I appreciate all the baby fluffs... doesn't much matter what species 🙂

lawper...you did not do the math to show cuteness level...

I've been shooting before with a buddy's rifle I'd never fired before. Put my eye too close to the scope, and got blasted in the eye when recoil drove it back into my face.

@JaynaAli and @WhtsThFrequency , is there a similar occurrence in pathology? I've come too close to falling asleep while looking through a microscope, and I'm not trying to be walking around with 2 black eyes.

When I'm the only one at my microscope it's pretty stationary...the risk comes when someone walking by runs into your table or you're sharing a double-headed microscope with someone else and they bump the microscope. The nicer models I use more regularly at work are pretty darn hefty though (and cost as much as a car*) so don't really move.

*No seriously, the main microscope that I use on a daily basis cost around $35,000 once you factor in the objectives, camera, and the scope itself. Our new 14-headed teaching microscope was over $90,000.

Oh I meant more like falling into the microscope

Oh, haha. Now I drive and am responsible for teaching people. I'm the jerk that asks questions around the room to make sure everyone is paying attention. Back in the day as a student I was interested enough in it all that falling asleep wasn't an issue.

So, SDN doesn't want people making new threads when there are old threads they could post to. But now they also have a warning about posting to old threads and discouraging it.

So, SDN which is it? Because I've always encouraged people to search and post in old threads.
a lot of this stuff doesn't necessarily happen because of our little corner. The issue comes from med side with people bumping old contentious threads to start smack again. Also a way to hopefully show new people that it is an old thread so reporting something they find offensive is likely a waste of time. haha

Also, a lot of people doing a search try to talk to someone who hasn't posted in years without realizing the thread is old. Numerous reasons really to alert folks that the thread is an oldie.

Makes sense just hoping it doesn't discourage people to post in an in topic older thread.

blame ww and karabeans and dubz
We can solve this conundrum by killing her in the WW game. It's the only way to end this madness!

I found your ww wolf if you guys are looking for it. ^^^^

Only wolves kill people, villagers just lynch them. Totally different things.
In a bizarre turn of events, we're not looking for wolves. Everything is backwards. Wolves are villagers and villagers are wolves. Day is night and night is day. Up is down and down is left.

Look, the world would be a better place if we all just recognized that wolves are not the bad guys here. I mean, lynching? How is that better than a good old killing in the night? It is what wolves were meant to do, it is the natural order of things.

Doesn't matter "kill" is still ingrained into the "wolf" mind. Doesn't matter what you call the "wolf"... could be "wolf" "monster" "zombie" "villager" "wolf who seers wolf but isn't a wolf".... doesn't make a difference, using the term "kill" = "wolf".

Anyone having any recommendations for things to do, places to eat/drink at in San Fran and LA? My bf and I are going in May and looking for ideas. He's been to LA a few times and has relatives there but he's never been to San Fran. His brother and two of his friends are coming too. We're up for some of the typical touristy things for at least San Fran but also want some not too touristy things if you've got them.

My favorite experience was wandering around Sutro Baths. My husband is big into art, so he wanted to go to the Legion of Honor museum. There's a trail along the coast between the museum and Sutro Baths, and it's just so gorgeous and calming. Not what I would expect to find in a city at all.
I also loved having shabu-shabu in Japantown. I don't remember which restaurant (may have been Mums?), but there are several in the area, and it's a fun way to have dinner.

I'm in Southern California (but not in LA).

SoCal has Universal Studios, Los Angeles Zoo, Griffith Observatory, museums, art galleries (e.g., Getty), spas, TV and movie entertainment venues, Magic Mountain, Disneyland/California Adventure, Knott's Berry Farm, and lots of other fun places (e.g., beaches, mountains, deserts and lakes).

The not-so-touristy things probably include the beaches, mountains, desert and lakes and other off-the-path quirky things. Lake Arrowhead is scenic, with a quaint little village town, plus access to hiking trails in May. Venice Beach is zany and crazy-wild. Huntington Beach is much quieter and popular with surfers. Are you staying strictly in the City of Los Angeles?

Feel free to PM me.

If y’all want something cute, fun, and touristy hit up Pier 39 - good snacks, cookies, coffee, fun shops, sea lions and boat tours, ALCATRAZ, etc. Also easy transport to the rest of the city.

Also fun is the Exploratorium, marin headlands/GG bridge, hiking in muir woods over the gg bridge.

Japantown has real cute shops and good eats too, and it’s lil’ so it’s easy to fit into a day.

Now I miss home. 😳
