I know this question has been asked a million times but there really isn't that much information on this. What rank approximately for those who matched to paid, hospital based pediatric residency programs did you guys have? Approx. 30%~? 50%?

If you do not want to comment what your rank % was please dm me. I won't pry too much, I just really need some guidance.

There really isn’t a clear “30% vs 50%” number for pediatrics. NRMP doesn’t publish pediatric specific data showing what rank position people match at. What we do know is that pediatrics has a solid overall match rate around 88 90% for US MD seniors, high 70s 80s for DOs, and lower but still meaningful for IMGs. Many applicants who match tend to land within their top few ranked programs, but that varies a lot based on interviews, application strength, and how broadly someone applies. Any specific percentage you see quoted online is usually anecdotal, not official data.

Mine was top 40%. My program chair cared a lot more about fit to culture and teachability. The highest academic ranked candidate did not necessarily always appeal to them.

That being said, other hospital based programs I have known get those in the top 20/30% or those that have a lot of experience that can initially keep pace with the hospital program.
