Nah, as bad as this sounds, I am not really a big fan of USF football and it didn't surprise me that we lost.

Actually, here is a funny story about that though.........

My friend who is now at UMiami and friends with Princess Cyanide Jellybeans, is still a BULLS Fan, and he sat on the USF side even though he's now a UMiami student.

His MS I friends were making fun of him for it. :laugh: :laugh:

Yeah, you wanna know something...........I've never been in snow in my whole life. When I was a kid, like in kindergarten, my rents let my bros go up to Canada to my aunt and uncle's house, during Christmas break, but they wouldn't let me go. Other then that, the only other time I've been up north has been during summer months.

speaking of snow, im thinking of going to new york for new years. has anyone been there before? this would be my first time going there, and on new years, that would be so crazy! 🙂

You know when I was in highschool, I wanted to do that sooooooooo badly. But I don't think I'd want to go to time square alone.

Perhaps Nikki is suffering a different aspect of PostMCATstressdisorder.

The Dx is still PMSD

The symptoms include: Stress of AMCAS, secondaries, getting LORs in, and waiting for interviews, and then praying for acceptances.

Included in the symptoms are also the stress of funding AMCAS, secondaries, interview travel expenses, etc.

The Rx is to have a medical school give her an acceptance letter or 2 or 20.

Furthermore, to cure PMSD, the adcom should also prescribe to her a nice financial aid packet and acceptance to HMS amongst the others.

I concur with your Dx doctor but I also want to point out that after the resolution of PMSD many people go on to develop MSSD or "MedSchoolStressDisorder" also known as "MedStudentStressDisorder". That disorder is characterized by the realization that: you dont know ****, that everything you've worked for in your life and studied for in your life was absolutely pointless and ONLY served to get you in the door and that now you still have FOUR YEARS of major league studying to do.

Many people with MSSD wonder "what the **** am I doing this to myself for?!?!" and "OMG, I am way over my head, I feel like crawling into a hole and dying".

All in all its a vicious disease that people with PMSD dont even think about. The process does not end when you get your acceptance, its like landing in Nepal but you still have to climb Mount Everest (with no supplemental oxygen and a 100lb pack on your back). :scared:

OK... let me go before I freak all of you out. :laugh:

Yup, and after MSSD, they get a Dx of USD USMLE stress disorder, and finally RSD, residency stress disorder. Sadly, it never ends. :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

i think i'm going to look into the possibility of dropping out of med school and just running my own clinic out of a van. i'll drive around florida and give basic physicals for $5-$10. 🙁

On a side note, this does remind me of a real life story that took place in India/Pakistan.

A couple years ago, I was reading through national AMSA emails sent on health policy and news with different news articles.

In one of the articles was the story of a man by the name of Dr. Naresh Trehan.

Dr. Trehan is a famed Cardiothoracic surgeon, specializing in robotic heart surgery. he founded a 9 million dollar state of the art heart institute in New Dehli, his home city and the nation's capital, and gives 10% of his earnings and time to help poorer patients.

That said, the reason, you reminded me of him is this..........

In the article, as they were talking about his life, they stated that his parents were doctors in what is now modern day Pakistan. When the partition occurred, they lost everything-----their whole practice-------and ended up practicing in India out of their apartment.

For some reason, when you stated what you did, it reminded me of trehan's parents stories. I printed that article and have it saved to this day as being one of the truly inspirational stories I've read in my lifetime, primarily because not many doctors would give up a lucrative practice here to try to bring something forth to their own country in the manner in which he did.

Arsenic, maybe you can help me out with something, my friend wants to get a tongue piercing, do you know how safe is it? also, how do you think it looks, have you ever seen someone with problems with it?

I'm not A-man, but I totally think that tongue piercings are gross to no ends. Plus it can get infected quite easily and is super painful because the sensory receptors in your tongue are more sensitive then in say your ear.

Hey--I know what everyone is thinking.....lol

dang i knew this girl who got her tongue pierced and it got infected a lot--plus she would like play with it in her mouth and it was the most annoying thing ever. I'm practicing the fine art of building phylogenetic trees for evolution and i am in great pain

Ha. Like you'd even show up. 🙄 Your patients would wait around for a while, and then some other dude in a van with no idea what he's doing would come along, and he'd get roped into doing the physicals for you. When he did them, he'd say that he has never seen the inside of a textbook, but the patients shouldn't worry, b/c he still passed his boards. 🙄 :meanie: 😛

well, actually my exam isn't until friday but I'm gonna have to study my arse off until then--my prof makes us memorize insane amounts of material. He has taken a liking to freshwater mollusks and forces us to memorize random things about mollusk evolution. He said at one point he was in med school so that's what happens if you drop out of med school--you find interesting hobbies. I'm taking biopsych right now and it's awesome--my prof rocks. I do research in psych and i love it!!

yes, psychology is great, i just wish there was a Psychology of Women class i could take, maybe then i could figure out what goes on in the crazy minds of all girls 😉

Hey A-man,

Looks like school is cancelled at USF for tomorrow. It started raining a few hours ago and it was starting to pick up at the northern border of my county.
