avoid long distance relationships at all possible costs, or at least make them with in driving distance in a couple hours. I am absolutely miserable being across the country from the love of my life and he just doesn't seem to get the fact that passing up a spot off of a wait list just wasn't something i could do. i guess i should have just taken my name off the list when i was going to go move west for the year, but it didnt feel like they would call anyways 🙁 this is going to be the hardest 4 years of my life for more reasons then school at this rate.

I'm so sorry. I know EXACTLY how you feel. But, if it's true love, you'll make it work and realize that the wait will be worth it in the end. It's so hard in the beginning, but you will get used to it, however hard that may seem right now. You'll always have something to look forward to- like, 'Oh, I get to see my SO in xx days!' Best of luck, and if you ever need to talk, you can PM me. :xf:

I agree. Although it's getting a bit harder not to see my SO, it does help tp think and talk about when we will see each other again.

Ignore that post up there with the hearts. I don't feel at all like that right now. He made me feel so terrible yesterday when he told me I suck at riding and I should just quit. It's a waste of money and lessons aren't gonna help me anymore anyways. He wants a responsible girlfriend, not one that just throws away all her money. It's the think I love to do most and that just really hurt. :'(

(It'd not that he doesn't like horses. He works with them. He just thinks I suck.)

Anyone who tells you you should "just quit" the thing you love the most is not worth the trouble. Is he also an undergrad? if he is he should know that undergrads who are already working on vet school and have made the choice to spend their discretionary money on what they love (riding) are among the most responsible ones out there! He'd be hard pressed to do better than you.

If this was a heat-of-the moment comment that only happened once, then it's worth telling him how you felt when he said it and working through it. If he has put you down like this before and seems likely to do it again, I suggest you get out now.
 
Inthebox is totally right. If he does this kind of thing often, say goodbye. You need supportive people around you, not ones who make you feel bad about yourself.
 
He's not in UG, he's older already....

He's usually not like that. He came to watch me ride both at home and at shows and would always help me with my horses. He also works at horse shows and builds jumps, tack boxes etc and sometimes works as a groom. His job is all about horses and he likes it.

He's usually supportive of both school and my riding. He was excited for me when I finally found a new barn here and so on. We fight sometimes, but it's never been anything like this. He knows how important it is to me, so I don't know what happened last night.

He started thinking about riding to only be good if you can make money out of it, so he mostly just likes Jumpers because of the prize money. I don't have the money for a good jumper, so I should quit because I obviously won't win then.

He is very proud of what I'm doing and always talks to his friends about it and stuff. He thinks it's awesome that I'm doing something that's not a "normal" job. Haha.

We talked about it a few minutes ago and he apologized and said he didn't want it to sound like that. He just didn't want me to have another trainer like one of my previous ones who would barely teach me anything new because she wanted to keep me around longer. He didn't want me to waste my money on that. He wants to come watch me at my new barn when he comes up to Athens again.

I guess he also thinks about spending so much money for something that's not that practical to him as weird. He's from Mexico and they don't have that extra money, so sometimes he just has a hard way to understand things like this..

I don't want to make excuses for him. It still hurts. But at least we talked about it now and he apologized.
 
I really need to study anatomy and physiology tonight, but I've got a headcold and I'm so congested that I can't focus. I'm hoping to make up for it over the weekend. 🙁

i don't think we had gone a week before we started sharing germs. probably because 100% of us flew here on airplanes (which i ALWAYS seem to get sick from). not looking forward to family weekend when hundreds of people come visit carrying germs from home and planes!

I think it really helped. He also promised to buy me two horses. Which wouldn't happen for years, but it's the thought that counts, right? Jk. Hahaha. But I do think that talking about it helped.

He also facebooked me, saying "I'm sorry, boo. Te amo." He doesn't speak English fluently and I have no idea where he learned that word, but he just said it again on the phone and it sounds so damn adorable in his accent.

Woke up at 530 this morning to feed the dairy heifers. One of them licked my butt. Don't know how to take that. MSU is playing my Dad's alumni today (Central Michigan), so I will be a bit torn at the game today. I'm super tired, but yay for football!

Haha I love cows! They are so funny. Take it as a compliment. Kind of like when your cat leaves something absolutely disgusting for you on the door step.
 
I caught a gecko!!!!

and then when i took him upstairs to show my friend, another classmate startled him and he jumped out of my hand....and ran right into her room!!! no clue where he's hiding in there :-/ i feel awful, i don't want him to die or be hungry! poor gecko 🙁
 
My good friend just got diagnosed with liver cancer. Shes only 28. 🙁
 
1. wow we went 5 days without a rant post?
2. bbeventer, that sucks, my condolences.
3. I am 95% sure I qualify as a zombie right now. I am approaching the 24 hour awake mark on 5 hours of crappy sleep. And I still have four hours during which I must be conscious. I can't do much more than remain awake and stare at my screen while waiting for the work day to end (only one more hour to go)
4. I have discovered that, from around 2am to 7am PST the world is dead. That means, aside from a wiki-walk there is not much to do on the internet. Google news has no new stories, SDN has no new posts, facebook has no new posts. When these sites which I rely on when zombified have nothing new, it becomes a battle of wits fought against myself to keep me awake.
 
Our class is panning out to be the "whiny" class. Great! That's a label I always wanted.

Also, I didn't have a chance to study at all for the phys quiz today due to a disgusting, splitting migraine (with nausea for added joy) and um... I did real bad. Everyone else did well. Poop.
 
TT - that's ok...our class has been labelled as "anal retentive".....sigh. As long as I don't have to live up to the name, I'll deal with it!

I'm not gonna lie, I'd rather be the "intense" class than any of those other two... (Sorry guys 😉 ).


Rants? My PS is 15 characters over the limit (down from 2500) and... I have NO IDEA what to cut. =) I might start taking out spaces in a second.

And we're the "questioning" (and sometimes "whining") class.

ETA: The whining nickname comes from me personally, so others in my class may feel differently. I think we can all agree that we have questions about everything. It has set us back in a few classes already.

I just noticed it today at about 8pm 🙁 I will call them tomorrow. I don't know what they will want to do though, considering it needs to be in by Monday.

ummm what about the guy who posed as a penn grad student and was convicted in june for theft and forgery? he's a legit con artist...and i knew him personally and he was in my group of friends...like WHAT 😱

Yea! They are allowing me to fax the last page! Wow talk about major freak out 😱 Thanks for the suggestions, I never thought they would of accepted through fax.
 
Apparently my English paper sucked and I have to redo the whole thing with a completely new thesis.. I have no idea what to write about though. 🙁
 
I'm currently studying abroad, and I've been waiting for one of my scholarships to process through so I actually have... you know, money outside of just paying rent and food. And so I don't owe money on my tuition bill.

Well, I was getting a bit worried about it and emailed the scholarship coordinator. I IMMEDIATELY get an auto-response saying that if there are problems with my document submission, they'll contact me and that's all I'd hear from them if not. Since I submitted all my documents three weeks ago, I though, OK, that's good, I guess it's just taking my school awhile to process.

Three days later I get an email saying they haven't gotten any of my documents. 👎 I've responded with the email I got from the file exchange I uploaded them to (three weeks ago!) and am waiting for a response. Of course it's a weekend so nothing will be getting done until Monday.

ugh. I just want to be able to actually do things on my exchange. :c
