It's my one day of the week to sleep in which of course means my kittens are being as obnoxious as possible. Bear woke me up at 7:30 by biting my foot a few times. Now to make sure that I'm definitely awake he keeps walking across my hihat peddle so the cymbals crash together. It's 8:00 kitty I just want to sleep.

I went home for a party for my dad this weekend. Took one carry on bag and my backpack. One of my flights was one of those tiny planes, so they made me gate check my bag (like where you drop it off next to the door of the plane and pick it up there). Somehow, it did not end up at the gate when I landed in Houston. My car keys were in it, my roommate had to bring me my spares. My jewelry roll was in it (I always keep it in carry-on cause that's supposed to be safer). Literally HOW DO YOU LOSE A GATE CHECKED BAG????? Ugh....

As did I. I was very nice to the woman. She was very condescending to me (I couldn't find my claim ticket and my name wasn't on it). To be fair the guy who put the claim ticket on it did it while I was reading and just stuck the ticket in my backpack without me noticing (found it today when I got to the office).

I'm really happy with the placement, minus the scheduling thing. It was a lot easier earlier in the summer, but most of the students don't stay as long as I am. I'm not sure why they were full when there's only going to be me the next two weeks...wanna come join me? 😀

:laugh: I totally would if I had a place to stay near there with my dog..... hmmmmm.... that would be the only issue... but other than that I would be game....

having a dog with issues and not being able to leave him makes it harder - he has to come with me places - if only I had a car - we could just sleep in it!

Move in with me(we'll boot my current roommate)! We have a University. Then you'd have housing allowing animals all set up. And it's suuuper cheap.
 
Oh I am! But it's annoying to pay a crap load of shipping twice. Why can't people just make decent products? The camera actually makes it look much less brown than the naked eye too 😡

No she's really indifferent about weather and it wasn't even storming when I left her! I don't know what's causing this behavior all of a sudden. Urgh back to the crate I guess.
 
My car hates me. It became super hard to shift gears about a week and a half ago, so my dad changed the gear shift cable for me this weekend. Had no problems driving home yesterday. So what happens when I try to drive to the store...? The brake line goes out. Just whoosh, no brakes.

Thank goodness I was still in my driveway. And thankfully another student started her zoo rotation today so we can continue to carpool (did so this morning, which is probably why this is not a "I totaled my car on the interstate" rant).
 
I hate being broke. More than that, I hate having to borrow money from my parents. Being indebted to them in a financial sense stresses me out to no end. I shouldn't have taken a vacation this summer. That one week off has put me in a really difficult spot.

I can't afford food if I want to be able to pay for the gas to drive to work. I can't afford an oil change if I want to pay my electric bill. I can't drive home if I don't get an oil change without being in constant fear that my car is going to die since I'm already way overdue.

ruhgbodufivnaodufrgb. So now I'm back to not being able to sleep. I hate this!!

OMFG Minnerbelle. I am in the middle of my drive from MA to OK, with 3 cats in the car - Lucy and Roxie are my 6yo girls and are well-traveled (planes, cars, numerous long trips) and are generally perfect. Dorian, the deaf 2yo, is the obnoxious one who never shuts up.

Then today, on day 1 of our 3-day drive, Lucy PEES in her CARRIER. Didn't notice it until we stopped for the night, at which point the pad was soaked, it had soaked through the cloth to the outside of the carrier, and into the cloth carrier Roxie was in next to her. So now EVERYTHING smells like cat pee. Deeeelightful. 😡 They NEVER do that, so now of course I'm paranoid about Lucy having a UTI, or just randomly deciding to pee in the car.

Fortunately we are staying right around the corner from a PetSmart. I said screw this, we're upgrading, and now the girls both have plastic carriers that screw together. Dorian needs a screw-together one - he can open the ones where the sides clip together, as we discovered last year, 5 minutes into our 10 hour drive. 🙄 Only 2 more days!
 
Dear Maintenance Guys,
You know I am normally a fan of your work. You are normally fast, efficient, and do a good enough job. I was confused by today's occurrences, however. It has been WEEKS since Debby came through and we've had a leak this entire time. In that time, we have put away most of our toiletries to minimize damage. I'm not sure why you felt the need to throw my things in the sink and then cover them with plaster. I'm also not sure why you MOVED our bathmat to wipe your nasty feet on. Now we have to replace our soft, microfiber bath mat with foam because you literally took it and moved it to where you could destroy it. Now I understand that repainting to protect against mildew leaves a mess. What I don't get is why you didn't clean up after yourselves. Or why you thought my toothbrush needed a thin layer of dust.

I wish my throat would stop hurting and generally feeling raw. I hate being sick. I rarely am sick. And when I am, it's always something BF brought home. And he only brings the doozy's home.

Sigh. And it's my monday too 🙁
 
I just got called in to work an earlier shift tomorrow than usual which I was happy about until my boss explained why. Apparently a few years ago they had two people clean three full kennels together as opposed to each clean 1.5 kennels separately. We're going to try this again and tomorrow I'll be working with the guy who's been being a jerk to me and who sucks at his job. They decided to try this plan again today which is the day he has the most work (everyone else's normal amount). Basically since I'm good at my job I have to pick up his slack. I wouldn't mind helping if he was a nice person but he's done things like tell me (not ask) that he didn't have time to do part of his job so I need to do it and then after I did he came to ask me if I was done making a mess in a snotty tone even though I cleaned up after myself. The volunteers don't like him and have complained to our boss about him. My other coworkers have problems with him too. I really hope that since they are acknowledging that he's not doing a decent job that he'll be fired when things slow down.

Sorry for the rant. I don't complain in real life at my job so I needed some outlet.
 
Today fell from an awesome scale of 6 (good day) to 0 (bottom of the scale) when I randomly got sick sitting outside. Bam. No warning. And there were 2 guys from my building sitting right there and smoking.

I suppose that's what the older generation thinks about my FB addiction though.
 
It's just a game that we like. Some people like this, some like that. I love it because you have to really pay attention to what people say to figure out their motives/roles. It's like a puzzle.

I completely understand!! I am weaning myself off of my addiction before school starts. I am not allowing myself to read the double game threads at all.

It's terribly boring without WW games to stalk 🙁
 
After work today, I went for my first run in over a month (summer session biochem ate all of my time in July). Afterwards, I started stretching, the way I always do after runs. To get the back of my body, I bent over to get into downward facing dog pose, and my dog charged me :wow: with 40 pounds body weight x pretty fast speed for a bulldog and she hit me squarely on the forehead. I'm pretty sure I have whiplash, and I wouldn't be surprised if I woke up tomorrow with a bruise on my face. 😕👎mad:

Feel free to laugh. This whole thing is equally horrifying and hilarious.
 
I can't wait for Mr. scb to be done with his pediatrics rotation this week. The doctor he is with never has med students but was thrown into it when the doctor he is supposed to be with went on vacation, so he has been stuck with someone who doesn't care to teach, and doesn't allow him to interview patients as it makes her "get behind". He has been doing his best to help her teach him, but she isn't current with the recommendations for treatment of most things he has seen her treat, so he is just getting frustrated. When he asks why she uses what she uses, she just gets crabby and won't explain her thought process. The best part was when he came home today...

...and told me she referred a splinter to a podiatrist in another part of the hospital. ::headdesk:: She said she wasn't comfortable removing it, as the girl was in a lot of pain, but Mr. Scb said that the girl said ouch once or twice and otherwise acted like a normal kid with a normal splinter.
 
I got yelled at today for trying to learn 🙁 I'm on clinic prac, so I asked the vet to watch me test for cranial drawer, to make sure my hands are in the right spots on an anaethetised patient. He then just started yelling at me how he doesn't have time for this and he's so stressed out and just cant deal with me.

I'm usually pretty good when people yell at me, but I got really upset about today for a few reasons: if you dont want to teach, dont accept prac students (this is done externally through the uni, its fully voluntary for clinics to participate), if your busy, just TELL me, there is no need to YELL at me, (they didnt even seem that busy to be but i guess its all perspective) and i've been going though a bit of a confidence crisis lately so it was just one more thing that knocked me round 🙁

Not looking forward to going back tomorrow 🙁

Whats more, he probably yelled at me for longer than it would have taken to show me cranial drawer 🙁

The real questions is...what kind of parents brings their child to the doctor for a splinter?! That's like parenting 101. In fact, I used to take out my own splinters.

The stupidity of two of my coworkers amazes me.
They have seriously gone up to cars in parking lots... and petted the dogs inside.
Yesterday they admitted to following a car from store to store so they could pet the dog inside.
Wtf.
Who, over the age of 12, does that?!

I know someone who did this and got bitten, then like a month later was agonizing over whether they should get a rabies vaccine or not.

I've been traveling with my two dogs all summer and I CONSTANTLY have random people sticking their arms inside my car. Stupid people can't bother to pet the friendly dog that hangs his head out the window. Nooooo, of course, they have to try and pet the antisocial one who hates people and cowers in the middle of the car because OMG SHE IS SOOOOOO CUTE.

Case in point, on the ferry yesterday. Left the windows down a few inches while went to pay.. Come back down, husband on one side of my car, wife on the other with her entire arm inside my car calling to my dog. "Oh, are they yours?" No, lady, I just thought I would take some strangers dogs for a walk.

Even if I have my dog on a leash, he'll be sitting beside me, and next thing I know, some kid has their arms wrapped around his neck. Dont parents teach their kids not to pet strange dogs?

And then there are the people who tell me its cruel to leave my dogs in the car while I'm using the bathroom / eating /etc. Yeah, so cruel that I leave the AC going anytime I leave the car for more than 30 seconds. Not to mention a water bowl and bones and chew toys scattered around the back seat.

I'm tempted to plaster beware of dog signs on the back doors of my car and see if that makes a difference.

I've never had problems with people petting my dog while she's in the car, but people just walk up to her and pet her. She's a small dog that doesn't like people and get intimidated easily. I even had one guy try to pet her after I told him that she bites. She almost got him too. :meanie:

People usually ask me if it's okay to pet my dog, which is great, except that then even when I say "you should scratch under her chin or her chest, she doesn't like people reaching over her head" they still just plant their hand right on top of her head and she gets all freaked out and backs up, and they're like "aw she doesn't like people?"

And I'm like :eyebrow:
 
Some people are scared of my puppy (!) just because she's a GSD. Because "they're mean dogs." Most people ask about petting her because usually she's wearing her guide dog vest when we're out.

There are always people though that try to pet her when we sit down on the bus or walk through a crowd while they look the other way and pretend they didn't do anything, because they don't want me to notice. Those really annoy me. Hey, please don't touch my dog, she's working. They always get really embarrassed then.

Cops love her. They always come up and ask if they can pet her. I've had a few stop their cars to talk to me because of her. :laugh:
 
Complete mental breakdown right now....

I found out that my grandma who I was unable to see before I left because she ended up in the hospital in another state has congestive heart failure and COPD... I have no clue when I will get to see her again and now I am worried if I will be able to see her again... I was thinking that maybe I can sneak a trip down during Christmas time (hadn't planned on it) but I currently have $0 and am living off of credit cards which are nearly maxed out and I am not entirely sure that my student loans are going to be enough to cover rent, utilities, food, school supplies, credit card payments, etc, etc and allow me to travel home for Christmas...

I am just numb and broken... 🙁 🙁 :cry:
 
I know other people are dealing with far worse than my stupid co-workers, but I am sick, I'm ALONE in the dang room AGAIN and the alarms, the phones and the radio are all going nuts.

And the detective assigned to another agency just used a range term I'd never heard of for "Accidental Discharge" "AD" OK so you had an AD, I don't know your range slang, we have codes for that, or just get on the GD landline and tell my assistant chief about it so that she isn't sitting here over my shoulder trying to get the info she needs out of me.

Please god, let me just quit now.
