...WHAT.
Spiders never bothered me. I actually find them kind of neat. One day I was driving with a couple of friends and I was riding shot gun. I looked up and noticed this huge spider only about an inch from my friend's head on the ceiling. She was the one driving. I knew if I said anything she'd freak out and probably drive off the highway. I thought fast, gritted my teeth and smacked the spider with my bare hand. It was big enough that she felt the guts land on her head. We ended up having to pull over to clean the mess but I like to think I saved everyone from a severe car accident that day 🙂
Clearly she's telling you that your house is haunted 😛no. that doesn't bother her. it is specifically the power blinking. I don't understand my cat's quirks
It was big enough to have visible guts? 😱
I am never leaving the prairies. Never ever ever....
I've heard of people squishing spiders just to have tons of little baby spiders come crawling out...that would be a nightmare.Guts/spider goo, yes! I will never again squash a spider with my bare hand. It was disgusting.

This happened when I was growing up. There was a big spider in our bathroom and my dad went to squish it or spray it, can't remember which, but suddenly there were tons of little spiders just running around everywhere.... It was quite disturbing.
A friend in high school had a bunch of spiders essentially hatch on when we were sitting outside at lunch. She just looked down saw things moving and then started taking off her shirt. Our principal was outside and he was super confused...luckily she had a tank top on, so all was good.
That would suck.
The worst bug attack I have suffered was a bunch of ants one Easter morning. They were somehow coming up into the house from the middle of the living room through the carpet... it was bizarre. I didn't notice them and just happened to stand right over where they were coming in at. My feet had so many ant bites.
I've done that with fire ants in Florida. It sucks.

aren't they evil little biters actually? Most definitely sucks. Fire ants are evil little suckers.
Brought to you by the very talented folks here at AVC! I love this!
so this is where I go to school...😀
So, my hand-me-down vacuum cleaner finally kicked the bucket. Any suggestions for vacuum cleaners that are good with pet hair?

I'm not sure where to post this.. but I have decided to put off vet school for another year or two. It's just not feasible for me to apply this year. My hours and grades aren't up to par and even if I were to get really good grades this semester and summer semesters, I would still need more vet hours. It seems like a waste of money to apply this year when I don't stand a chance. I mainly just feel like a failure because there are other athletes at my university that seem to be successful as pre-med and I am having such a difficult time taking the same 4-5 science classes and not being able to keep up with the work. My advisor makes a point that statistically we miss more class time than any other sport here and when we are gone for competition, it's an all day thing. I still just feel so down and I'm constantly getting punished by my coach for spending my free time during the weeks (aka after i finish class and practice) or saturdays at the shelter, vet clinic or turtle rehab center instead of practicing although I ALREADY practiced what I needed to.Idk I'm just feeling so down about school, golf and the inability to find a job that will work with my hectic schedule. I'm just so frustrated I feel like constantly crying. Just needed to get this out as I tend keep everything inside and have it explode eventually. 😢
Thank you DVMD, I definitely understand where you're coming from. I have thought about it a lot. I truly enjoy playing and being a college athlete is once in a lifetime. My thoughts are that I have my entire life to be a vet, so I should enjoy my sport now. It's just a big realization for me that I won't be applying/starting as early as I thought and realizing that I can't do both at the same time has been a major breakthrough as I am an extremely stubborn person. I have given up my biology major and have traded in for a general studies major (mainly for NCAA eligibility requirements). Instead of cramming all my prereqs within this next year and more than likely getting average grades, I will be spacing them out and making sure to get As. I can't afford anything less at this point. I figure the extra year or more will help me to become a competitive applicant. I truly appreciate your responds 🙂Don't take this the wrong way, but if you are overwhelmed with things, perhaps it is time to drop an activity or decrease your participation in it? As much as that sucks, but it might be better for you, your mental health and your long-term goals. And you aren't a failure if you can't keep up like other athletes, everybody is different. I have seen you on these forums you are always gone/away/out of town or otherwise busy. And if your coach is punishing you for something he shouldn't be that wears on you even more. Anyway, just a suggestion that maybe it is time to evaluate what all you are doing and how you can make things better for you.

@swingnsave, I have mad respect for student athletes - I can't imagine having to balance practice, competitions and tough school work! I'm sorry to hear you're struggling 🙁 Sounds like you need some more supportive people in your life to balance out the stress and pressure. I hope your strategy helps you out, but remember that you can still get in with a less than perfect application. I know when I first joined SDN and saw everyone's amazing stats (and saw them calling their 3.4 GPA "awful" when I had less than a 3.0!) I was disheartened. But there is always hope for those who work hard. Hope you start to feel better soon![]()
Thank you for your responds BD. I think the most difficult thing for me to overcome is that at my university, athletics comes before academics (according to my coach at least). I've told her numerous times that I am completely and whole heartedly dedicated to the team, but my academics do come first because of the plans I have for myself in the future but she takes it personal. It's hard to have that conversation with someone who holds the scholarship in their hands, regardless of how well or poor I play. Our athletic department of course stresses the importance of us being STUDENT-athletes, but all in all, our director and our coach will do anything it takes to win. I've had a huge moral battle inside my head throughout these 3 years I've played but I assumed it's the same in every other collegiate athletics program. Idk, I'm just taking it one day at a time and I suppose I'll end up wherever I'm meant to be.I was an athlete in undergrad and I can totally sympathize. Unfortunately I don't have much advice to offer other than to be super diligent about how you manage your time and to make sure your coach understands that school is your top priority (not that it helps much . . . mine insisted that school be a top priority but we were still never allowed to miss anything to study!).
On the plus side, being a student athlete looks great on your application, especially if you did it all through undergrad and still achieved decent grades. I talked about some of my experiences in my interview and my interviewers were super impressed.
Thanks I PMed you 🙂Hello @swingnsave - I was also a university athlete and struggled with this very issue. I wanted to quit my sport by my 3rd year to move on with my life and my future career as a vet. I ended up not being able to let go (was given an awesome opportunity at an American uni as a Canadian and the sport was my life) and played through my senior year and never gained any vet experience during undergrad. I was missing several prereq's because I couldn't handle them plus my sport, and I felt inadequate the whole time compared to my US Marines-training and pre-med fellow teammates. Here I am 7, fun and fulfilling years later, ready to start a vet program in the fall, 3 acceptances and 1 deferral later. I was able to fill those 7 years with pre-reqs, awesome life experiences, and further education that have shaped me to be the vet I hope to be, so I don't regret anything. It is all personal though. If you would like some more personal advice, please don't hesitate to PM me. I truly have been there and am still not 100% about some of my choices.
