hey bananafreak, we got a lecture this morning on high altitude respiration and our professor talked about people in washington and seattle trying to climb mt.rainier in a single day and then dying or needing helicopter rescue because they couldnt adapt quick enough to the altitude changes.

made me think of you... the seattle part, not the dying part. :laugh:

I have kaplan books from another friend and some EC. I'm going ot start ot go through them and see what I like. From my TPR vs. Kaplan overview at the conference I was at, Kaplan is strategy while TPR is content. EC is content as well.

I see I see. If you have the TPR workbook, I recommend you do the whole science workbook and also the in class compendium if you have a hold of that as well. They are both really really really really good science practice and were what was responsible for my score going up 6 pts.

For Verbal I recommend you buying the EK 101 verbal passages book. Also another good practice book is the EK 16 mini MCAT book. All EK books can be bought for a cheaper price at Walmart.com, rather then ExamKrackers.com.

Wow, thanks! Great tips! I was going to head out to walmart/barnes noble tonight to check out a few things. Thanks for the tips. I'm so nervous about this damn test. I need ot do well to have even a shot in HELL of getting in (not to mention ace about 35hrs of coursework this year) :scared: :scared: :scared:

Oh I should probably mention that though Walmart sells EK products, they don't do it in store.

In other words, you have to go directly to their website http://www.walmart.com
and order it on line in the same manner you would order it from Amazon or Ek's actual website.

But walmart is the cheapest legal way of obtaining that material.

Barnes and Nobles sometimes sells the EK 101 book in the stores, but not really many copies available. They might have some more EK stuff on their website though.

If you have all the EK and TPR/Kaplan books you have more then enough study materials.

I'd use EK to supplement either TPR or Kaplan material, but would not try to burden yourself with all 3 sets of books.

Thanks guju. I appreciate the tips 🙂 I'm going to look them over to see what is best for me. I've heard bad things about both. I think I'm going to use princeton for content and use kaplan for tests and strategy (I might take their class). And use EK to supplement. I am devoting so much time to all this next spring. Only going to take 3-4 classes if possible.

On a side note......

Msheaddoc,

Taking a course might be good for additional resources, and proctored timed tests plus abundance of other tests. In Kaplan's case, they have numerous subject and topical tests, as well as, the infamous Qbank that they are known for.

They also got tons of practice tests beyond the 5 they give you with the course.

TPR's good too, though. They also have quite a few extra practice tests and what not. The problem with TPR is they don't have as big of an online resource center as Kaplan does. That's why a lot of people like it better. but go with which ever course gives you a better feel for how you learn best.

YAY. time to play.

I didn't do well in bio 🙁 I gotz a "c" *sobs*

but its all good. I'm packing now and moving in 13 days 😱 School starts 22nd. I'm off till then. STudying some chem from my old textbook that is 10 years old. :laugh:

sucks that your first semester of med school pre-reqs was so bumpy.... 🙁

just dont lose focus.... i'm sure you'll do better from now on mushy. you dont have to have perfect numbers to get into med school, you're allowed to be a little human. 🙂

why are you studying chem? trying to get a head start on next semester?

chem i'm not retaking ... so i figure i'll do a little reading.

Right now I have comics to get rid of. *sigh* I'm NEVER going to get the money for them. 🙁

has anyone seen the do it yourself plastic ear peircing kit
its like a hand held gun preloaded with a earing and backing
you just put ur thumb on the front - put ur ear in the middle of the gizmo and press. its totally disposable...saying that ..who wants to do mine?

My weekend is now complete. I have something to look forward to. As I will be moving Aug 9th - 12th you can prepare adequately for my return with some great words of wisdom and greatness from being a true MS1.
