It started over treats. My girly eats fast and is a thief. She's mostly been around dogs that are like "Oh, yeah I guess it's ok that you stole my chew" so she's never been put in her place. But new dude isn't food aggressive, just very worried about getting enough to eat (poor guy). Well, yesterday they were in the kennel together and I'm pretty sure she tried to steal his chew (they'd had them in there before) but I'll I'm sure of is the growling and his teeth around her neck. Then yesterday when we were home he was laying on the couch and she jumped up and kind of landed on him a little bit. He snarled and bit her (like I said no broken skin though) and knocked her off the couch. Well because she got knocked off she couldn't retaliate but I did. I pounced immediately since I was on the other end of the couch and had him by the scruff in submissive position and was in his face telling him that wasn't ok in a growly voice.
Lol *I* am the alpha in that house 😛
Maybe you could feed them separately... and also give them high value treats and chews separately as well.... to avoid fights over it and since you know your girl will try to steal...
And were they locked in the kennel together? Is it a big kennel or just a crate? Dogs should really not be kenneled together.....
And yeah as NStarz said I really would never scruff a dog ever... or get in their face like that.... alpha rolling.... or any of those tactics is not appropriate and asking to get bit..... there are much more appropriate ways to teach a dog what is considered an appropriate reaction then force & fear tactics....
