Oh yes, this is a style I've been trying on, and is exactly what I've been looking for. Just worried about buying online.

Does it have a lace-up back? My friend got married on a budget and didn't get her dress altered at all because we could just lace it looser/tighter in certain places if needed. It took a tiny bit of fine adjusting once she put it on right before the ceremony, but was definitely not an issue. Definitely scary though not being 100% sure, so I totally understand where you are coming from.

Every time I see the buying a house thread I swear that it says buying a horse.

no its not a lace up.... zipper instead... but I have come to terms with passing on this one dress... ive decided to go to the local consignment stores and look for a dress since we are no longer going to the courthouse and have found an amazing venue to have our ceremony ( which is costing a little more than we initially wanted) but it is so amazingly beautiful that it will be worth it!

side note-- ive been thinking about starting a wedding thread lol all my rants and raves are wedding related recently.... hmmm maaaybeee....

Wish you all could see this storm heading in. Been watching it for 2 hours. Awesome lightening show!

I thought this after seeing how much rent next year is was going to be!!

On my way home from the cow farm... Have to view a flat in about an hour and I will probably eat dinner on my way to the flat. Don't really have time to go home and shower/change. I smell like a mix of ash tray ( there was a controlled burn on the farm), cow manure and citrus body spray.... I hope the smell doesn't deter then from letting me rent the flat..

Pretty cool! Although "The research is aimed at large-scale production of high-quality animals for farming or conservation purposes, they say" doesn't really make sense to me. How are conservation efforts going to be helped by multiple copies of the same genetic material? I know limited gene pools are already a big concern for wildlife/conservation efforts.

Another crappy story... this one from Ireland..

can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/midantrimanimalsanctuary

Racing greyhound had his ears cut off/mutilated before being abandoned so the required tatoo on the ears was obliterated and the dog couldn't be traced back to its scumbag owners.

Hey Devyn, looking for a "new" dog.

Omfg! SOV! Don't make me so sad! And pissed! Some people are ****ing disgusting. I'm just glad he's getting cared for now

There's these douches that don't value this dog's life...

And then there's me... My townhouse has stairs and my little dachshund that had back surgery can't do stairs, so I'm building a ramp with carpeting that will fit on the stairs next to the wall so that she can go up and down...

My house should be an IG museum. Dog beds in every room, throws on every dog bed. IG pictures etc all over the house. Only the cat stuff (and maybe another animal here and there) screws up the theme!

Yeah, I'm not sure what they're getting at with that. The only thing I can think of is cloning individuals with rare genotypes and introducing them into different breeding populations - like if the population is fragmented, cloning enough individuals to have some of every rare genotype in each population. Or, cloning individuals in zoos/captivity that have rare genotypes but are too old to breed or sterile for some other reason, or can't be transported. I suppose you could even (depending on how well this technique works) clone recently killed animals that have been siezed from poachers or had to be killed for human safety reasons, to preserve their genotypes.

Oh, just thought of this - it could be used to help preserve heritage breeds of livestock (I recently fell in love with the wool from Jacobs sheep - I'm a textile craftsperson - it's some of the nicest to spin I've ever gotten to try.)

For a little bit.... (No quoting this, thanks).

This calf decided I was her dinner tonight. She followed me around suckling my waterproofs and head butting me.

*poof*

I think I'm going to try to put together an insider's guide to getting into vet school for the animal science kids at my undergrad. They are SO poorly prepared for applications and vet school and there are no good resources on campus. The "pre-vet" program doesn't even give these kids the right classes to apply to most schools and the advisor is the most useless individual I've ever met (seriously). I feel like someone needs to tell these kids that their 2.5GPA is not going to get them into school 99.9% of the time.

Try Finn, Washbucket!!! So silky and crimpy and easy to spin.

Jacob sheep are lovely and I am totally fascinated by the breed's history and trying to figure out the origins of the breed. I don't believe that they originated in the Middle East. I think they came from Scandinavia (horns seem to indicate this- and there are a few Nordic short-tailed breeds that are or can be polycerates) and then I believe they may have taken some time in Spain. Probably they were still dual-coated at this time; you can see the similarities in horn structure in the Navajo Churro sheep today. Then I know they were in England the past couple of centuries, where they likely had their fleece modified into something closer to down-type.

Of course, this is based purely on morphology and nothing with genetics...

This is what happens when I'm doing FEC on sheep samples...I think about stuff like that. 😉

I don't suppose you have a pre-vet club or something similar that could help with this? The pre-vet club at my undergrad has revamped itself over the past few years and now does a lot of cool application prep type stuff. They also bring in admissions reps from as many schools as they can, so that has really helped everyone get a better of idea of what to expect.

I really wish my school had a prevet club/program that could have helped me last year! That sounds awesome! Thank God for SDN for helping me get through it!

Anybody remember who I had the "discussion" about the "class-ness" or lack thereof of Philly fans.

I remember part of the discussion was my saying the Giants don't have as many thug fans...

I found a post listing the number of arrests each team's players have had over the last x number of years.

Anyway, the Giants had the 4th least... and I thought I should gloat.
Then I noticed the Eagles had the 3rd least. 🙄 whod'vethunkit?
