I was just thinking about that, actually. Damn spoiler effect. There are several states where Clinton would've won if the third-party votes weren't split. Urgh. This was not the election for people to make a political statement. If the vote hadn't been split, this wouldn't be happening.
Don't blame the people, blame the parties for trotting such horrid creatures out as their candidates.
Wait, can this happen just so the crazy universe we're living in could be complete?
If McMullin wins Utah (very unlikely) and the house of reps goes for him over Trump (even unlikelier), then yeah, he could become president.
That's not even the craziest scenario! If Trump and Clinton tied in the electoral college and democrats won the senate, we'd probably have a President Trump and Vice President Tim Kaine.

And the media for portraying them as equally horrid. But also the people, since they're the ones who actually voted.

Can people like, count faster so that I can go to sleep? Don't we have computers to do this ****?
This. I get why the idea of "splitting the vote" seems so important to people, but I did not feel relatively comfortable for standing with either POTUS candidate. That is why I voted third party, voted for a candidate that I believed in and morally felt I could support. And I refuse to feel guilty for doing so because of a political system's failures.Don't blame the people, blame the parties for trotting such horrid creatures out as their candidates.

I don't blame people for voting third party. Honestly truly don't. I mean, some of those votes would have gone for Trump and some would have gone for Clinton if there were no other options, so I don't know if it makes as much of a difference as people think. Our problem really isn't that we have too many options.
Not all third party votes are "Political statements."

When CNN's like "DUN DUN DUN PROJECTION!!!" but it's just to announce that Clinton gets Washington or Trump gets Georgia. Like, omg, so much drama, such surprise.

Oh, no, I'm really not blaming you guys. I'm blaming the system. It's absolutely ludicrous that we as voters can't even feel comfortable voting for who we actually want without worrying about spoiler effect.This. Because they are. And it's their vote, it's their choice.
And yet I am still watching CNN.When CNN's like "DUN DUN DUN PROJECTION!!!" but it's just to announce that Clinton gets Washington or Trump gets Georgia. Like, omg, so much drama, such surprise.
Mostly because CBS used the phrase "get out from under Donald" more than once and I couldn't handle it
Because they are. And it's their vote, it's their choice.
Very, very strongly disagree with your first sentence (though obviously that's a personal opinion). Totally agree with the second.
Not all third party votes are "Political statements."
I agree. But I know a lot of people who are voting third party as a political statement.
Independent, but I love this gif

Cool. I just hope people are content with the decision, whatever it ends up being (Trump or Hillary), if they voted 3rd party. Because you decided to vote for someone who didn't have a chance.

It's interesting, I actually expected to see a higher percentage in the 3rd party votes because of how much chatter there was but I guess my facebook news feed is a biased sample 😉 Looks like it'll be the usual low single digits.
(though obviously that's a personal decision)
And to you as well. Just going with what I saw throughout this whole debacle.
And I didn't vote for either of these frauds.
Cool. I just hope people are content with the decision, whatever it ends up being (Trump or Hillary), if they voted 3rd party. Because you decided to vote for someone who didn't have a chance.
Because as this election showed, it's so wonderful to have two choices for president. And if the 3rd party gets enough votes they can get federal funding.
I will gladly bear whatever consequences come from my vote, because whether I voted 3rd party or not, I think the end result would have been the same.Cool. Eh. As a practical person, I know that the reverberations from the supreme court justices appointed during this election will impact our rights and laws for decades. And I live in a swing state, so it's a sore spot for me.Because as this election showed, it's so wonderful to have two choices for president. And if the 3rd party gets enough votes they can get federal funding.
Yeah, I was expecting a lot more third party votes. Facebook is so unreliable. 🙄It's interesting, I actually expected to see a higher percentage in the 3rd party votes because of how much chatter there was but I guess my facebook news feed is a biased sample 😉 Looks like it'll be the usual low single digits.
According to my Facebook feed, Hilary should have been a landslide victory.

Same.
According to my workplace and family, Trump should have closed it by now. According to my FB, Hillary should be winning, with a solid serving of Johnson.
It's so, so close. Gonna be caffeinating a lot tomorrow...

In regards to splitting the vote:
I don't think 3rd parties have enough support down there to justify blaming them for the results. Yes votes matter, but there are way more factors that played a much larger role. Honestly not splitting the vote is one of the advantages of the two-party system.
It is very different up here, because the "third parties" (in reality just more major parties) have enough support to be legitimately competitive. A major concern with the last election was that you either voted conservative or for 1 of the Liberal-Green-NDP; overall the number of people voted not-Conservative was high, but individually for each party Conservatives could have had the most. Clearly that ended up not being a concern because of Liberal landslide, but I know many Green/NDP voters who strategically voted Liberal because they didn't want Conservative again

Idk if I should keep waiting for PA or if I should just go to sleep 😴
I'd say it depends on what time you have class in the morningIdk if I should keep waiting for PA or if I should just go to sleep 😴
I mean it will be over shortly I expect...whether or not things change by the morning, who knows
My first farm call isnt until 10a. hence why I am still drinking,I'd say it depends on what time you have class in the morning

I don't. We're on our small group PBL (sort of) week, my group doesn't meet until 1. Technically I don't have to be at school until noon, but parking is an issue and I do have to do some research on my assigned topic for the case before the meeting.I'd say it depends on what time you have class in the morning

Well, I would say you can both stay up for a while longer then. It's only 12:30 (if I guessed what time zone you guys are in correctly)
Cowgirla: beer, wine, or hard liquor?

And I started with beer. But then I ran out and switched to tequila.

And that would mean I drank 6 beers. And I'm not counting tequilas...12:30 is about 90 minutes past my bed time.

I had quite a bit of Trump, but every place I've lived has been a very gun happy, intolerant little part of the world.Yeah, I was expecting a lot more third party votes. Facebook is so unreliable. 🙄

Ha, same. The PA gap widened so I think I'm going to bed.12:30 is about 90 minutes past my bed time.
If this thought helps anyone. America is becoming progressively more educated with each generation, but especially ours, we are becoming more racially diverse and not just white. In a few years something like this may not even be possible anymore. I'm trying to focus on this as being one last push from *that* part of America before it no longer becomes possible, we have to live with four years of it, but in the time scale of things, it's so small.
I just broke my personal rule of not posting political things on my Facebook.... the meme was just too good.
Go to bed Hmoo!
I second this. Go to bed!
Looks like we officially have the next POTUS. President Trump actually happened.
