my cheeseburger and then i see this guy in a SERIOUS argument with the empty seet across his table. he kept looking at me, getting up, walking around the cafeteria, sitting down and looking at me again! started to freak me out a little. then he finally got up and went out of my line of sight. when i turned my head around to see if he had left he was standing behind me and just threw his arms in the air and stormed out of the cafeteria. ok....................................

How about subforums for each type of study method, e.g. EK, Kaplan, etc. so people taking those can confer with each other (I think OPM does that- if SDN does already too, sorry.)

It might be fun to also post an "MCAT topic of the day" type forum where people can discuss problems relating to that topic or post MCAT-type questions related to that topic for practice.

Looks like more MCAT gear to me. Earrings, bag, t-shirt (front and back covered), hat, patches on jeans, even shoes. Heck, I could wrap my SUV and go all-out.

I love the earrings though. really.
