Didn't feel this really goes in the RANT section, because it's really just sad more than anything. They confirmed a case of rabies in a puppy (unknown age at this time) in my county. The rabies around my area is bad-I hope people use this unfortunate situation to keep their animals vaccinated. First case in a domestic in over like 60 or 70 years ....
Oh man, that really sucks!! Has your county put out bait with an oral rabies vaccine in it? That's what my town did years ago for the raccoons.
Here's some info:

Colorado has actually been experiencing a massive spike in skunk rabies cases this year, so I'm not terribly surprised it's finally been confirmed in a dog. There was also confirmed case in a domestic (alpaca) in Douglas county a few months ago as well.

For reference, we had more confirmed skunk rabies cases in the first 3 months of 2018 than we had in the entirety of 2017. Larimer county has had their first skunk cases in something like 5 or 10 years, and we've had multiple confirmed this year.

Huh that's really interesting. It's really a statewide problem at this point is the problem and IDK that that's our politicians top priority currently.

Really? I hadn't heard of the alpaca! Well I know el Paso county had like 20 some confirmed cases in wildlife at like the beginning of March I think. So this doesn't surprise me either. As far as Pueblo county I knew we had confirmed cases but I hadn't heard of a ton like alot of times as confirmations in wildlife seems to peek through the summer months the news will advertise it quite a bit.

The CDPHE keeps track of it and updates their findings regularly. I follow it out of personal and professional interest, as I like having a good idea of what's going on public health wise in my area. Give me a second and I'll dig up their reports for you.

Rabid Animals By County, 2018

Map of Rabid Animals in CO, 2017 (as you can see, Weld and Yuma counties both had rabid dogs last year)
Map of Rabid Terrestrial Animals in CO, 2007-2017 (here it becomes more clear that rabies is more of an issue on the eastern plains)
Larimer County Map of Rabid Animals, 2018 (this one is actually from the Larimer County Department of Public Health's website)

Just read a little more about the Pueblo puppy, sounds like it was originally sold in nearby Fremont county and the Pueblo public health department is furiously trying to track down who sold it and where it came from so they can get PEP to all of the people who had contact with the dog. I don't envy that job. Hopefully they find everybody.

These are awesome! Thanks for digging them up. Yeah I just saw it on my lunch break so didn't have much details. I also don't envy that person's job.

I get a weekly rescued/recovered produce delivery, and got these... which are listed as "mystery hot pepper." Which is not super helpful and as someone who rarely cooks with peppers, I'm trying to figure out wtf to do with them, haha.

My googling makes me think they're italian long hot peppers or basque fryers? Any pepper aficionados around who might have opinions?

Likely Italian long hots. What do you normally like to do with hot peppers? These aren't super hot IMO, and can be used however you use other hot peppers.
I don't, really. My parents cooked so many stir fries and pepper dishes growing up that I kinda hold a bit of a grudge against them. I use jalapenos and poblanos (and canned adobos) sometimes but basically never buy any others.

Oh and thai chilies sometimes. But all for very specific recipes haha.

One of my weirdest pet peeves is when people refer to it as "veterinarian" medicine or "veterinarian" school. It's veterinary, there's a word for the adjective form. You don't call it "doctor" school or "doctor" medicine... It just bugs me so much.
I SAID BASICALLY THE SAME THING THE OTHER DAY.
And also said that veterinarian medicine sounds like a special branch of human med where you treat only veterinarians

Plant lovers, I need help! I'm thinking of adding some plants to my new apartment to make it come together even more. However, I've always been horrible at keeping plants alive. Any recommendations for some low maintenance, easy to care for plants?

I am absolutely horrible at plants. I have killed a succulent. I forget about them.
Fake plants are the only kind I can’t kill

Herbs? If you are using them in cooking a lot you may be more reminded/motivated to look after them

Spider plants are usually pretty hard to kill. But a cactus will probably be the most fool proof ahaha

I love plants, but I killed an air plant this year so....

Aloe vera is relatively easy to keep and as a bonus if it starts to grow too much the inside of the leaves can be used for a variety of things.

My family had a bamboo plant for several years and it just required the occasion watering.

Snake plants love to be ignored and will even tolerate low light.

Peace Lillies, pothos, vining philodendrons and monsteras are all quite forgiving in my house as well

I second the snake plant! Or cactus/succulent. I have a lot of plants in my house but for reference, I bought my snake plant over a month ago and have yet to water it. It just likes to be dry, and it will tolerate low light but also likes sunlight. Whatever you have is fine!

ZZ plants are also good 🙂 good luck!

I have managed to kill cacti. This is why I like dogs and cats, if you forget to feed or water them they come find you and remind you...

So true. I’ve sat down for dinner before, heard Apple squeak at me and I go “ah yes. You need food too. Sorry about that, yes here’s food”.

He’s such a neglected boy!

You need an AeroGarden. The fancy dancy ones will text you if they need water 😛

Lol no I was mad cause the credits took forever and I had to pee soooo bad
I've been trying to tell everyone that there is enough time to get a pee break in during the credits lol. I dodged out, speed peed, and then still had to watch a couple minutes of scrolling haha.
