But new dude isn't food aggressive, just very worried about getting enough to eat (poor guy). Maybe you could feed them separately... and also give them high value treats and chews separately as well.... to avoid fights over it and since you know your girl will try to steal...

And were they locked in the kennel together? Is it a big kennel or just a crate? Dogs should really not be kenneled together.....

And yeah as NStarz said I really would never scruff a dog ever... or get in their face like that.... alpha rolling.... or any of those tactics is not appropriate and asking to get bit..... there are much more appropriate ways to teach a dog what is considered an appropriate reaction then force & fear tactics....
 
I really appreciate your guy's advice and opinions but all of my submissive position/alpha whatnot techniques have come from a reputable trainer that I worked with in regards to my first dog due to her dog aggressive tendencies. And they worked really really well for me. I will consider what you guys said though. I'm serious. 🙂
 
Though I was admittedly probably to reactive. My girl is my baby so I'm sure I got WAY too protective, such as getting close to his face, and that's not productive for anyone.

Vet schools have only started teaching behavior in the last few years. If they graduated from school more than 6 years ago or so, they are probably following outdated techniques. It's unfortunate, really 🙁 Let me know what you think after you've read those 🙂

👍 true story sadly.... it astounds me the number of vets and techs I have worked with in clinics who know nothing about animal behaviour.. and then animals often get treated like they are aggressive or handled incorrectly because of it.....

lost a frequent flier patient today 🙁 she passed en route to the emergency hospital after we turfed her. this sucks.
 
I decided to drive home for my lunch break today, despite the fact that I knew I would spend half of it in the car, because I needed that whole hour to cry. 🙁

There are a few individuals at my place of work who are really, really unpleasant. I'm talking in-your-face, yelling, and demeaning in front of co-workers *and* clients. And because I don't work there very often, on the days that I *do* work I get a lot of crap for being slow/inefficient, so the aforementioned people come down on me like a ton of bricks. It's a crazy busy 8 doctor emergency clinic, so it's inherently a **** show on most days.

Luckily I only have a total of 10 more shifts over the course of the next two weeks, but I'd much rather quit and tell all those meanies to stuff it tomorrow.

I'm sorry. 🙁 Is it worth it to stay? Just say you have school stuff to take care and need to leave sooner?
 
We euthanized the sweetest little kitten today because he was like super sick. He was very anemic, couldn't open his mouth to eat, and was running into walls today. He also purred every time you touched him and loved cuddling with me. It broke my heart that I couldn't take him home and try to give him around the clock care, but I have 3 big dogs and 3 cats here already. It doesn't help that my fiance lied to me. He has started talking to this girl almost constantly for the last few days which he told me about but still made me uncomfortable because he's been too flirtatious in the past (before we had the boundaries talk). I told him he could still talk to her as long as they didn't talk about sex, they weren't alone together, and if he started having feelings for her that he would stop talking to her. He decided it was better just to stop talking to her. Fine, whatever. He then put a lock on his phone last night and texted her this morning which I found out on the bill. I was livid! I fumed all fricken day and when I finally confronted him about it he said he texted her once to complain about the fact that they can't talk anymore but said to her they still can't talk anymore. I told him AGAIN if he wanted to talk to her to just follow the rules and he said he doesn't want to talk to her because it'll cause more issues. So, you texted her to complain and then say you can't text her? Behind my back by the way. I'm still pissed off and so part of the men suck bandwagon right now. UGH!

Man I hate those incidents. North Texas has been having some issues with distemper lately. A family came in to the clinic today that had recently adopted a dog from a shelter; guess what, it already had it. The poor thing was an absolute mess, I felt so bad for him and for the family too. They were so upset. Euthanizing a cute little 4 month old puppy is hella depressing.

I've thought about it, but I'm pretty close with a couple of the vets there and they know what's up and would be a little disappointed if I fudged my way out of there early. Needless to say, there's a big tech turnover at this clinic and is be doing them a major disservice if I up and left. We just lost 2 techs this month, in fact. Plus, the 600 or so bucks I'll be making is pretty crucial for my upcoming move. Anyway, I couldn't do that to them...Though I wish I could tell the mean ones that I refuse to help them anymore 😛

Thanks, Abney. I mostly just need a space to vent. This helps. My Facebook isn't an appropriate forum for it because of who I'm friends with (instead I make open-ended posts about how I'm going to go home and get really drunk haha).

:laugh: Getting drunk is an appropriate response. I know how you feel. I really really want to quit my job now instead of two weeks from now. So bad. But I just can't do that to them.
 
Pretty sure I bombed the rotation final this morning.:-/ I worked a 3pm to 1am shift, and then had to go back in at 8am for rounds and the exam before working again at 3pm.. Needless to say, my brain was fried. There was about six pages of short answer/essay style questions. I don't think I had more than 5 or 6 lines for each answer, and apparently some of my classmates were on the front and back of the page ;-/ The exam itself was about 13 pages long. And my studying was pretty much non existent because I've been working that stupid overnight shift all week and had rounds every morning this week and I'm so exhausted its not even funny.

And apparently I'm in one of those phases where I can't hit a vein to save my life. I'm usually pretty decent at drawing blood and placing catheters in and I majorly failed at all attempts today. Ugh.

The exam is only 20% of our grade, but I feel like my technical skills have been seriously sucky the past few days and that's a big chunk of our grade. Double ugh.
 
I have never been so sleep deprived and exhausted in my life! 9 hrs of sleep in 4 days. Worked 3 shifts in a row(we milk twice a day). Drove 6 hrs round trip to see a baseball game i had won tickets for. Drove home and immediately work ed 2 shifts back to back. I am so sixk of milking cows! 2 more hours aand my head can hit the pillow for a glorious 12 hours!

That sucks I've heard from a friend of distemper cases in South Texas as well.

Also, you're the first person from tx to use the word "hella" 😀 after 2 years in the south and I have finally found someone that understands my nor cal vocabulary 😉 props! Though admittedly I have caught some of my rgv friends using that word hangin around me too much apparently! Haha and they thought I was weird for using it in the first place 😛

We like to phrase it "the blood gods are not fond of us at that moment." once i missed a vein on a greyhound... i must have really pissed them off for something.

in other news, i was having a most marvelous dream and my stinkin' alarm woke me up for work. hate it when that happens. 🙁🙁🙁

Totes know what you mean Abs. Currently mourning the death of my relationship because I'm pretty sure it's over. I hope it's not, but I guess it's not up to me. Scares the **** out of me because this is my third relationship that has failed after YEARS. At this point I don't even know if I would ever be comfortable getting married because it seems like I'm destined for divorce...

I'm so sorry Minners. I'll tell you what everyone keeps telling me, even though it's hard to believe at first (I know I have a really really hard time). It's his loss. I mean that.

But I do understand what you mean. I AM divorced, and can't seem to make anything else last either, so I feel like a complete loser/future lonely animal hoarder.

You can not only have a post that is all capitals... so 😀 as a post by itself does not work and will turn into :d, because it sees 😀 as one capital D in the post. In order to reply with just 😀, I will put a lowercase letter in white a few lines down. 🙂

I took my mom's dog for a walk and a little terrier mix charged at us growling and teeth bared. I managed to pick Cleo up just before he got at her thankfully but she was so panicked. The dog's stupid owners were just trying to call him over from afar and not really doing anything to help us out as he kept jumping at her. Leash your freaking dog.
 
I understand offering the best care. However, you can't make people pay for things they can't or aren't willing to pay for. I'm starting to think that we push a lot of people away from the university's vet care if they can't afford to do every single test and treatment in the whole world. I'm also not sure why it doesn't bother anyone else that clients have to wait an ungodly amount of time before they get any information on their pet.
 
I have been having the worst luck with pets lately. One guinea pig is PU/PD and after bloodwork, x-rays, tooth trimming, and an ultrasound, there's still no diagnosis. My other pig had a weird mutant extra incisor tooth and while most of it was removed, she may need a surgical extraction if it grows back. Plus, one of the family hamsters had pneumonia and had to be put to sleep and the other hamster has a walled-off abscess that needs to be surgically debrided and have an antibiotic bead implanted. I guess the vet student curse has struck a bit early!

It always amazes me how much crap I get from some non-vegetarians when they find out that I do not eat meat. I don't put it on blast and make my entire life revolve around it. I don't care if others eat meat. I don't ever insist we go eat somewhere different because I can always find something on the menu to eat. I never let my decision to be a vegetarian intentionally inconvenience anyone.

And then there are individuals who insist on calling me out and saying that my logic is foolish and that "oh we CAN'T POSSIBLY go to this restaurant because MommaFox doesn't eat wings!" No, I dont. But I do eat salads and OMG SURPRISE, they serve them there. 🙄 These people literally go out of their way to make me feel like my life decisions are an inconvenience to them, but are surprised when I decline to hang out with them. Probably because you're a pretentious douchecanoe towards me.

"What, is it because you like animals or something?" ....Yes, that is a part of it.
"Well, I like animals too" ...Alright, awesome. Good for you.
"What about the immigrants that pick your vegetables? Do you like them?" ....😕


What kind of logic is that? You had to reach out that far and go out of your way to insult me. Leave me alone. 😡


Annoying non-vegetarians are just as terrible as annoying vegetarians.
