I live it day to day and everything confuses me about the way the church works!
.......
It's a difficult thing to explain really. I don't mean to be so ambigous. The church is not an easy thing to understand nor explain.
I'm sorry for the treatment your husband's congregation is giving you. That is one con of organized religion - relying on PEOPLE, who are always fallible. People in a large group can be as stupid as sheep (maybe that's why Jesus always referred to us as sheep LOL! - J/K). My very very good friend has had some similar experiences in a Pentecostal church she grew up in. Politics, jealousy and greed rear their ugly heads everywhere (how Satan gets a stronghold on even the "best Christians").
Don't get me wrong though - a church that's a great fit is worth it's weight in gold. How wonderful to be able to come together with so many people for the right purpose! That is such a miracle, but more and more rare. Maybe I live in the wrong area or hear too many negative stories, but it sickens me today that there are so many people who claim to be such "servants of the Lord" but follow the beckoning of evil (good intentions and more).
It's hard, but please don't let their attitudes get you so down. Reflect on the Lord and your favorite passages to give you strength. Lean on your husband and other friends/family. You want to be around those that will build you up strong, so others won't be able to tear you down, even when they try hard.
And don't forget to pray for the congregation that they see what has become of their attitudes.
I will also pray for you and your husband for blessings to make it through (even though I know you will - hey, you're a serious pre-med, right! That's peanuts compared to spitefulness!)
Please try to get some well-deserved rest tonight and know that your "Random non-MCAT and only peripherally related to the MCAT thread" family is there for you!
See you tomorrow TypeA!!!!!!!
